This place has some seriously tasty food. This restaurant really focuses its menu and only does…read morethings that its good at. The selections of wine were brilliant, the staff were friendly although there was slight problems with communication as the waitresses english was not great. We had the vietnamese spring rolls, chi special fried rice, pad thai, crispy choo chi barramundi extra spicy, roast duck in tamarind sauce and fried ice-cream for dessert. The main courses were amazing, constantly surprising us. The spring rolls were made in-house and probably the best spring rolls I've had in Adelaide. The crispy barramundi was also extremely good, the coconut was not overwhelming but the creamy texture was still maintained in the sauce. The stand out dish though was definitely the roast duck in tamarind sauce. When my father choose this item (we have a system where everyone chooses a dish and we share), I have to tell you I was skeptical. All the previous dishes with tamarind that I have tried is generally in indian food - where it is in the form of a chutney or mixed with spices where its taste is lost. The sweetness of the tamarind remains but is not overpowering and is accompanied with citrus flavours and star of anise. The dessert, fried rice and pad thai were nice but a little overpriced. Although the food at this restaurant was excellent, it is slightly overpriced for some of the meals. I can't wait to go back! I think I'll try some of their specials next time.

Madame Wu's has been my family's favourite restaurant for years. We go here for birthdays,…read morecelebrations and really the opening of an envelope. You don't need an excuse to go here. The food is amazing. I have had almost every dish on the menu and I have never been disappointed. Once I even accidentally ordered a giant plate of seasoned bean sprouts and it was delicious! However, I have some recommendations that you must try. Their curry puffs, I have never in my entire life consumed such amazing curry puff. The pastry is perfect; the stuffing is delicious and just spicy enough. The spring rolls are also a must. For mains, you have to try the satay tofu. Now I am a picky tofu eater, I have tried tofu from almost every Asian restaurant in Adelaide. This tofu is good. It is cooked to perfection, the sauce is peanuty, slightly spicy and delicious to soak up with a pile of steamed rice. The service is great, the owner always greets us when we go in and makes sure we are being looked after well. It is also exciting that when you pay for your meal you are rewarded with a fortune cookie! Madame Wu's can get extremely busy so I would definitely recommend booking for groups.

I haven't had the good fortune of eating at Madame Wu's more than once, simply because each time I…read moreshow up at the restaurant, it's already full of people. I did have the privilege of eating here once, however, and I was extremely pleased with both the meal and the service. The laksa noodles are freakin' awesome. Laksa noodle soup isn't exactly as difficult as making souffle, but Madame Wu's interpretation of this classic Malaysian dish is miles ahead of some of the others I've tried in and around town. It's a little pricier, but your taste buds will thank you for it. The customer service is also great, but because of the constant barrage of customers, you might feel a little ignored every once in a while. But never fear, they'll tend to you eventually with friendliness. Don't be surprised if you have to wait for a table if you don't have a reservation, this place is always filled to the brim. I've come by many times hoping to be seated, but was told to wait up to half an hour My advice - book in advance!

I've eaten a lot of sushi around Adelaide. Countless sushi rolls have passed through my gullet, and…read moreI've come to the conclusion that a key factor in making good sushi is keeping it cold. Unfortunately this store must be trying to save money for their no doubt excessive rent, as their sushi is generally room temperature. Not warm, but certainly not cold. The sushi itself tastes good enough, but the temperature ruins the texture. When the seaweed is not cold enough, it becomes chewy and tough. It results in ruined sushi rolls, with chunks of rice and raw salmon crumbling into your thin plastic container. This store is generally a last resort lunch option.

It is very convenient, right near the cinema if you want a quick snack. There is not a massive range of sushi at Sakura, but there are all the favourites. Last time I went I grabbed a couple of vegetarian rolls. They satisfied my sushi craving, but they tasted old. They definitely didn't taste like they had just been made, they were dry and the seaweed was hard to bite through. For someone reason the rolls were also slightly warm, definitely not improving their taste or texture. I wouldn't recommend going to Sakura, unless it really is your last resort. Although it definitely is a lot cheaper than buying the snacks provided at the cinema.
