Home delivery has always been dependent on who is servicing our route. Our current carrier is a young family and even during the delivery of their preemie baby, the paper arrived every day, although sometimes it was late. Once you know how the Alb Journal newspaper, printed in Santa Fe, and trucked to ABQ gets to your house, it changes your reaction to the delivery of the paper. My long memory means I remember the hey-day of Journal in the morning and Tribune in the afternoon. Frankly, I am glad to have a home delivery at all. And this is a completely LOCAL production. My money to circulation is lots more than it used to be, but everything costs more. I remember buying the paper on the newsstand for 7 cents in 1968. If delivery matters to you, it is useful to form a relationship with the person doing the delivery. If local news matters, it is worth adapting expectations to what the current world is. (And I miss the grocery store ads and the Classified Ads the most.) Going online to do my own research versus having it delivered and in a form I could mark-up as I read, is something I really miss. But I still get the daily puzzles and local obits and a few local ads with local reporters covering the major news in our town. I will really miss it when the paper goes away altogether. They told her she wouldn't be able to get a refund without bringing a death certificate in person all the way up there in person. Don't they have access to vital records? My mother is elderly and can't drive up there. They also have been throwing the paper in the road . What happened to compassion and believing someone who has been your customer for so long? Well we won't be using you for an obituary. What a rag. It's too bad because elderly readers are what keeps the paper going. Shame on you.
