Matt met with us personally and walked us through the process, helping us with each step. He was so professional and knowledgeable. We didn't feel rushed, and at no point did he try to upsell us. He listened, he made suggestions, and he and his team members were all so kind when we would call back with questions or needing clarification or further assistance. The death of a loved one is difficult and Matt and his team helped us from that first point of contact, right through to the day of the service, and even beyond when they provided follow up information and suggested resources. When a loved one dies the family…read moreis usually in crisis, unprepared for all the issues they now must face; while at the same time, they're in the process of grieving and dealing with the emotional upheaval that comes along with it. We came here to help an overwhelmed family plan their loved one's funeral service. Important questions to keep in mind are: what are the wishes of the deceased, and what does the family need to help them with the process of grieving. There are many options (ask for the cost of each) that the funeral home will give you, but you need to keep in mind that you are the one who decides what you want to include. A priority list needs to be made so important issues are addressed. Bring a trusted friend, family member or clergy member who can keep a cool head to help sort things out. Comfortable and spacious viewing rooms and a nice little dining room to hold a reception afterwards. I appreciated that they provided umbrellas to get back and forth between the two buildings and your car when it rained. Staff are respectful.

What a fabulous team…read more Imagine the stress of planning a wedding... in 3 days... well this is the level of planning needed for a funeral - and all on 1/8 of one's brain power! - trying to make decisions in the grieving stage is like trying to plan it on a rollercoaster, there's just only so much processing power, and SO much going on. Jill is extremely professional and compassionate. They are happy to handle as much or as little as you want. Whether it be facility, flowers, food, brochures, order of service bulletin, at a church, at their hall, at some of each, at none. Like a genie your wish is their command. Small or extravagant they are happy to do both or either - with the same level of professionalism. Lots of options for every price range. They also did the go-between communication for the cemetery, and have contacts for all the churches in town, and know all the right people to connect with, including the newspaper. They are just as happy if you want church to provided sandwiches or you to provide your own flowers, but if you'd rather not, they can do that too. Skwarchuck was wonderful with my family, and so accommodating and gracious with our extended family and friends at my mom's and sister's funerals. Never missed a beat, never dropped a ball, anticipated all and every need (such as does the deceased wear glasses? and added them such that the visual experience is how we know to see the person). They provide a handbook for after the funeral such as who to call to change information (Banks, insurance, gov't... and other places like elections Canada!) Pre-Planning - I would HIGHLY recommend... we thought all along my father in law wanted to be cremated and here when we asked him, he wants to be buried! They were excellent at pre-planning for my own father, they make it very neutral so no one feels bad, actually it's a huge relief, now that family doesn't have to bear the burden, and can just focus on the moment itself and not the 1000 details of a funeral, never-mind contacting all the family & friends. 1000 thank you's Skwarchuck Bradford location for taking such good care of my family. xoxo
