He weighed over 350 lbs., and was developing all sorts of health issues that couldn't be explained by stress tests, MRI or CAT Scans. He was about to go to a Neurologist and put out who knows how much money for those tests. I have been Diabetic for over 20 years. My doctor had prescribed an insulin pump that I had been on for over a year because I was maxed out on all my meds and my Blood Sugars were consistently upwards of 220. I had been on Ozempic for over a year, and actually lost about 12 lbs. Then because so many doctors began giving it to patients for weight loss, I couldn't get it from my pharmacy for about 6 weeks. I gained all the weight back, and when I finally got back on it, here's the dirty little secret - the weight stayed. I couldn't lose it and I needed to lose about 70 lbs. We both snored and had both been prescribed C-pap masks, ( we never went that route), working out in our garden was a chore and soon became impossible. It was becoming intolerable. We had tried losing weight on our own and it was slow and soon we just gave up. We had talked about finding a weight loss program. There are lots of them on TV, but both of us had taken note of co-workers eating that food and it really didn't smell all that great, and we couldn't tell that it was doing much good. We also didn't want to become dependent of any pills or injections that we would be dependent on for the rest of our lives. We had heard Mark Davis and Rhonda K. Morland talking about SOTA on the Radio. As we looked into it we knew that it wasn't going to be cheap, mainly because between the two of us we had over 200lbs to let go of. It may sound silly, but one of my major concerns were the weekly weigh-ins that we were going to need to commit to. But do you know what? They have become the high point of our week. We absolutely love the Ladies at the Garland SOTA center there at the Firewall Plaza. Every Saturday since January we have made the 45+ minute drive to the office. Victoria, Jennifer, Jerusalem, and Audrey have become so dear to us. They have literally saved our lives. Especially my husband. During the past the 7 1/2 Months, he has been melting away. He has lost over 110 lbs. and I've lost 54 lbs. He has about 30 or so to go and I have about 16. Because the ladies at the Fire Wheel center are so wonderful, I have to say, that when we are done, I am really going to miss our visits. However- I will still look forward to our monthly visits while we maintain our weight. We have learned so much about the food that caused us to gain so much weight. I am now a perfect Diabetic. I'm just about off all of my medication. I was able to get rid of the Insulin pump within the first 6 weeks, and I've been reducing my other medication to a bare minimum. I have a strong family history, so I don't know if I will ever be free of it, but I am doing so much better. My husband Boley, is in the best health since he got out of the Army 30 yrs ago. All of his medical issues are gone, to include for the most part the Arthritis that has plagued him for years. The "Neurological" problems that he was dealing with have also disappeared. He used to ask his doctor, "Don't you think that I should lose weight?" they all discounted it and said that he was pretty healthy. Which led him to wonder, " then why do I feel like Crap?" Do you know how nice it is to be able to bend over and pick up things that have fallen to the floor, or to be sitting and realize that you are actually crossing your legs? Wearing your skinny clothes that you had put in the back of the closet. Being able to wear button Jeans and not just "stretchy" pants. This year has been an incredible journey. We had friends who at first wondered how long this fad would last, now they are pulling us aside and asking us what it is that we are doing. We brag on SOTA- It is State of the Art! This company takes advantage of people who are vulnerable, overweight and wanting to get healthy. Victoria told me that there were " doctors" on staff that could help clients if the weight loss was not working eating their foods. I tried eating their foods, following the schedule and for a month I lost 15lbs but the products and the "state of the art" weight loss strategies they promise with life time support is all a sham. They focus completely on what you weigh. They never took measurements. I never got to see a dr or get help when I plateaued. They're food did not help me stay in ketosis. Many of the foods would maje my sugar crash. They have nothing to offer you when you tell them this. They're standard response is asking you if you've logged on to their website to watch inspirational videos. The office has dwindled down to a skeleton crew and the vibration machines and tv screens that were installed in the back of the office are now gone. This has happened over the 18 months. I felt so duped that I have had to follow my own eating regiment without their products which is what they call the whole food approach. They hand you a schedule and write down to eat at 9, 12, 3 and 5 and that is what they consider "state of the art." My most recent visit, I felt obligated to go there to weigh in since I had given them so much of my money. I figured well I'm already screwed and gave them all my money but I'll just go in weekly for encouragement. In the last 3 weeks, I was starting to release weight I'd gained. Jerusalem shocked me in the session pulling out my initial contract. Please note: I had never been provided a copy of this contract either. She continued to point out that my 30 weeks were almost up. I looked at her bewildered and asked her," What are you talking about 30 weeks -this is a lifelong program and that's why I gave you guys thousands of dollars?" She responded saying, "Well, you signed this contract and I'm just doing my job." What????? She then passed me off to Victoria who had signed me up and I asked her what do you mean my 30 weeks are almost up? I'm not even eating your Sota food. I thought this sota program would be supporting me for my lifetime as she told me numerous times in the initial consultation. Supporting me by encouraging me and providing the weigh in appointment. Which takes about 5-10 min. Once a week. Victoria stated that she expected I'd lose weight within 30 weeks. And they provide lifetime weight maintenance. My response was well I didn't lose the weight in 30 weeks but I thought Sota would be with me and support me in my weight loss process for a lifetime not just 30 weeks. Her response was "Well, we won't kick you to the curb." I could not believe the response from her. So, I am disappointed in trusting this company. I have read other reviews about Sota in other towns with similar experiences. Also, I've noticed when Sota requests internal reviews and you don't give them are for five star review that review does not go through and you get an error. No one contacts you to find out what the complaint is about or show concern or try to help remedy the situation. This company in my experience has been dishonest and disingenuous. I learned no state of the art weight loss tactics that are not already free online using Hayley pomroy or just following a keto based diet. I met with no doctors to help me, yet I was told they had doctors on staff. I was promised a lifetime, weight loss, maintenance plan and they do not care about me nor my weight loss. They expected it to be gone in 30 weeks and since I did not meet that goal, they have no interest in helping me. Their products do not work long term and they do not have a state of the art weight loss program. I hope I help save people from throwing their money away.

Then a couple hours later called to reschedule because she's a nurse practitioner and doesn't do womens wellness. They rescheduled me for the next day with Kate _____ at the McKinney office. It was hard to find so I called, an a young lady who doesn't really speak well on the phone OR she doesn't speak English well. Either way she wasn't helpful. I called to ask what was the nearest landmark, and she asked was I using my GPS (like duh) then I asked what name is on their sign, and she asked me to hold. Like don't you walk into the building enough to know? Anyway, I walk in (no one greets me and idk which table to go to) and the front desk girly takes my id and insurance. She walks me back, gets my weight, and asks me medical questions. Strange because I've never had the receptionist double as the medical aide. She's super timid and in personable. I asked if the office was new and she said "she's doesn't know cause they're at this office a couple days a week"... so how don't you know! Anyway, it felt like somebody let their little sister or niece help. Front desk is a joke. No one greeted or directed me or offered to assist upon me walking into a place with 0 other ppl. Nurse Karen was my nurse and she was so sweet but I don't think she took the time to establish herself as my OBGYN. There was hardly nothing in the room. No one asked for a urine sample (as any doctor I've been to has always done for annual wellness visits). I decided to use the restroom and leave one & mentioned it, and the rude receptionist on today was like "that's good you left one just in case". Incompetent, unprofessional staff and practice. Why use the McKinney office if you don't have tools to operate. My visit was rushed. My concerns weren't really addressed because there's not enough medical tools within the McKinney office to properly assess you. It was a joke and they need to be offering better service cause there's no way this was a real exam. I didn't even want my blood drawn because it was going to be by the rude receptionist that I swear is incompetent to draw blood bc she is definitely not competent to ask for a urine sample. No I don't want to schedule my next annual because my first one was done like the wellness visit I do in the shower on my own (breast exam). Ok update after talking to Dr. Okuru I'm updating my review. Her and nurse Karen although nurse Karen has been amazing. This Rachel lady needs to be fired. She talks so much crap about patients after they leave the office, she treats these two young ladies horrible and talks crap about the Doctors. I've dealt with numerous health issues for years, and Audrey is one of the most impactful providers I've ever worked with. She didn't just help me manage symptoms, she helped me understand what was happening in my body, why it was happening, and how to address it in ways that felt realistic and sustainable. From the very first visit, Audrey made me feel heard. Not rushed. Not dismissed. She asks thoughtful questions, notices patterns, and treats every concern as important - because it is. After years of feeling like I was bouncing between providers trying to piece things together myself, that alone was a huge relief. From my first appointment with Audrey (now only realizing she's trained as an NP, not homeopathic care), I expressed a high level of urgency regarding my mold treatment. I fully understand that healing from mold exposure isn't an overnight process and can often take up to six months, which I was perfectly comfortable with. However, after five months under Audrey's care, I felt no changes or improvements whatsoever. I eventually discovered through my own research that she was treating me for a complex, two-year long CIRS protocol instead of the targeted mold treatment I had explicitly requested from her from the beginning. This shift in diagnosis and the extensive timeline of labs and appointments were never clearly communicated to me and I feel like I lost trust. While Audrey is an NP, she appears very new to the homeopathic field, and the lack of transparency regarding this long-term roadmap was very disappointing. Communication was also a major hurdle. Many of my messages went unanswered in the portal, requiring me to follow up with Audrey multiple times. I FULLY respect family time on the weekends but even when I messaged her during the regular work week, no response or a very lagged response. In one instance, I sent two messages in one day to get clarification on a treatment question. Not only did she not respond, but when I followed up a day later, she actually asked me to "refrain from sending more than one message a day" because they would get lost in her inbox. As a patient, I found it very difficult to be told I couldn't ask a follow-up question due to their system's limitations. Additionally, the portal is difficult to use and her appointment summaries were confusing. When I spoke to the owner she mentioned that because they aren't a concierge service, a 72-hour response time is the standard. Even within those parameters, the frequent lack of response made it very difficult to manage my health especially when trying to find relief from mold exposure. While I understand health practices need to bring in business, I felt strung along and like my care was being made into a 2 year mold healing process without my consent which could have more easily taken 6 months. Effective root-cause care should produce incremental markers of progress. Spending 5 months with zero symptomatic improvement--only to find out the 'plan' was actually 2 years long--suggests a lack of clinical direction. To put things in perspective: after only two weeks with a new provider, I already feel better than I did during the entire five months spent with Audrey McGinnis Stepka. While I appreciate the owner's willingness to listen, I cannot recommend Audrey at this time if you are looking for effective, transparent, and responsive mold treatment at this time. After giving feedback to the owner, I'm hoping Audrey will be more transparent with treatment plans for mold exposure for future patients and not try to string patients along into an extended and unnecessary treatment plan with very slow communication.
