With most any name of a business, it can speak to its qualities or lack thereof. In this particular…read morecase, I personally found it misleading. The store is in a small, unassuming brink building on a corner with plenty of parking. Once inside the store is quite ordinary and felt a bit depressing, again going by the name. They had a rack at the front door that had everything for $1.00 and had a decent selection but nothing name brand. As we meandered our way through the store, which did not take any longer than about 15-20 minutes and that was being generous with our time. The selection of various sizes of women's clothes contained outdated, stretched, shrunken and stained clothing. The majority of sweaters were so very pilled that they were so bad and then they had price tags of $20, $30, $40 and higher. I did see three pairs of Doc Marten shoes that appeared new however, one pair of boots had something spilled all over them and was quite noticeable. It was sad that the owner not the clerk took the time to clean them. There were jeans, exercise clothing and very few formals. There was also a very small men's section available. Scattered throughout the store were various shoes as well as purses. There were "name brand" purses however, they were all very cheap knockoffs and is actually illegal to sell. You can buy them but do understand that you are paying for what appears to be a knockoff, fake or in other another word, a fraud. If you are going to spend that kind of money on an MK handbag, go to a real retailer that is licensed to sell MK handbags such as Macy's, TJMaxx, etc. As for purchasing Louis Vuitton, you will not find one in a second hand shop that looks brand new for example $90 or so. If you are a true handbag collector and follow fashion, you know what a REAL Louis Vuitton feels like, smells like and that any piece of hardware is heavy and stamped with their name. You are also aware that each designer handbag comes with its own identification number. That can be looked up online to legitimate sites. Don't be taken advantage of by a fake name brand purse just to look "in style", "bougie" or whatever phrase you want to call it. The only thing that will truly happen is that the owner and clerks will laugh all of the way to the bank. Now let's talk about customer service. My friend and I went on a Saturday afternoon about 2pm on 03/02/24 and we were the only two in the store. The clerk never once made eye contact with us, spoke to us although we greeted her. When asked if she could get down a few items that were hanging up in the wall, we were ignored. Now, she was just a clerk and not the owner. Regardless, having worked in retail for fun, I'm more than acutely aware that if you speak to your customers first and periodically ask if they need any assistance. If they do ask for help, you should help them as soon as possible. That shows that you are proactive and truly invested in not only your job but you are invested in where you work as well and you WANT to be helpful. The more you go out of your way to assist customers, the more they will come back. My advice when looking for good quality used clothes, positively skip Selective Seconds in East Moline, Illinois.

There are a few things that I hope the owner/management considers for the future of this store…read more The store is nice. The building is nice, the space is clean, and you can tell that the owner has put great thought into the organization and appearance of the space. There is plenty of room to move around in the store, and the items are displayed nicely. The merchandise within the store is also quality, for the most part. A lot of well-known and designer brands, and the products appear to be in decent condition - most are lightly/gently worn and some are newer condition. Prices on most things are pretty fair. I've gotten a few purses that I love for a reasonable price. The ladies that work in the store are fairly nice. Many are younger/high school age girls who work part time. I've never had a problem with customer service while inside the store. However, there are some things about this store that earn it a one star review. The store hours are posted, but not followed. At least 7 out of 10 times I drive by during posted business hours, they are not open. Once, while shopping in store, I asked the manager about the hours of the store - to which she dismissed my questions/comments by saying they are short staffed but most days they are open at least 10a-3p. This has definitely not been my experience. I wish that the owner would hire more staff OR scale back the store hours and stick to them. I live over an hour away and have made special trips to shop at this store, but have many times been met with disappointment when the store is closed in the middle of a Saturday. No matter what the hours are, I wish the owner would be more transparent and consistent with hours. If you are in the area, maybe it is worth driving by to see if they are open, but I would not recommended making special trips to stop here. Another thing to be considered about Selective Seconds is the fact that they are selling a lot of knockoff designer pieces. I would not trust shopping for designer items here unless you know how to authenticate them. I am a purse collector, and can authenticate/date Coach/Dooney/Hobo purses. I've purchased bags here that are authentic, but I caution shoppers who are looking at the "Gucci" or "Louis Vuitton" items here. They are not real. I believe that selling knockoffs is illegal, so I am not sure why they sell so many here. It's very unfortunate that I have to give a one star review for a store that is unassumingly very nice. I hope that management reads and considers this review, as I would love to see this store improve and continue to stay open.

I rented a property from Ruhl & Ruhl Property Management for two years. They were excellent when we…read moremoved in and when we needed appliances to be fixed or replaced. They stayed on top of maintenance and work requests that I submitted pretty well. However, during our moveout inspection I felt there was unfair treatment of how they assessed our security deposit return. They withheld the total amount and said they could've charged us more on top of our deposit for property turnover. They held us accountable for unforeseen charges and other things that a tenant should not be held responsible for due to wear and tear over time. I asked for an itemized list of these discrepancies, and Patty Grady, who is their property management Maintenance Coordinator made excuses as to why she could not produce pictures, receipts, or invoice billing that calculated these charges. We tried to maintain the property as best as possible with yes a few nicks and scratches, however their lack of assistance and laziness (especially from Patty Grady) is unacceptable. They need to review how they treat paying tenants who even after they're no longer a tenant. I even reached out to the the owner of the property and after comparison to their way of how things are done, it was clear Ruhl & Ruhl lies about how they assess their deposit. She (Patty) told me she sends a report to the property owner and that he will determine how that deposit is handled. He told me via email that he has no play in that and trusts property management to do their job with an honest assessment to handle these things. So this clear to see Property Managment lied to me about that. They're not very customer friendly and even towards us as an active duty military family who has lived in various housing over 20+ years and dealt with landlords & property management. This has been the worse we ever worked with. I strongly recommend if you are looking to rent in the quad cities, never go to them for rental property. They are not honest with their work and will use any excuse to hold something against you feel like. They should be banned from the Rock Island Arsenal housing office for use as rental referrals out in town.

While the home clearly needs to be repainted, the home is larger than typical at 2400 sq ft, has central air, a fenced double lot, a fairly new and stylish 3 car garage, and the photos inside look fairly good. A similar but slightly larger home in Broadway with asbestos siding on a smaller lot with a nicer kitchen is listed at $236K, now pending. A recent comparable for a slightly larger homes that appears to be in similar condition with no garage on a smaller lot sold for $190K. Another comparable in better condition with no garage sold for $215K. Unless there is major structural damage to the home at 727 19th St, it leaves one with the impression that the listing agent underpriced the home by at least $40 or $50K.

My sister in law was a resident of Hope Creek from Oct 17 2022 until she passed away Jan 12, 2025…read more My husband, age 84, visited her very often. He thought she was taken care of. For a while she was taken care of but over the years things changed. Charlotte would be out in the hall by the dining room away from her wing. She developed dementia. She was neglected and her needs were not met. Complaints were blown off. Dec 24 2024 we visited at 3:30 pm. She was in bed and unresponsive. We got the nurse. The nurse did not even check her; she just proudly said that she had her up in a wheel chair from 6am until she was brought back from the Christmas party at 3 for disturbing the party yelling for help. She said Char was a fall risk and she had to stay up. My husband visited at noon Christmas day. He helped her with her dinner. She asked to go back to her room to lay down. He was told he couldn't take her to her room that she had to stay up because she was a fall risk. She kept yelling to go to her room. They put her in a recliner and he just wheeled her to her room. She is fall risk so they punished her by making her stay up in a wheel chair for hours. No one changed her or gave her a drink. Jan 3, 2025 Charlotte was sent to the emergency room with breathing difficulties. The ER nurse called us to find out who was responsible for Charlottes care that she was severely dehydrated, mal nourished, weighed 80 pounds and was unresponsive except to say help. . The ER doctor called and he was angry about Charlottes condition. er further testing he found that Char had a blood clot in her lung, several blood clots in her legs and a huge open bed sore. She The doctor said she would not survive surgery and it would be best to place her in hospice care so that she received pain medication, was comfortable and taken care of. We asked to send her to another facility and this was not possible. Jan 6th, she returned to Hope Creek in Heartland Hospice Care. Heartland sent a patient care person who bathed, changed, dressed and combed her hair every day. The Hospice nurse visited every day and was on call. Hope Creek nursing staff did as little as possible to care for her. The neglect by Hope Creek continued. Jan 7th, Hospice called to tells us her condition was deteriorating. We called my brother in law,85, to meet us at Hope Creek. When I got arrived there was no chair by her bed. I had to go from wing 4th all the way to the reception desk and talk to three people to have someone get us chairs. The four of us stayed for over 4.5 hours. NOT one Hope Creek employee came in the check on her. At 5pm they came and repositioned her and did not check to see if she needed changing. We called twice in the evening to check on her and the phone was transferred to the wing and NO ONE answered. Jan 8, she was in pain when I arrived. I asked her nurse when she had pain medication last. Her nurse did not know but would check when she got around to it. I called Heartland. When I returned to the wing the hospice nurse was talking to her nurse. I asked about the pain medication and she said she had given it about 10 minutes prior. That it was ordered only as necessary. Her explanation of how to tell if she was in pain included asking for help. I asked how they knew if the never went in her room. She said she could hear her all the way down the hall. The nurse could not have been in her room. She could not yell. You had to be withing 5 feet to hear her. She was placed in a recliner in the hall while an air mattress was put in place. I could see her toes. The nails were yellow and green and the big toe nails were loose and detached at the cuticle. I took pictures. Why did no one have this taken care of. Every time we were there she had shoes on. I asked about the bed sore on and was told it was an end of life sore that just pops up. Not true! Every complaint was blown off. We were even told that the administrator did not work out of Hope Creek. We were always referred to Amber Hart who is useless. Evening calls to check on her were not answered after 20 minutes. We called the Hospice nurse and and after two calls and 45 minutes got a nurse who said she was sleeping. Jan 9, I0 we visited two times a day for over 2 hours. Finally we got the pain med ordered to be given every 2 hours. Jan 11th I was there over 6 hours. Same situation. I always stayed to make sure she was really asleep and peaceful before I would leave. We attended every care plan meeting and we voiced our concerns. She was never wearing her own clothes except for her shoes. Complaints about missing items were answered with we have no way to know who did it. We asked to put a camera in her room and it was not allowed. They accepted no accountability for anything. I tried to get a picture of the bed sore but the nurse would not let me. I would never put a helpless patient there. No rating low enough.
