The NYT is the worst. I'm paying for a Sunday paper that I have not received in six weeks. Each time my paper is not delivered--and it's every Sunday now for six weeks--I call the Times and someone apologetically tells me they will have it redelivered and make sure that I receive it the following Sunday. And the paper is not redelivered, and the following Sunday I have no paper. The NYT is apparently trying to get their subscribers to stop ordering a hard copy of the Times and go digital, but they're not being honest about it. They don't even deserve one star. read more

I love NY Times and subscribed them for a long time when i lived in NYC. i think their delivery service was very good. I don't subscribe it since i live in Arlington VA. But, I prob will go back to subscribe NY Times because it's writing is much better than the local newspapers here. I still love their content and writing, but i noticed that NY Times writing is not as good as it used to have. read more

Adding my 1 star review for ridiculous customer service and non-delivery of the Book Review, which I ordered for my husband as a gift. I see now in reading the other reviews, it is a good thing that I did not sign up for the annual subscription, but only a one month trial. Two weeks, two supposed deliveries, and no Book Review. I too was on the phone for half an hour initially, and have had to call them back three times. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing, but the hands will be wringing each other when the layoff notices start flowing. And newspapers wonder why their circulation is dropping. Any time you need help on the subscription its a complete hell ride. The content it generally ok, but with us living on the west coast 80% of the content is not relavent some of the international articles are good otherwise might be better ones to use.. read more

I love this paper. But do not subscribe for home delivery. I repeat... don't do it. They will take your money and keep taking it and no one cares if you ever get a refund or not. After FIVE phone calls to get back $50 I still have no hope of getting my refund which is "stuck in accounting" according to them. I hate doing this because I am a believer in their great reporting, but I agree with other Yelpers, the billing department is the worst. I called in on 12/2/17 to cancel, they billed me $80 on 12/10/17 for another month of delivery at full price. I have called 5 times since. Not acceptable. read more

I am a resident of NY and love my NY Times. I've had a second home in LA for five years. I travel to LA several times a year, spending three to ten weeks during each trip. I always arrange a temporary change of delivery address so I don't miss reading my paper. In the past, my paper has always been delivered to my door with no problem. During my current trip I have not gotten a paper even once. I have complained several times with no results. I've been told that the delivery person cannot gain entrance. Funny, my neighbors get the LA Times delivered to their door every day with no problem. I even provided a code, that I verified, for the delivery person to gain entrance. They still maintain they can't get in. Shame on the NY Times and their delivery service. read more

The new York times appeared on my phone without me asking for it. And they had the audacity to bill me $15 per month for something that I did not want. When I asked them to credit my account, they told me that that is something they can't do. They can only credit me for the month of may, although I he been pleading with them since April. Each summer I transfer my delivery address from NY to San Diego 92037, and each summer my newspaper comes somethimes to my Apt. 304 in a large building, without a label on the paper or on the blue bag spelling out "Apt. 304." Usually a couple of phone calls to (800) 695-4687 sets it right, but this year I have called 5 times in two weeks, and still no label or marking. The NYT delivery service in San Diego is apparently uncaring about this, and the NYT in NY doesn't seem to want to get on the phone to demand that the paper be labeled. Too bad that an excellent product is spoiled by routine non-performance. read more

I became a New York Times subscriber because I picked up the paper occasionally and I liked the quality of the journalism. The New York Times is well organized, trustworthy, and fair in its reporting. I had no problems with the delivery, beyond asking them to please ensure a front door delivery, which after the first two days, they did consistently for over a year. Unfortunately I had to cancel my subscription due to budget concerns. After reading other reviews on here, I wasn't sure if I would get the run-around or not. To cancel, they make you call and talk to a person. How bad would it be, I wondered? What I found was a straightforward phone-tree, with "cancel subscription" as a plain option. I talked to an operator who offered me a better rate, but did not press when I had to refuse. Two days later my subscription was quietly ended and that was that. For the ease of delivery, subscription, and cancellation, as well as the quality of the product, I can't award anything less than five stars. Thank you, New York Times. read more

Excellent newspaper but near impossible to cancel. You wait on hold forever and then they transfer you and you wait forever again. I cancelled due to 3 missed papers in 3 weeks and well as failure to redeliver missed papers as promised. read more

I called NY Times to cancel my Sunday only subs about a month ago with no problem, they ask why and I told them that I have no use for the paper, then I saw that the credit card has been charge again two days after that call. I called again to dispute the charge, NY times told me that they have me on a recorded line that they offered me for a discounted price and I agreed to it. I told them that that's a lie. Unbelievable!!!!!! I told them that they r scamming me. That they r so desperate for subscriber and they r now lying to keep subscribers. They even told me why did I keep accepting the delivery just to give me guilt for accepting the paper. I told them that we r out most of the time Sunday's and I don't personally see the paper. Putting out quality news is expensive. NYT deserves subscribers. You'd think they'd be good to their subscribers. But all they can do is try to get more out of them. Constant, slimy, tricky ways to get their subscribers to buy more services. Then, you can't unsubscribe online. You have to chat or talk on the phone and be harangued with a myriad of canned marketing crap (you might as well be talking to a machine) to get you to stay. Come on NYT. You can do better than that. One price to pay for all. Really, recipes are extra----when I only want one every couple of months? How about some respect for those who understand your services don't come cheap and are willing to pay for them? Oh christ!!!!!!! I tried to get the New York Times as a gift for my mother in law and I've never regretted any purchase so much in my life. Instead of ending the subscription when it was supposed to, they continued it, couldn't charge it on our card and started sending our poor mom collection notices and freaking her out. Then, when I tried to pay the extra $50 for the extra deliveries I never asked for, they made me wait 30 minutes on hold saying i have to speak with an account manager to cancel my subscription. OH THAT"S INTERESTING. So easy to sign up and give them money but when it's time to cancel, get ready to spend an hour doing it! Then I had a woman tell me sorry for the wait and she would send me my cancellation number as soon as the payment went through so I wouldn't have to wait...... this was a week ago. Nothing. I am floored at how shady their customer service is, and i will never, ever, ever subscribe ever again. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A SUBSCRIPTION! IF YOU LOVE THIS PAPER, BUY IT FROM THE STAND! I have had difficulty getting satisfaction from the NYTimes for overcharging for digital service. The overcharge is over $1,000. The reason the Times requires that you call to cancel service is because then they have no paper trail that you can use to dispute. My call to cancel service on October 2013 was recorded as a request to hold for vacation. The Times must outsource circulation, customer service and distribution. And, they don't care if customers are not being well-served. Very frustrating and disappointed and sorry to say I am no longer a fan of the NYTimes that has given me so much enjoyment in the past. read more

If you have the New York Times delivered, you better hope their reporting is more accurate than their financial department. I have had the Monday thru Friday edition delivered for 2 yrs, and they have messed up my monthly invoice every month since I started the account. After several calls the first year, and no response to fix the acct, they finally said don't worry about it. The account was fine and it was because of the timing of their billing and the dates my checks arrived. I printed out the full year summary of my ACH payments, sent to them and no help. I have finally had enough and cancelled the account. After 5 more calls, and three more emails, they still can't fix the final bill. Pathetic financial department. Worst I have ever dealt with for any large corporation. The customer service people you final get on the phone try to figure it out, but can't and always have to put you on hold while they talk with a supervisor. Then usually, they loose the call and never call you back. Frustrating and really not worth the effort. My advice, do not trust their financial department nor their news coverage. read more
