Avoid Newnan Bottle Shop at all costs. The owners are some of the most selfish, ungrateful, and unprofessional individuals I've ever experienced & shopped with. They show blatant disregard for their employees' well-being and treat staff & customers --especially minorities--with clear prejudice and discriminatory behavior. It's a toxic, demoralizing environment where hard work is ignored, boundaries are constantly crossed, and respect is nonexistent.
The management enforces inconsistent, ever-changing policies that create constant confusion. There are no clear expectations--only sudden rule changes and selective enforcement. Employees are randomly accused of theft without cause, fostering a culture of mistrust and fear. At the same time, they routinely invade personal space by moving employees' belongings--water bottles, purses, bags--without asking or informing anyone.
Favoritism is rampant and obvious. Certain employees are openly allowed to wear AirPods, use their phones behind the counter, call out last minute, or reserve time off without issue--while others are strictly punished for the exact same actions. This bias is shown boldly and unapologetically in front of the entire staff, creating a hostile and unfair work environment that crushes morale.
They care nothing for safety. During a power outage, they forced employees to continue working in a dark store full of customers, using calculators and cash, despite concerns about personal safety. In another instance, staff were expected to come to work in the middle of a snowstorm, regardless of the dangerous road conditions. These actions show a clear and disturbing lack of concern for the physical safety of their workers.
Their prejudice extends to customers. The owners have a disturbing tendency to closely monitor and pry over minority customers as they shop, often shadowing or watching them with suspicion. It's demeaning, uncomfortable, and completely unacceptable. As a customer, it sends a loud and clear message: they want your money, but not your presence. That kind of energy is offensive, outdated, and has no place in any business--especially one that claims to serve the public.
Add to all this their outrageous price gouging and it becomes clear: this is a business run with complete disregard for both customers and employees. It's built on exploitation, favoritism, and toxic control.
Even basic gestures of goodwill are being stripped away at Newnan Bottle Shop. The military discount--once a small 5% token of respect--has now been cut to a mere 3%, making it clear that appreciation for service members is more of a performative gesture than genuine gratitude. It's a slap in the face to veterans and active-duty personnel, and another example of how profit matters more to these owners than principle.
The management has zero regard for the lives or families of their employees. American holidays are treated as just another business day, and employees are expected to work without hesitation--even when it means sacrificing time with loved ones. There's no understanding, no flexibility, and no compassion for workers who want to honor their families and traditions. It's an environment completely devoid of empathy or human decency.
The owner/manager has shown blatant harassment tendencies--going as far as berating an employee for not answering a phone call outside of work hours, demanding that when he calls, she must pick up. This level of control is invasive, unprofessional, and inappropriate. It crosses every boundary of healthy employer-employee relations, making it clear that respect is not a two-way street in this business.
In a particularly disgusting example of management's lack of compassion, one employee was asked to provide proof of a family member's death just to be allowed time off--simply because it happened to fall on the same day another coworker was off. Rather than offering support during a painful and personal time, they chose to question her truth, showing how little empathy or basic human understanding exists within this workplace.
