I am not one to to break a contract but I did not feel the designers were utilizing my time but more importantly staying focused on my budget. As I bid my farewell, I decided to take the complete redo of my new home in my own hands. During this time, I was trying to keep my head above the water making design choices with tile, paint lighting, furniture, etc. In addition, I was the general contractor and hired the people to do the work. Then I met James, the owner and master designer of Holloway Design Group. As I was drowning in this project, I was at Sunnyroad Interiors Design Center picking out fabric. I saw James and randomly asked him what he thought about my fabric choices. James, on his own time, began to assist choosing stunning fabrics. Before I knew it, he was putting my mind at ease and I loved his choices. This was the serendipitous event. I am ever so grateful of this event because I met James! James has been working for me since then. James work ethic is on top, because he is organized with appointments, vendors and invoices. He keeps you informed but most importunately he listens. I actually was up front with James in the beginning and said, we need to be transparent with each other and we have. James is respected in the showrooms we visited and contractors that we have interacted with. James' eye for design is truly outrageously stunning, gorgeous and WOW! James is ahead on trends with interior design. He is a natural when putting colors together. I must admit when people come over and say, "WOW!" I have to respond, "It was James." In the end, James has snap and is a mover and shaker. I am honored to be working with him and I would have it no other way. We are still waiting for furniture, due to shortage, however I promise pictures in the future. If you question if you should hire James, call him and request to talk to me as a reference. I would be so happy to talk with you. James is the best!

One day in the fall of 2020, while walking across our porch, my husband's foot punched through a…read morespot of rotted wood. We promptly decided it was time to have it replaced...better than ever before! We got a couple bids for the job. But Charles really stood out because: 1. After walking the job, he promptly sent a detailed bid and CAD drawing. We refined the scope several times and every time he would promptly refine the quote and redo the CAD drawing. Very good follow through. Not pushy, just responsive. 2. He had a large book of color photographs of his work that helped us choose finishes and make design decisions. He has done a TON of patios and pergolas in different styles. I love this book because there are a lot of decisions to make -- it's easier to point to the picture you like more vs. having to imagine if you want feature A or B. In terms of price, Charles was in the middle -- not the highest bid and not the lowest. But we got the best feeling from him, and that's what is important to me. We redid our kitchen two years ago and our general contractor (not Charles, obviously), fled the country in the middle of the job after a progress payment! Yikes, bad memories. I am very happy with how my patio and pergola turned out; we seriously live outside now. We have a plexiglass cover (to protect from rain) and fans (to help somewhat with the Texas heat). Charles and his crew were great overall. Pluses: - They only do outdoor patios and pergolas. This is what they are good at and they are fast. - Charles was here a lot, especially at first to get the job started. He didn't just oversee progress, he was out there working and sweating with his men. - Charles helped to perfect the design while the job was in progress. He had his wife paint several different colors of grey stain onto sample boards so we could choose the right one. We spent a few hours perfecting the brick pattern on the columns. He wanted us to be happy with the final outcome. - Flexible with changes with very few change orders. I must have added 10 electrical outlets...didn't get a bill for it. So unusual for a GC. - Open to feedback when we felt like something wasn't perfect. Because they were outside my kitchen window, I would do dishes and watch progress unfold. And let him know when I didn't like something. Absolutely never got push back from him. He would call his crew or come by and fix it immediately. - Follow through has been great. Even after we were all paid up, he sent over a crew a couple times because rain was getting through my plexiglass cover. Again, so unusual for a GC. Minuses: - I wish they would broaden their scope from just outdoor patios and pergolas to other things. I have a bathroom I would love for them to remodel. Ah well. Anyway, check out the pictures. One of the prettiest patios and pergolas I have ever seen, and I'm lucky enough to have it in my backyard.

We hired Collinas for a…read moremaster bathroom remodel after previously completing a major kitchen remodel with another company and were looking for a bit more help with the design. Overall, the experience of working with Collinas was a huge disappointment. Design help was minimal, there was no regard for the schedule (job was 3 months late), the quality was poor, and they were expensive. If you choose this company, be prepared to be your own QC inspector, because our project manager did none. Even basic craftsmanship like pulling tile from different boxes to even out the color was not done or checked by the PM. Frankly, I can't understand how they stay in business with the amount of re-work they do. They did most of the big jobs (tile, floors, plumbing install) at least twice. The PM argued vigorously with me that the sound and feel of grinding metal in the shower diverter valve was "normal." Only after I downloaded the installation instructions and sent them to him did they call in a professional. At the end, we were so tired of trying to get a quality job out of Collinas we ended the job before the final punch list was complete. I simply could not stand to have them in my house any longer.
