Of course this is a staple of your visiting, it's very military and American friendly. The menu is big with several options for even a picky eater. The place gets some flack for being Americanized in some reviews but there is a good blend of locals and Americans there. It's great place to experience Italian cuisine without getting overwhelmed and feeling dumb ordering something you are unfamiliar with. It's casual place with casual/upscale vibe. Amongst the restaurants I visited in Aviano, "Spaghetti House" has been my favorite. It is a very well known, and well loved favorite amongst Americans. Despite what some may say about this being Americanized, I've had far worse in the Aviano area and even elsewhere in Italy. These pastas are fresh, always served al denté. The duck gnocchi is just... perfect. Savory meat sauce, buttery soft gnocchi that melts in your mouth. It's a must try. The three cheese tortellini with prosciutto was an absolute hit when I visited with friends. We tried a little from everybody's plate, and when I couldn't finish my meal, they cleaned the plate! The creamiest sauce by far! Tiramisu was also fantastic! Best I've ever had. Service is always great. Waits are never long. Food is fairly quick. read more

While visiting the Pordenone area, I wanted to eat at a different restaurant that required reservations, but was fully booked. That is how we ended up here. The menu is large so there's definitely a dish to satisfy everyone. The service is decent, the servers & cashiers were friendly, so that is not the reason for my two star rating. The reason for my rating is that this restaurant is Americanized and caters to the American palate. I'm not quite sure why anyone would seek out Americanized Italian food in Italy. I don't know of any travelers going to experience a different culture, flying to that country and then seeking out a restaurant that caters to tourists instead of indulging in authentic traditional foods. I ordered mixed grilled meats, which was decent and the portion was generous. The Penne Alla 'Amatriciana was decent, although it was made with pancetta instead of the traditional guanciale - one of the main ingredients of 'Amatriciana. We wanted to try their Chicken Marsala, since that's an Italian-American dish and should be fitting at this restaurant. It was not any different than what you would get here in the States, but ingredients were better of course. The ambiance of the restaurant... imagine a dinning mess hall, like in college, but more homey with its rustic decor and curtains. It sure took away any feeling of being in Italy when 90% of the dinners around you are non-Italians and all you hear is English. If you're looking to travel to Italy to eat Italian-American type dishes, then this will be your restaurant of choice. I understand that the restaurant is in Aviano, where there is a NATO AirForce base, but why anyone would not choose authentic traditional Italian food in Italy over Americanized Italian food is beyond me. Everything I've tried has been at least A-OK, whether it be pasta, a local Avianese/Friulan dish, or pizza. I'm currently absolutely in love with the Pizza alla Parmigiana, on the seasonal menu -- it's eggplant parmesan on a pizza, it's delicious, and I find myself thinking about it. What to say about "the Spaghetti House"? That the food is neither the best nor the worst that Aviano has to offer. That it is great for large groups whose goal is to have a good time but who are not seeking a life changing food experience. The menu is not vast, the price is average for the town. Nothing strikes me as WOW factor, but then again... when it comes to Italian cuisine... i am not easily impressed. I wish they would focus more on local cuisine (Friuli cuisine can really be surprising: frico, S. Daniele ham....) The staff understands and mostly speaks English due to the proximity to the USAF Air Base (which constitutes a good portion of the costumers). read more

This place has decent food, service is great, and the drinks are nice. The house wine has no bite to it, so it goes down easily, and is tasty. The strawberry scorpino is yummy! This place is perfect for a quick bite, large groups, and getting drinks. For a fancy night out without the kids maybe this place should be your second choice. :) read more

My go-to spot for calamari fritti and am never disappointed. Excellent, friendly servers...very welcoming environment! They pull you in with yummy bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
