We used New Life Painting aka Javier Cairo in October 2020 to paint the inside of our home. He told me four days and it took 3 1/2 weeks. I was happy with the work but not the timeline. We hired him again on April 15, 2021 for stucco repair and entire exterior painting of our home. He told me four days and said he would start the 21st and be finished by the 27th. I was happy with that because we we're scheduled to list our home for sale May 1, 2021. He started April 23, but was not finished with the work 33 days later so we let him go. It has cost us $6800 SO FAR to repair the work he did. WHY? First, he used different colored stucco in several different areas on our home. Then he rolled and sprayed the home in different areas. The home looked blotchy and in the areas of the different color stucco it looked terrible. Additionally, he texted me on three different occasions to pay for the paint which was included in the price because he left his wallet in the other truck, he had to pay someone in El Paso, etc. Then the paint didn't even show up at my house. I know now he had me pay for someone else's stuff because I called the paint store and it was primer. Last, he told me at one point he would be finished by 10am the next morning and wanted the rest of the money now. Thank God I said I had to see it finished first because Javier was no where near finished. He didn't show up the next day so I called two painting companies to come out. Both came and both, at different times, told me Javier was ruining my home. I immediately let him go and hired one of the companies to completely redo the paint job Because neither company would guarantee their work unless they redid it all due to how bad it was by Javier. Here's what I haven't told you yet which will cost me more money--- 1.) Javier dropped stucco in my new air conditioner (purchased Jan 2021) and I now have to get it professionally cleaned out because the stucco is on the fan and can put the fan off balance. so if I don't get it cleaned they can void warranty and my ac can break down. 2.) Javier broke 36 roofing field tiles and seven ridge tiles. I sent him pictures and have waited a week for him to drop off the tile material for our roofing company to fix. As you can see in pictures, he still hasn't dropped off paint, trim paint, or the tile. I have plenty of pictures, snapshots of all his text messages, and proof of who he is from my camera system (Which they broke one of them, too). I'm trying to get these to load on here. I loved what a great job they did with the sealing and painting. I wish I could leave a better review because that part was great. However, professionalism left a lot to be desired. The night before they were to start the job, I got a text at 10pm stating they'd need to push out a day. I understand that kind of thing happens, but it's bad form to text a client so late the night before. I had to follow up time and again regarding arrival times, etc. There was no proactive communication on their part. They also dumped over a gallon of paint in our front yard. We now have to throw away all of the rock in that area and spread more to make up for it. They also broke a decorative element. Even with all of the challenges, we're considering them for another job on our interior. We support small businesses and really appreciated the work they did. Just wish for more professionalism and concern for our home. read more

Do NOT use Javier Caro or New Life Painting! We had a HORRIBLE experience! His painting work was totally unprofessional and a sloppy mess. When we tried to have him make it right, he was totally unresponsive and refused to come back and fix or stand by his work, and we had to hire another painting contractor to fix his shoddy work. Javier came back to fix the previous work that had issues (i.e. cracks reappeared on outside wall; mismatched texture on inside wall). I truly appreciated Javier coming back to fix the work and the inside wall looks great; texture of repaired area looks perfect. The outside wall no longer has cracks and I'm hopeful this recent repair (mesh used this time) will keep the wall in good condition for awhile. The work was under warranty, so all of it was no charge to me for the repairs. I am happy with the end result. read more

I'd had high hopes for this contractor since he provided his license and insurance readily and was excited to do the job. He gave me a reasonable quote. But then he sent me a contract that had misspellings and written by his kids. I thought awe, he's just getting started and his English was not great, so I developed a form for contract/quote that he could use for future business. He agreed to it and the contract written as our agreement. Well, then he started... and by the 3rd day his crew was not showing and he blamed them. So I gave him a second chance. He then was having people intermittently show up, they were not masking windows, doors, etc. and leaving trash everywhere... which was addressed in contract. We had another talk and laid out expectations and that I'd like to talk at end of each day since It's a rental and I live elsewhere. He agreed and did not follow through. It is now 27 days since he was to be done with the project and the job is incomplete and he's showing up when he wants after many promises unfulfilled. I highly recommend NOT working with Javier Caro and New Life Painting. I am not paying him the balance Of the contract since he did not finish the job but left part of roof not stuccoed, the windows and doors splatters with stucco, garage doors and sliding glass door splattered and stucco on trim, all over roof splattering , ladders in yard, as well as stuff left everywhere . No lights were reinstalled or trim painted from damage, nothing. I even emailed him and texted and called to no avail with what will happen should be not finish the job to no avail. I've never had a contractor do this. The stucco he did do looks nice but the overall job was incomplete. read more

We contacted Javier and he came out promptly and gave us a quote via email right away. We tried contacting Javier a few times to let him know that we wanted to go with his company. Finally Javier called us back and we agreed to his price and he set up a day and time to start the paint job on our fence on 10/12/2020 at 8 am. We waited and waited, took our dogs to daycare so they wouldn't be in the way and he never showed up. My husband called 3 times that day and left messages. To this date we haven't heard from Javier. I understand that things happen but I have always been taught that if you aren't going to be able to make it to an appointment you call and explain the situation and make other arrangements and keep them as promised. We are contacting other companies to have our fence paint completed. read more

I have had the privilege of working with Javier on 2 jobs now and his workmanship is outstanding. These weren't your typical painting jobs as the ceiling collapsed due to roof failure (from hail damage) requiring new drywall to be installed and then textured to match the surrounding ceiling. The repairs are indistinguishable from the original ceiling and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend Javier for all your painting and drywall repair needs. read more

Javier was very good with communication which I appreciated being out of town and getting my house ready to sell. They did a fantastic job painting the inside of the property as well as outside and stucco. The full service job really added the curb appeal I was looking for. He had a great price quoted to us for some drywall work.... then nothing. For over a month we texted and he said he would be at the house SIX times! I was more than gracious, maybe too believing, as the first two times he said he had a family emergency. Yeah right, sorry I believed him for two weeks, then just gave him more chances. I guess you get what you pay for? If it seems too good of a price, there's a reason. The reason this time was that he isn't reliable AT. ALL. Here can't even show up when he says he will. Bummer too, because he was so nice and friendly in person. Oh well. Don't waste your time with Javier's company. : ( read more

Even though our second can of paint, which we supplied, was slightly off color, they returned the next day and redid their work with the new paint at no extra charge!! I can't even comment on the qualify of their work as we couldn't get them to do the job! After obtaining a price quote from him, it took us several tries--multiple texts requesting he come over to start the work, followed by one or two no-shows on the date(s) on which he had said he'd come over to start--just to get him to come over for around 15 minutes to do the initial step of the stucco patching job! We then again had to try to get him to come over to complete the job...after a couple more times of him blowing us off on the days he was supposed to come, we gave up in favor of using someone more professional whom would actually be responsible enough to show up when they say they would! The only thing we ended up getting from him, in the 3 weeks or so we tried working with him on getting the job done, was lost time on our part sitting around waiting for him to show up! He wasn't even respectful enough to call us to let us know he wouldn't be showing up; or even to call us afterwards to reschedule! WE had to call HIM back to get a new day scheduled (which he then blew off again)! People's time is more valuable than that!!! Be respectful of this and show up!!! read more

Needed to have the stuccoed cement block wall that surrounds our property painted to match a recent house stucco job. Javier responded within a few minutes to my call and set up an appointment for an estimate on the job. He came at the appointed time, texted me an estimate and we set an approximate date (I was not sure of our schedule). When the time came for the painting to be done, we set a date and time, we supplied him with the color sample and the job was completed in a few days. He and his assistant did excellent work and we are very pleased with the result. We were especially impressed with his response time and keeping us informed on the progress of the job. I live in California and have a rental house in Albuquerque. My property manager informed me that it was necessary to paint the entire interior of the house, and he told me how much his maintenance people wanted to charge. Feeling the price was way too expensive I requested estimates from four companies. Javier not only responded immediately, but he was the ONLY one who gave me an estimate. His price was considerably below the other one. It turns out that the manager decided only a couple of walls needed to be painted after all. So even though I could not use Javier at this time, I would absolutely recommend him. I asked him several questions through Yelp, and each time he responded immediately; and he seems polite, kind and professional. The fact that he responded so quickly and seemed anxious to work sold me because it is extremely difficult to impossible to find someone to do work of any kind. read more
