This is the most welcoming, friendly, servant-hearted church, and the members truly are a church family. Pastor Paul Shelton's preaching and teaching is deeper than other churches I've attended, and I'm thankful to be among the flock being fed and protected. We are blessed by his teaching 4 times each week: Sunday morning bible study (9:30), Sunday morning service (10:30), Sunday afternoon service (2:30), and Wednesday night bible study (7:30). We also do a college bible study each Tuesday evening on UNT campus. Thank You, Lord, for leading me here...I love my church so very much!

And new people join just about every other week. It's growing. The older folk bring a level of warmth and common Christian decency you don't find in other places. They pray for each other. They care about what's going on. They do things together, like luncheons and trips to Brandon. If you're an older person who needs peer friendship, this is the place for you. Pastor Buddy is a great example of what a pastor should be. He does expository preaching. But more than that he loves the people, and they love him. Gateway has childcare for all age levels. Worship tends to older tunes with a country twang.

Thankfully, my family and I have since found a church where we feel genuinely welcomed and supported. I grew up attending this church and many of my family members and friends did as well. Because of that, it felt like the natural place to celebrate such a special moment in our lives. Unfortunately, the experience leading up to our wedding was incredibly disappointing. Throughout the planning process many of our interactions with Elsa left us feeling judged rather than supported. It often felt like we were constantly being corrected or expected to meet certain standards instead of being encouraged and welcomed. Rather than feeling excited about getting married in the church I grew up in I found myself feeling discouraged. I believe churches should help people feel welcomed, encouraged, and drawn closer to their faith not leave them feeling like outsiders or ashamed because they don't meet every expectation. (Sometimes unfortunately people do stray away but who are we to judge or make people feel that way?) The day of our wedding was especially disappointing. Shortly after the ceremony we were rushed to leave and were told we needed to get out. After such an important milestone that was an unfortunate way to end. I'm grateful to have found a new church where my family and I feel accepted, welcomed, and able to grow in our faith without feeling judged. I truly hope everyone who chooses to celebrate one of life's biggest moments here has an experience that makes them feel loved and supported.

Been going to DBC since my family and I moved to Denton, over 20 years ago! We've seen the church…read moregrow and have always left with newfound knowledge and understanding. Pastor Nelson and his staff are incredible! They tell you the truth and even though it may be hard to hear sometimes, it is always backed by the Bible and what God intended and wants for His people. How amazing is that?! You really get to dig deep in this church. My Dad always says, "we're getting Seminary teaching for free". And it's so true! DBC is wonderful for all ages and has many ways to plug yourself into the Body of Christ. I grew up in AWANA, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, Sports World, and more! It's such a refreshing church and so encouraging to be in a place like Denton Bible. I encourage anyone and everyone to go! Your life will be forever changed.
