The very best restaurant in aviano and anywhere near the whereabouts of Pordenone, I had the spicy seafood spaghetti, which is the best mix of of any pasta I ever ate, the freshness of the sea food was incredible and quality you can taste, the pasta was better than al dente and just the delicacy you want to go back for one more time and time after. Oh my gosh! We had arrived in Aviano, Italy and our daughter being our tour guide took us to her most favorite place to start our holiday. The servers were most gracious and the aroma was very pleasing. We started with glasses of wine and the meal went up from there~ we all three ordered different entree's and enjoyed taste testing.... then we were served holy water -WOW what a wonderful surprise. They served me rotten fry potatoes And when I ordered pizza with seasonal mushrooms in the middle of September when it supposed to be fresh and not canned mushrooms they served me oily canned mushrooms on my pizza. When I complained about it the Mario's wife started screaming at me in fron of whole restaurant saying that was fresh mushrooms when it wasn't. She is crazy! Even the waiter apologized for her behavior. I didn't even ate anything . It wasn't new to me how horrible cheap food they serve charging you tons of money. Horrible experience read more

Normally the first stop for new arrivals coming to Aviano. New Ristopizza has basically become an institution in the local area. The owner Mario always remembers everyone who comes into his restaurant and definitely knows who is new to the area. In my two years in Aviano, I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant. The place is typically always busy, but service and seating is quick and efficient. The food is also always good, with new specials every day. You never know what you will get when you head to New Ristopizza. The owner is also known for bringing around free shots of grappa to every customer. This is the best place! Everything is so fresh. The mussels and clams were my favorite. If they have the green beans wrapped in bacon get them! You will not be sorry. They always have more options then what is on the menu depending on what fresh ingredients they have. The atmosphere is very laid back and casual. This is a great place to dip your feet in the food pool that is Italia! Mario is a superb host, from the welcome shots of apfel corn (Apple corn) to the wine pairing suggestions. The wine selection is so so for Italy but great by Americano standards. The traditional pizza is reasonably priced and very good. This is a very nice restaurant that is attached to the Hotel Oliva. There are however so so many more places to enjoy the food that is Italy. Ask around to the hotel staff and locals. They will tell you where the secret gems are. Mario's place is still a very good place to dine! Don't forget to order some grappa after dinner! read more
