All of the churches around are very large, but this one feels small enough to be a home. The Priests and Deacons are brimming with the Holy Spirit, and when you are ready to begin participating in the different ministries it is very easy to do. The congregation is so diverse-- with all kinds of cultures bringing their uniqueness adding a richness and warm quality to the feel of this church. The architecture of the church is a beautiful representation of the austerity of the Auschwitz concentration camp with stained glass telling Saint Maximilian's story and of his devotion to the Virgin Mary. The story of Saint Maximilian Kolbe is an AMAZING one-- a modern day Saint, he not only was an astounding Priest, but founded monasteries in Poland, Japan, and India, his passion was to spread God's word in print, founded a radio station, and had hoped for a TV station. In 1941 he was imprisoned in Auschwitz. He's most notably known for taking the place of a man sentenced to die in a starvation chamber in Auschwitz. The Nazi guards took note the unusual hymn singing and peace of those destined to starve to death. After the other men had died, Maximilan remained alive, and wanting to have the chamber cleared, he was executed by the Nazis.
