Getting to C&H can be a challenge with luggage or young children in tow unless you drive or Uber. The Kew Bridge train station just across the Kew Bridge from Kew Green/C&H and the Kew Gardens Underground station when coming from London have many steps to negotiate so as to make them impractical options. That said, a kind local woman told us a clever trick for avoiding the pedestrian bridge steps of the Underground Kew Gardens station--stay on the train to the Richmond station (which has a center platform) and then ride the train back to Kew Gardens. Upon returning from Richmond (a short ride), you are now on the C&H side of the platform with no need to cross over the pedestrian bridge with its many steps. You will walk about a mile from the station to the hotel or you might just Uber the remaining distance. The staff members of the C&H are very friendly and helpful. The room (in our case, Room 7) was clean, bright and well appointed. Ours was a ground floor accommodation, but there is an elevator for higher floors. The room was quiet and dark enough for a good night's sleep. The bathroom has a toilet, sink and shower with overhead and handheld options. There is a television, a small, well-stocked refrigerator and a radio. Lighting and electrical outlets are plentiful. The double bed was quite comfortable. We had dinner at the C&H restaurant which operates on the ground floor in the front of the establishment (you actually walk through the restaurant to get to the reception desk of the hotel). After sitting at an outside table for a bit, I went back inside and ordered drinks and food. Our food was quite good (fish and chips for her, chicken for me) with an excellent selection of drinks from their full bar. I recommend the Camden Hells as a solid local beer option. Our stay came with breakfast. The C&H has a full breakfast menu and we left satisfied with the options available. We asked for (and received) a late check out so that we could spend the morning at Kew Royal Botanical Gardens before our departure. Kew Gardens opens at 10 am and is a 10-minute walk from the C&H. The Elizabeth Gate of Kew Gardens is located behind the church across the road from the C&H. We spent two hours in the gardens, but could have done much more. Do not miss the Palm House (scheduled for renovation in 2025). There's an ATM next to the Sainsbury's grocery just across the Kew Bridge on the left-hand side as you approach from Kew Green. As an unexpected added bonus, there is a recent Banksy artwork displayed on the side of a building in Kew Green next to Kew Bridge. It is a five-minute walk from the C&H. If I have any compliant, it would be the rate. The hotel says that you will receive the best rate by booking directly through them. I did, but later discovered a better rate. As with most things, it's best to shop around. As you might have guessed at this point of my review, I highly recommend the Coach & Horses for your next stay in the greater London metro.

Pimlico is a wonderful neighborhood to stay in - safe, lots of cafes for morning coffees and baked goods, (we liked Gail's especially) and the hotel is a few short blocks from the Pimlico station, and easily walkable to the Victoria station. In addition to tube proximity, we could walk to many sights, or catch the 24 bus to the West End for theater and restaurants. John, Manuela, Lauren and Nikita were all so helpful, kind and welcoming, and we find that it's so much nicer to stay at a family-run hotel than a big chain. Beds are comfortable and we slept so well. As others said, if stairs are an issue for you, do request a lower floor when you book, and they seem to do their best to accommodate. We really liked our room on the lower level - so cozy and quiet.

It's situated right in the heart of the village, surrounded by lovely landscaped gardens, lake and a fountain The local library is located here. There are function rooms of different sizes for hire - big enough for small meetings through to weddings. Downstairs, there is a large theatre area with a stage. It stages evening dance classes through the week. I come here for salsa lessons and club on Friday evenings. There are also art exhibitions in the foyer and you can apply to display your work here. In my case it was 3 months wait , ok because they tell you that, and they did ring me just before Christmas and arrange a first appointment, when I went there, and a final one when the items I needed arrived; an evening one ! I know people whinge occasionally, but they are so busy ,that I did not expect to hear early this year for the original assessment. But they fitted me in after Boxing Day Bank holiday last Year!

We found out about Cherry Court Hotel from a Rick Steves book. We had never visited London before…read more In my research, I realized Cherry Court had a fantastic price and the location near Victoria Station made it handy. The booking process was more involved than doing a usual online booking but not difficult: I emailed the owner to request certain days (about 6 months ahead of time) and had a reply in about 10 minutes saying the days were available and we needed to call to supply a credit card to pay for our first night. We did that promptly and had a choice of first or second floor. We went with 2nd, after asking which was quieter. I didn't hear from them again in advance of our dates but everything was ready when we arrived. A quick walk up the steep, narrow stairs, and we were in our cozy room. As tight as space was, it worked out well. The bathroom is itty bitty but the shower and toilet worked great and fresh towels were supplied each day; soap was supplied, but not shampoo or conditioner. The bed takes up much of the room. The mattress is good and I liked my memory foam pillow. I asked for a hair dryer at the front desk and it worked great. There are lots of plugs, UK three-prong and USB, on two sides of the room. They supply a nice fruit basket for breakfast each day; ours had 2 bananas, 2 small apples, 2 clementines, a Nature Valley granola bar, a pack of digestive biscuits or ginger biscuits, and 2 Capri Suns. There is also a carafe of water, drinking glasses, a hot water kettle and instant coffee, and a telephone. Also, downstairs by the office they have hot and cold water on tap. Noise wasn't a problem either from the street or other rooms. Heavy rain woke me up often one night, but that's not an issue on them. The room doesn't supply much social or work space; there was a table along a stairway landing if needed. However, that was a minor issue for us, as we planned to be out adventuring all the day long. If you want a room to allow you to hang out or have guests, you had best look elsewhere. As promised, the place was very convenient to Victoria Station. That was fantastic! There's even a decently sized Sainsbury's grocery store with long hours right at the most convenient station entrance. That makes it an easy stop to get toiletries or food. I would stay at Cherry Court Hotel again. Quarters may be tight, but that's the norm for London, and the people here are nice and there are positives galore. Rick Steves was right to recommend this place.

We booked here because of an engagement in Balham the night we arrived and were pleased to find that it was directly off the Tube exit (it was new enough it didn't have a map point) which was extremely convenient for the luggage we were dragging for a week abroad! The staff was very friendly, and I appreciated the early check in option, as well as the breakfast box (since there isn't an in house restaurant or buffet) that's available for about 5 pounds each. The rooms are spartan, but about as inexpensive as you'll get for a private room in London (from what I've seen) and the bed and TV will do the trick! Wireless is paid, there are only a few plugs for charging/plugging in, but there's a decent shower and a desk as well as an electric kettle with an assortment of Nescafe and teas. Plus, this one is walking distance to a lot of shops and restaurants and we enjoyed walking around to see what Balham had to offer! Since the hotel is so new, it has some downsides for those of us with delicate sinuses-- the dust is still settling, the drywall still in its extended curing process, and the carpet recently glued so my husband and I both had some weird headachey type feelings while we were there. The Tube is right next to the hotel, but we live in an area with a train so we didn't notice it as much as I thought we would! All in all, I would probably try this place out again in another year or so after everything's settled in and dissipated. The only thing I wish is that, since they offer early check in for a rate, they could also offer early check out for a discount... but we could probably say that for most hotels ;)

The room had two twin beds, a desk and bureau, small refrigerator, closet, TV, and a bathroom with full bathtub and shower and large medical cabinet. It was incredibly spacious by London standards. Of course, not all was glorious: the room was very warm and humid even with air conditioning cranked as low as it could go, and our window view looked upon a nasty-looking cement drainage basin between buildings. I kept the curtains closed. A minor issue, all considered, but worth noting. The room was nice and quiet. Few rooms were along that hallway so there was little foot traffic, and no street traffic near us at all. I actually slept pretty well. Everything in the bathroom worked without issue. We loved having a fridge in our room--there's a great Waitrose right across the nearest intersection, which made it easy to stash food and drinks in our room! The front desk staff was very pleasant whenever we passed through. Room service did a good job whenever they came by each day. The breakfast buffet was included with our room package. The best way to describe it is "meh," as it largely consisted of generic, made-long-in-advance foods like you'd find at a cheap motel chain breakfast buffet in the US. The only stand-out was the strawberries, which were fresh and fantastic. The staff there was nice and eager to help, but the mediocre food just didn't make it worthwhile to utilize again. The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic. It's just across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station. This was an easy connection point into the city, and on the direct Piccadilly line to Heathrow. Within walking distance are numerous restaurants of various ethnicities and price points, plus several great museums. We enjoyed the short walk up to Kensington Palace and Hyde Park. The neighborhood felt very safe.
