This cemetery is located in North York. There are viewing rooms and they can do your service and burial in this cemetery. It is an all faith cemetery. You can be buried in the same lot with people from different faiths. This place is extremely clean, staff is extremely helpful and nice. It's like you would love to have your service done here. Very peaceful.

York Cemetery which opened in 1948 and is full of colourful flower arrangements, unique architecture/sculptures and offers a beautiful walking path. Something about this place is super peaceful and at the same time quite a popular walkway in the neighbourhood. I think it's a really great place to walk and love how expansive it is in there.

I have been coming at least once a year to York Cemetery for years... Great location, just off Yonge Street and close to Sheppard Subway Station. Depends on when you visit, some days the cemetery can be full of garbage everywhere and some days it can clean and tidy with well maintained lawn. The graves are getting more and more packed over the years and those evergreens at some of the tomb markers really need some trimming. More garbage cans are need might help as most of the time the garbage overflowed and people start disposing their waste everywhere! The road inside the cemetery are really narrow... and people are parking their cars everywhere........ I guess I don't really want to come here.....

I did mention that the maintenance of the graveyard is really good in my last review... well my dad recently told me that during a visit in the past, we came by in the morning, and by the time my uncle's family visited later that day, our flowers were already missing. I'm not sure if they are so on top of maintaining the place that they already threw out our flowers before the end of the day or someone took it. But who takes flowers for the dead anyways?! We also notice the tombstone for our family and others are sliding slightly off center from the base.... so we'll have to send them a note to see if they can shift it back to the center. This year we are trying something different. We bought potted flowers and planted it on the ground next to the grave. Let's see on our next visit for Father's day if it's still there or alive. Likely unrelated though, I did just read a recent news article that there has been a string of thefts across 8 cemeteries including this one for valuable jewelry (especially inside mausoleum compartments). So those who have above ground urns or compartments, might want to check their niches or reconsider including any valuables inside.

Our first contacts were Garrett Shull  and   Emma Birdseye. They came to transport my mothers body.  They were both so very respectful and caring with us all. They handled our mom as if she were their own. Elizabeth Mendoza ,our funeral arranger was our next contact.  Caring, knowledgeable, explained every step and organized everything. Made sure we had everything  for our meeting at the mortuary .  Where we met with Elizabeth and Larry LaCost assistant Manager Cemetery  and Anna Stemmer.    Again, very knowledgeable, Caring,  but the most important thing was the love and humanity.  Ron Grant, Service director gravesite, showed all the love and caring . All of us shared stories funny and sad. And Horacio Berumen , our maintenance gentleman, who opened and closed the Bench my mom and dad both rest in now,   handled  my folks and my family with the greatest of care. And I don't want to forget the lovely lady who is the receptionist, the first person we greet, . Last but not least,  Lilly Navas , as we stood and talked to say our goodbyes, I want to say again what a wonderful caring staff . One more thing, we do not thank all of our  funeral and mortuary employees.  All of you went above and beyond with covids  aftermath. Working 15 hours a day . Refitting freezer trucks for remains of our loved ones. And you still have your love, your humanity and grace . There is so much more I would like to say; all good. REVIEW OF OUR FAMILY'S EXPERIENCE AT HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC FUNERAL HOME…read more I have been asked if I would be willing to provide a Review of the experience that my family had when we made our funeral arrangements with Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home for the funeral of my wife this past week. I would be very happy to provide a Review of our experience with the funeral home staff and personnel who assisted us at this most difficult time. Organizing a funeral where many people in our family were not living in Toronto is a difficult thing to do. But we were so fortunate to have assigned to our funeral two outstanding funeral directors: Ms. Marie Montes and Mr. Liam Belch. Marie spent hours with me in the funeral home as we went over together the structure and process of organizing the funeral for my wife. And she provided insightful commentary on other important issues pertaining to the funeral, such as what type of flower arrangement I should choose for my wife, and what an appropriate verse for our Prayer Card for the deceased should convey to those who are left behind to mourn her loss. Throughout the entire time that Marie was with me, on every occasion she displayed her professionalism, compassion and sensitivity to our family's needs at this most difficult time in our lives. The day of the funeral and interment was an especially difficult day for me as a husband, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to both Marie and Liam for the incredible kindness and support they extended to me personally on that day. Some Reviews have made the claim that Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home charges higher costs for their funerals than do other funeral homes in Toronto, or Ontario. Research conducted by this Reviewer suggests that the evidence does not support this claim. The reality of the matter is that in 2026, the average funeral cost in Ontario depends on the type of service. A traditional funeral usually costs between $9,000 and 15,000 or more before cemetery costs. A full Toronto burial can reach $19,800 or more when funeral home fees, transportation, a casket, cemetery plot, interment charges, and monument are included. Based on this data, Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home is not charging more for its funeral services than other funeral homes in the city of Toronto (Average Funeral Costs in Ontario and Toronto 2026). Therefore, if any Catholic in the city of Toronto is thinking about having their funeral at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, I cannot highly recommend enough the staff and other personnel at this funeral home. You will be treated with compassion and care during this most difficult time in your life.

My husband was buried less than a year ago my family is in Europe I am a senior and trouble walking I told the cemetery to please hold off throwing out the beautiful cross the family put money together to buy. But when I called today they basically said too bad, rules have been the same for years. They have no heart its all about money. Hopefully someone will go through the garbage and use the beautiful cross that was for my husband. Its terrible they did it to everyone whoever could not make it, you could not make arrangements everything garbage. What a sin, I thought this was a catholic cemetery.
