I went on Sunday (August 11) with my 5-year old son (attending his second ever airshow after seeing the Blue Angels at Binghamton earlier this summer). Overall, we had a great time. We got there around 10:50 and left at 3:15 after Thunderbirds were over. We got through the security line quick to get in, and I did manage to get some snacks through for my son despite the warnings of no outside food. I had a General Admission ticket but we were able to set up very close to the front, and near the stage where we could hear all the announcements and see the pilots (my son wore noise-protection earmuffs for the jets). Before the planes started flying we spent an hour checking out the various booths. Highlights were the Army booth were kids could pick up a Stinger and a LAW - they later had a bomb disposal robot moving around. MVCC also had set up a little airplane that kids could go in with moveable flaps. The C-47 was beautiful but understandably had a huge line. We went after Frecce Tricolori and only had to wait about 15 minutes - the line filled up quickly after us. It did mean we were farther back for the P-40 and the T-38s. Favorite acts were the West Point parachutists, the C-17 (my son loved), Mustang (beautiful plane), Frecce Tricolori, and of course the Thunderbirds. I've seen the Thunderbirds many times, but they were good, loud, and look very cool flying low and overhead with the painted bird. Frecce Tricolori was completely new to me and they were fantastic. So many planes in the air crossing each other (my son's favorite maneuver) in organized chaos. I also loved how they drew a huge Italian Flag with the smoke, and part of their show was set to Italian Opera, which helped heighten the theatrically. They were excellent and I am very glad I got to see; I read this was their first time in the U.S. in 30 years. Food lines weren't too bad, though of course prices were high. I managed to get ice cream to cool down with in about 5 minutes. Food lines did get a longer around 2; I was about to buy a hot dog but they announced they ran out before I waited. Biggest failing was the lack of toilets. They had maybe 15 for all of General Admission and the lines were insane (easily 30 minutes). I basically took my 5-year old to somewhere out of the way on the grass and had him pee there; that's too long for a little kid to wait. Leaving also took a long time (40 to get out of the lot and then local traffic). But at least it was moving - I've been in deadlock before. read more

We went to the new location at the orange county airport. I felt much more organization, seating area much better. The food prices high,but that's anywhere you go. The parking leaving was the only complaint there is no organization, direction, everyone fighting with each other to get out. It took one hour to get out of the parking lot and an extra hour to get home, we live 10 minutes away. read more

Today the 4 of us attended the Orange County NY Airshow spending $1088 for Flight Line seats that included what was described as a catered lunch. The chicken was so over cooked is was barely eatable, hot dogs were boiled without any flavor and room temperature, stuffed shells also cold and sub park. Beers were okay, the wine was just terrible. We paid substantially more for these seats for barely eatable cold food and terrible wine. The Airshow was phenomenal! read more

Since they moved to the smaller Orange County Airport is not worth the time and effort to visit and we will never go again. I liked this airshow when it was at Stewart Airport. Too bad they moved it. We especially enjoyed the big transporter planes and fighters on display there. Right now Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach is way better bang per buck. read more

I hated this show. My kids hated the show. We bought front row lawn boxes. Other people stood along the fence right in front of us so we couldn't see. There was no static displays at all worth looking at. We couldn't bring any food or drinks in. I brought 3 kids so food and drink for 5 of us was a huge hit to the wallet. Plus everything was way overpriced. Hardly any planes were actually on the airport so we didn't get to see the jets fire up or anything and that's what I bought the front row for. Enjoyed a relaxing time on the grounds of Stewart Airport this weekend to take in the sights and sounds (sonic booms!) of the USAF Thunderbirds and other air entertainers! Well done - draws a huge huge crowd but well organized and parking lots are spaced far enough apart that you're not waiting forever to leave the show after it's over. Starts off with the huge C-17, then WW II bomber fly over followed by several WW II fighters doing skywriting and air acrobatics. Several other air highlights, decent static display of aircraft you can browse (and go inside the C-17!) and then, of course, the star attraction, the amazing USAF F-16 Thunderbirds. Highly recommend this for a great family outing. May want to bring noise protection (headphones) for the little ones. read more

Price gouging. they make you empty re-fillable bottles of water at the gate. Then no re-fillable stations on site. Forcing people to buy the $4/bottle water and waste additional plastic. Last 2 years, no blue angels, this year's show was mediocre. Waited for about 45 minutes in lines to get in and over 90 minutes to get out. Lastly there are drones being flown right next to helicopter rides accident waiting to happen. 2 and half hours of scorching heat and being forced to spend money, we had a lawn box, right in front was a speaker stage with 2 loud firing speakers on side were food stalls blocking view, this show is consistently going down hill year after year. 15 feet away from where we were sitting was general admission. Why did we pay over 150 bucks for a lawn box when gen admission is lot cheaper with better views?. upwards of 90 degrees being allowed to bring in water is just basic common sense, however the organizers seem to miss that aspect. The flights were great, Thunderbirds - cant go wrong with it. Performances were good, couple more could have been added. Event organization = garbage. read more

Overpriced tickets, very overpriced food, and 2 1/2 hours to get out of the parking area overshadowed a great New York Airshow at Stewart's Airport. Aside from the religious and political overtones, the show itself was pretty good. It was exciting and inspirational to see the hard work, practice and precision of all the pilots. read more

Not Handicap friendly at all. High grass to park in and walk thru. Some people were able to get a golf cart ride. When asking about a way to get help to my car, I received many different answers. I was told that it was too early to get a ride even though the event ended. The air show was the only good thing. Expensive! read more

Love air shows, and this one is fine for the ticket price. Blue Angels and Thunderbirds alternate each year. One front line fighter each year does a demonstration routine. The rest of the time is filled with a variety of different shows, from compelling to totally hooky and trite, a little bit of everything. A few interesting static displays. But, its poorly rated for several controllable issues. The general seating area is very backed in. The VIP experiences don't deliver any value for the money. The standard parking might as well be in the next town and the line to get in moves way too slowly for 2019. Ordering tickets online, they are total fee bandits on ticket charges. Nearly $10 per ticket, for ordering online. Lots of rules about where you can stand and what you can't bring in. Great idea, poorly executed, year after year. read more

The New York Airshow was a fun event. Seeing the Blue Angels has been something I've wanted to do since I was a kid. That said all was not perfect. I purchased a photo pit pass for the first day (Saturday) of the 2017 show. The pass was a little over $100. For this they promised an "unobstructed view" in front of the crowd line in one of two pits. This is where the disappointment set in. See, this was my first ever Airshow. I'm a hobbyist photographer. I wanted to get the best photos I possibly could and upon seeing their claims on their page I jumped on the chance to get what seemed to be the best place to do just that. I treated my friend to a ticket as well. We were both excited for months leading up to the show. I purchased a long zoom lens for $1000 and memory cards totaling $150 among other things to insure my best chances. Upon arriving I was shocked to see a small area fenced off on the general fence line, not in front of it as claimed and room for about 15 photographers against the fence. To the right was a huge announcers platform the partially blocked the right hand side and to the left was a big speaker stand that almost completely blocked my left side field of view. Aircraft coming from the left side got lost in the speaker stand and many photo opportunities were lost as a result. There were also cars parked directly in front of the pit blocking our view of the runway so there were very limited opportunities to photograph aircraft taxiing or taking of /landing. Another downer was the lack of any food or beverage venders available to the photo pit patrons. There was a BBQ truck directly behind us as well as some others close that were catering for the VIP tents not us. If we wanted food or water on this 90F degree humid day we had to leave our expensive gear (some people had over $20,000 in bulky gear) set up and hope it didn't get stolen or broken while we walked about an eighth to quarter mile to the refreshment stand for a $3 bottle of water. The staff, both volunteers and managers were disorganized at best. I had asked several about the advertised second photo pit in hopes to get away from the speaker obstruction, to eventually find out there wasn't a second pit at all. All said the organization and layout was at best poor and as pertains to the premium photo pit pass, misleading to down right false advertising. The only pluses to the pit pass was there was a portable toilet in the pit and the VIP parking pass was less of a walk than the general admission lot. I was pleased that because of incoming bad weather they adjusted the schedule to have the Blue Angels fly early. That was appreciated and their show did not disappoint. All in all I would be extremely hesitant to purchase photo pit passes next year when there were much better areas in general admission to set up and shoot from. Very disappointed in what was promised and what came to be for the over $200 in tickets I purchased. $40 admission (free admission for most shows of the season) $20 parking (free at most shows) 20 minute line $12.00 hamburgers. Must wait in a separate 20 minute line for a drink. Only 3 jet acts. Completely confused parking lot with completely confused parking lot attendants. Five stars for all the performers. Zero stars for the organizers. I am not talking about all the volunteers and servicemen and women who worked hard trying to make this a great show, I am talking about the "planners." With so many other great shows in the area, you should really raise your standards. This is becoming the northeast airshow that people go to when they can't get to one of the better ones. read more

My son and I went last year and we both said we would not be back. When my son saw the Red Arrows would be performing he changed his mind and back we went. Once again we said, "NEVER AGAIN". The first disappointment are the ticket prices. I don't recall any air shows previously attended charging for entry and parking. Typically, entry is free and there is a charge for parking. Discounted tickets for the show are $32 and I believe that price kept increasing as the show date drew near. I bought my tickets online, two days before the show. The VIP tickets were really expensive and not worth the price. Discounted tickets 2 days before the show were $214. This includes parking, food and beer/water/soda. Is anyone going to eat and drink even half that amount?? Also, this doesn't include any kind of breakfast. The show at Barnes ANGB in Westfield, MA included a continental breakfast and the ticket price was $129. That was back in 2017, but they actually lowered the price in 2018 to $99. instead of unlimited beer and wine, two coupons were given to each ticket holder for alcohol. Limiting the amount of alcohol, what a novel idea. The next frustrating thing is the disorganization. Our hotel was within walking distance, but trying to find the entrance for pedestrians was difficult. I am not even sure we found the right gate or if the attendant just let us in. Instructions on the airshow web site are as follows - "Spectators will not be permitted to enter the 1st street gate in 2019 as it has been designated as a vehicle entrance gate. The only public entrance will be via the onfield parking across to the main entrance." Huh?? The only signs were for cars and my son asked at the front desk of the hotel and 3 or 4 law enforcement officers. All gave directions down towards the terminal, even though the 1st street gate was very close to the hotel. We walked towards the terminal and the woman directing traffic sends us back to the 1st street gate and tells us a shuttle will bring us to the airshow entrance. We get to the gate and there wasn't a roped off area for pedestrians, so we were walking in the same lane as the cars. We never did find out where pedestrians were supposed to enter. The last thing, at least the last issue I actually want to address, is the food and drink lines. They were long, but not long enough to warrant the time it took to get the food. A half hour to get a hot dog is a bit much. I don't think there were 20 people ahead of me and all you can get is a hot dog. No drinks, no specials toppings - other than sauerkraut. Just a hot dog on a bun for $6. Not a big hot dog, just a regular size dog. Then, after you wait in that line go wait in another for drinks. If someone in your party wants an alcoholic drink, then go wait in another line. All in all, not worth it. Never again. read more

This was one of the worst air shows that Stewart has put together, the show left me bored and disgusted. As a VIP customer the experience was like throwing money down the drain the catering was absolutely terrible. The food was pathetic which consisted of hot dogs pulled park( I have made better) two lousy salads and deserts which were cookies that tasted like they came out of a box. I love airshows, and all things aviation, but this show is a logistical mess. They leave the biggest part of the show at the very end, so everyone leaves at the same time, creating a nightmare in the parking lot. Why not do the big event in the middle so people can leave gradually? Greed to sell more at the concessions? There are paths to the front and rear of where the guests are along the taxiway, but all day long golf carts drive within the guest area instead of using these paths, so you're constantly getting beeped out of the way. Concession stands were placed seemingly randomly, making getting through the guest area more difficult. There are very few shady areas available, and large empty shady areas next to the cargo planes are roped off for VIPs. Note again, empty areas. Why not move the ropes back and let more people spread out? Of course the food is obscenely expensive, not to mention the tickets and parking. At least this year they didn't force us to ride in the buses to the parking areas - but there's still so much room for improvement. read more

Been to over a dozen airshows. This one was by far the worst boring line-up of them all. Stewart is home to all the big cargo military aircraft, we see them daily up close flying by all the time in the area. Half of the flyers were these cargo transports. Nothing exciting. Rest of the line-up was crop duster and the Lucas oil bi-plane which was cool. clearly the only draw was the Thunderbirds. They didnt even fly any slealth aircraft or newer planes. Totally boring show except for the last 25 mins. Im skipping this one from now on and only doing the Blue Angels one every other year. Food and drinks were ridiculously priced too. read more

Why doesn't this have more reviews! If you've never been to an air show, do it! There will be crowds (tens of thousands of people visit each day of the show), and you'll be there a while, but if you prepare properly it will be an enjoyable experience. Buy the highest priced ticket you're comfortable with (including parking), but if you want to save money buy online in advance (military/veterans get discounts if buying at certain grocery stores listed on the main website). Online sales add processing fees and sales tax, but still a savings over on-site sales). Most people will bring their own folding chairs, and you should too. If it's sunny out you'll bake, so bring sunscreen and maybe a shade umbrella. Best seating will probably be closest to the VIP section at the far end. Everyone else will fill in the shady places under the 'static' aircraft displays so you could just bring a towel and stake out your spot early. With the cheapest parking, the earlier you arrive, the closer you'll be, but longer it will take to get out, unless the organizers do more to increase paths of egress. Kids will be tired if you wait until the absolute end when the headliners run. Went on the first Saturday when the performances were scheduled from 12-4p, but actually went from 1130a-330p. read more

parking could be better, with all the paved surfaces in the area they park you on roughly cut bumpy grass field. from there its lots of walking seeing exhibits and endless food vendors selling the same foods and toys. some of the airshows are impressive when you can see them. I won my tickets from a radio station. I would never buy tickets or go again. one and done! read more
