Hubs wanted a coffee during our long drive across northern Minnesota and this looked like a good spot to make a spot. I would highly recommend. The New Moon Coffeehouse and Eatery proves you can find good food even in a small, isolated town. (That isn't a dig at Baudette, it's just reality. This is a small town on the Canadian border.) The New Moon is one of the best places in town, and it would hold its own in any city or community. It has a relaxed, sophisticated decor that feels right in a county defined by one of the nation's largest lakes. It's a popular gathering place for locals and the town's leaders. If you live here, you can't walk into this place without running into your neighbors and friends. And for visitors from both sides of the border, it's a great place to grab something to eat. The food, which the owners often put their own spin on, is always good. I have yet to eat something here I don't like. My favorite dishes include the Loaded Avocado Bagel, Gyro Wrap, South of the Border Salad and the Yodeling Turkey Panini. Each time I look over the menu, I discover something new. Like today, I just discovered they serve London Fog tea. They serve breakfast and lunch. Menu items include paninis, sandwiches, bagels, pastries, wraps, salads, non-alcoholic speciality drinks (hot, iced and blended), smoothies (in season) and more The New Moon is owned by local women who all grew up in Lake of the Woods County. They opened it in 2020 because they missed The Smiling Moon, a popular coffee spot that closed a few years ago. If you look around the New Moon today, you'll see subtle references to the former coffee shop besides its name. One is a sign from The Smiling Moon that's hanging from the ceiling. Service was consistently amazing. Food was great. Coffe was delicious!. I would say this is the best lunch/coffe/breakfast in baudette.

We stopped here on our way out of Lake of the Woods from a fishing trip knowing we'd need a strong dose of caffeine to get us through the drive back to Minneapolis. We came in to smiling, friendly faces and a quick rundown of the menu, both food and drink. The pasties and baked goods looked delicious but we just needed coffees. They had so many unique flavored coffee drinks, there's something for everyone. I ended up getting the Bees Knees, a lavender and honey latte. My husband got the Bonfire, a toasted marshmallow mocha. Both were delicious, well balanced and not too sweet. The space is big and bright with lots of seating options. They even have what appears to be a small meeting room. This coffeeshop and eatery is also women-owned, and you can tell because everything is so thoughtfully designed - including the bathroom. Instead of just putting in one of those changing tables that folds from the wall, they have a real changing table for a more home away from home feel when you're changing baby's diaper. While coming off the lake from ice fishing I realized I hadn't had my morning coffee yet and cautiously optimistic this place would be good. It was delicious! I had a "defrost" and added white chocolate to it, it has a base of a decently smooth cold brew topped with a pistachio cold foam- yum! I would give it a 9/10. Note, even with the addition of white chocolate it still wasn't even close to a caribou or Starbucks level of sweetness for a drink. My fiancé had a "walleye water" which is a coffee free caffeinated beverage, think a refresher at chains. It's good with a nice mix of flavors, we thought it is a 8.5/10 and 8/10. The inside is spacious with plenty of room for a group to meet or for peeps to meet up and enjoy food and coffee after a fishing trip! There are three bathrooms, the one tucked in next to the main entrance/counter to order has a nice baby changing station and feminine hygiene items:) love the thoughtfulness! The service was fast and the variety of items on the drink and food menus were surprisingly vast considering it's a small town eatery. We didn't have food, but looking forward to another visit and trying their eats! read more

So my 5 star rating is based only on their coffee and apple pie. We have been sampling and buying apple pie on our Great Lakes RV road trip. We ordered a slice to go. The apple pie from New Moon might be the best I've had and I have had many. The crust was flakey, bottom crust and edges were perfect, the apples were cooked just right with a slight crunch and not too sugary. It's sad that we only bought a slice. The service was on par with the pie and the place was very clean. read more

On our way home, we were passing through Baudette and decided we wanted to get a bite to eat. After looking at our options we decided on the New Moon Coffeehouse and Eatery. When walking into the coffeehouse, we were warmly greeted and given menus. I decided on the Italian panini which was hot, delicious with ooey, gooey melted cheese. J got the grilled chicken quesadillas which he said was delicious and came with salsa and sour cream. Both of us enjoyed what we ordered. We would have loved to try their wonderful options for coffee but that will have to wait until another time. We normally are not in this area but we want to come back to do more hiking and exploring. We will definitely be back for coffee and their delicious looking baked goods. read more

We stopped here after driving for seven hours straight. It was like a little slice of heaven! Nice people, and fantastic coffee.
