I had a really good experience with this shop. Had a one-shot job to cut & trim my son's yard while he was on vacation. Ryan was courteous, cooperative and did what and when he said he would. I inspected the yard afterward and was VERY pleased with the work. Charges were also very fair. I could not believe the other reviews. Horrible!!! I normally give companies a chance to right their wrongs and use that as my final determination, this was not one of those as the disrepect to my lawn was so egregious. I hired these guys to trench my beds and add mulch. What I got was a rush job using a lawn edger and not a garden trencher, blowing mulch all over my lawn. Owner said there's deep trenches that i just had to pull back the mulch, nope only trenches I found were the ones I cut 5+ years ago and they still are better than those done by this "professional" crew. They also trimmed my bushes; I will be lucky if some of them even survive as there's not much left of some of them. They left the trimmings on top of my lawn and new mulch, so much for the statement in the work summary that they would clean up and bag them...Large patches of grass were left in the beds sticking through the mulch. They even mulched over my irrigation valve leaving me to dig it out. I could have had Home Depot deliver a pallet of mulch and paid a couple of teenagers for a quarter of the price and a lot better result. Worst of all they cut my lawn, which was NOT agreed to nor even wanted. They trimmed the edges so short that parts of the grass are now dying from stress. They ran over all of the bush trimmings sticks and all grinding those and the old mulch deep into the turf. I've spent my ENTIRE weekend so far raking and picking up by hand over 10 Gallons of sticks and old much over the entire yard. Thier mower blade is not sharp in the slightest and tore the grass instead of cut. My lawn is now developing large yellow spots from thier improper care. After all of this all I got out of this was a very sore back and a hole in my wallet, nothing was done right. I now have to hire another company to come in and properly trench my beds, and large repairs to my lawn come fall. read more

Our neighbors use them for lawn care. They blow all the leaves into my property; as far down as the property line allows. Then today they proceeded to leave a nice mess of pine straw and leaves in the gutter right in front of our house. Then they lined the bags of our neighbors debris right up next to the pile; ensuring the pile doesn't move. Since the did the concerted effort to bag the debris I'm sure they could have picked up what was in the gutter in front of my neighbors house instead of leaving in front of mine. That to me is LAZY!! The icing on the cake was looking out my bathroom window while getting ready, and seeing an employee relieving himself against my neighbors shed. Yes, this shows great professionalism. If I was ever thinking of hiring a landscaping company- it sure would NOT be this one. read more

After this summer's mowing from Newell, my backyard looks like an offroad dirt bike track! Ruts from their mowers everywhere. This morning they were trying to mow where the sprinklers were running! Also, ran into one of the gutters by the house crushing the gutters. I do not recommend them for lawn service! read more

I've seen these geniuses show up at the crack of dawn, unpredictably, for months. They never do much beyond running loud lawn equipment while everyone sleeps. DO NOT ASK THIS GUY FOR A QUOTE: You will never be able to get rid of him. This guy has serious problems. I contacted him back in May 2016 for a lawn care quote. Not only does he leave a quote on your door, he e-mails, and calls you. This in it self way to way too much. He has continually called at least 5 times, left quotes and e-mails after I told him the first time NO!!. Either him or someone from his office has harassed me so much, I called in June and talked with someone asking they not contact me again, but he refuses to take NO for an answer. This week I received another quote on my door, e-mail, and phone call. I e-mailed him a nice little note to again try to get through to him if that's possible. I even sent the e-mail I sent to him to the BBB. Mark Newell lied to BBB and said I only contacted him for the first time a couple days ago. He went on about his 30+ years of happy customers. I don't care about how many customers you have and don't want to be one. If you aren't turned of by his phone pitch going on and on about I need to pay him $190.00 per month for 12 months and everything you get for price and your savings. Mark - you can't cut all the lawns in Hampton Roads and have no right to harass anyone. read more

I emailed a request for a meeting - per the website - to discuss two different residential projects at my home in Chesapeake. I included my phone number and approximate location. Mark Newell responded, via email, asking for my address. I would typically only provide my home address AFTER coordinating a meeting, but decided to give him the benefit of doubt. The company has all the appearances of size and credibility; and I figured he may be developing a weekly travel plan. So, to clarify in my response, I reiterated the best meeting times. I never heard back from him. However, returning from work, I found a scribbled estimate form in my mailbox. Referenced were every variety of unsolicited lawn care tasks. Mr. Newell ignored my emails and took it upon himself to survey our property in my absence, without reply or notification. When I called to express my disappointment, he was incredulous, offering a rambling description of the company's substantial work volume as an explanation.
