For me this is heaven, nothing satisfies a student more than cheap food! I saw the sign as I was about to head into Imax food court but I ran across the road to Global Sandwich. I bought a smoked chicken sandwich on five grain bread and a banana muffin. This cost me $3.70! If you don't believe me head down there yourself. Apart from the cheap price it's nice to know that they are some honest people in this world who don't recycle their food stock.

Got my hot latte and it was delicious. Milk was nice and creamy. Latte art was impressive, even through the cover. So good. After overhearing another customer telling his friends that the "chipotle beef was so delicious", I just knew I had to order it! Served with a fresh tomato and onion salsa, herbs and their homemade hot sauce, the chipotle beef bagel was absolutely melt in your mouth, to.die.for, scrumdiddlyumptious! I could have eaten another one (or two) it was that good! But watch out, it is spicy, and had me grabbing for my water bottle every few bites! I can't wait to go back and try more of their toppings. Basically, don't drop in for a quick takeaway coffee and bagel on the run, it's more like a beachside cafe on island time at a takeaway window on Vulcan Lane. The bagel was pretty good - I got some kind of riff on a normal offering in order to get melted cheese and avocado together with some chili flakes. It's not a giant NY style bagel (still haven't found a proper NY bagel here, I know I know) but it'll satisfy in the meantime. They were happy to mix and match their offerings, and their bagel/coffee special is the best deal in town (you get your coffee for $2 - whatever kind you want!) My sister and I decided to try it out 4&20 three Sunday's ago. It was Father's Day and my Dad loves croissants. We bought three almond croissants priced at $4.80 each - a little on the expensive side. My Dad, two sisters and I agreed that they were just too buttery and very rich (luckily I just had half!). Aside from croissants, they also sell brownies, 'morning buns' and a range of loaves. I could not believe the when I saw the price of the loaves - $12 each! I did read somewhere that 4&20 kneads every loaf by hand and they are then baked in their specially designed oven, which took six months to arrive here from France. They also use organic flour and free range ingredients in all their baking. I guess that explains the expensive prices. Maybe one day I will try a loaf, but in the meantime I'll keep buying my bread and pastries from the La Cigale Market at half the price...

I got the basic PBJ on a sesame seed bagel w/ crunchy peanut butter that I don't like but he never asked smooth or crunchy. I guess it's how it comes but it was tasty & hit the spot. The place is clean but I didn't realize the guys don't always wear gloves so that's a bit unsanitary bc they could have a rash or cut on their finger that may bleed into the food or cross contamination. Well, this is the answer: quite a lot of it comes from Swiss Konditorei Bern, where they bake great piles of delicious bread daily. Luckily they also have a few days a week where they are open to the great unwashed as well, so anyone can go in and buy baked goods from them. It's hard to recommend one thing over the other here because everything I've ever bought here is very very good, but my favourites are the small "health rolls" (wholemeal rolls with seeds and nuts) and at the other end of the health spectrum, the Matterhorns: cones of alcohol-soaked sponge covered in chocolate. They also sell a small range of Swiss smallgoods, such as salamis and other preserved meats. Finally, they're always very friendly here and happy to have a chat and recommend a particular bread for what you'd like it for, and everything is at a really good price.
