I'll start by saying the rep was a nice lady who took notes and pictures to estimate on widening my driveway. After sending 50% deposit on Monday, I didn't hear from them until I called on Thursday to find out when they were scheduling the start date. The rep said they are finishing another job and will come out later the same day. Two guys arrived after 4 pm. to start digging. At 6 p.m., they left with no word as to when they would return. I called the rep to find out the plan, and she said they would return on Friday, at the same time as before. They didn't return, and I didn't call because it was Friday evening, and I thought that I may have gotten scammed, so I just waited to see if they would return. They didn't show up again until next Tuesday morning. No phone call, they didn't knock to let me know anything or even apologize for taking a week to complete a 2 day job. On top of that, the work was poor. Another concrete guy looked at their work and said it was embarrassing! I'm glad some people before me found satisfaction, but I would not waste my time with such unprofessional people like this. If they had been willing to say they were still busy and schedule a future date that would have been ok with me but to say nothing and show up when you want, totally unacceptable. Outdoor Drainage Solutions installed a drainage system in one day that drains all the excess water. It worked so well, that I had him return and add the front yard rain gutter down spouts to the system. This required cutting the concrete sidewalk and driveway. After his crew installed the drain pipe Tony had a concrete finisher replace the removed walkway and drive way section. This was also done in one day. Tony and his crew did exactly what we discussed during the initial walk through and I am very s satisfied with the work Outdoor Drainage Solutions did.

Residence is in Chesapeake; Greenbrier Area. After a walk-through, Tony provided a quote for ~$2,500 or $2,300 as a cash discount. I opted for the cash discount since ODS was unable to take CC payment. Upon completion of the work, I met with Tristian (Employee) for a walk-through and notice that Tony did not install drainage piping along the entire length of the fence as discussed. I called Tony and everything went south. Tony attempted to convince me that I (customer) did not need what I initially ask and was quoted for in the beginning. Tony began to accuse me of screwing him over. I explained that I was willing to pay half and the remaining balance following the completion the next day. Tony continued to lobby for more money to pay his team - I agreed to pay ~$2K and remaining balance the next day upon completion but only with a paid invoice noting the terms of completion. Tony sent via email and I paid Tristian in cash. Tristian left, I sent Tony a text and video as proof of payment. Here where it gets nasty. I called him to confirm receipt of the text. Tony cussed me out, threaten to sue, called me a completely inappropriate word, hung up and blocked me. Then, he text me to reiterate it. Text msg attached. Take away here - be careful of doing business with guy in particular! Over to you to determine the validity here. But this review is completely warranted as well as court proceeding that will follow.

We had our driveway graded and re-graveled, and the job was done quickly and with proper equipment. It was an expensive improvement, but A-1 beat the price of another highly recommended service. When we were given a price, it was based on having to bring in heavy equipment to remove the stumps and level the yard. Since we are not knowledgeable about such things, we believed that this was necessary. The next day, the guy shows up with four guys who have nothing more than shovels. They spent less than 2 hours removing the stumps and only leveled out where the stumps had been. When questioned about this, we were informed the price was the price - regardless of the means to accomplish the task. Definitely a misrepresentation of the services and equipment required. We paid something like $375 an hour based on being mislead as to what was required. Later we learned that our neighbor hired them a year ago to the tune of $10k and they never finished the job. This company is misleading at best.

At first, everything was great, but recently there have been a lot of problems and it mostly boils down to the people who come to mow the yard and not the people in the office who are great (Mel, Cindy, Aaron). I have to be totally honest, it's not all bad, they are responsive to concerns and they always call you back. Aaron and his dad, Mel, will personally call you and/or come over whenever there is an issue and Cindy is very helpful and runs a tight ship on the phone from their office. In addition to weekly mowing services, they do landscaping and have mulched for me and installed metal edging and did a good job. They also have seeded my yard for me at the end of season and that turned out pretty well. I had a few issues with some landscaping and they were quick to come over and make it right. I also had an issue where they kept hitting my porch step repeatedly and it ate it away the wood but they did pay to repair it when I had it fixed. I basically live in Back Bay and my yard retains a lot of water so I've had a bunch of issues with ruts in the yard and them driving through the mulch beds instead of weed eating or taking a little extra time not to tear up my yard when there is bad weather. No, you can't control the weather, but you can do some stuff to not be so hard on someone's yard (like weed eat instead of drive the zero turn over problem areas, etc.) and I haven't seen any of that recently. It's constant pain and irritation on my end and I'm sure they're tired of me calling to complain as much as I'm tired of being irritated by the crappy care taken in my yard. I'm pretty unhappy with the quality lately of the weekly service I'm paying for and the guys who come cutting corners with the weekly maintenance. I've included photos. The guys who come sometimes drive the entire wheel through the length of my mulch bed, over the sprinkler heads, and undoing the mulching and edging I pay for annually. They also repeatedly turn the zero turn in the exact same spot and drive ruts in mud through the yard every week and kill the grass I pay $300-400 to have seeded and $500-700 to have treated. It's a lot of money to have careless services, so I've decided to go with someone else who perhaps has less yards to mow, but won't cut corners to be quick. I'm tired of worrying about it. It's clearly just not a good fit with my yard.

Owner Aaron exhibits old-school integrity and is wicked smart with respect to trees, grass, flowers, etc. Pretty certain he knows the Latin names for all the plants too. His services are priced affordably (lower than the big national companies) and the results are noteworthy. We've had him install French drains, sump pumps, remove bushes, grate & level our yard after a giant tree removal, install a 16 x 70 paver patio and a separate patio off our master, and of course maintain our grass. I recommend him for all your landscaping needs.
