This is one of the coolest smaller supermarkets I've ever been to... it doesn't help that I happen to completely be obsessed with Halloween - and they decorated their entire store really really well for Halloween... but also their selection is phenomenal! Their customer service is excellent as well (super friendly!) We will definitely be back many more times, and cannot recommend it enough! read more

The market itself is great, not the least expensive, but great selection of multiple brands in dairy, bread, etc, the meat dept was great, fresh seafood and beef, it all looked great. The only downer was the parking. The lot is tight and full, hard to find a spot if you are driving a pickup or bigger SUV. Hard to park and get out, so guess the negative is that the positives make it a popular place, and that makes parking harder. read more

I found everything I needed (except pomegranate seeds) and more! The store is well stocked not only with a wide variety of food items, but they also have great housewares, gifts and pet supplies. Several workers very kindly asked me if I was finding what I needed, and without asking, the bagger helped me to my car. What a great shopping experience! read more

What a lovely market. I can't guarantee the prices compared other bigger- chain grocery stores. I haven't done a thorough comparison, but the prices seem reasonable to me. I stopped by a few times, cuz it was one-block away from our Airbnb. And, I got some practical things like olive oil, baby wipes, and some other things like kombucha and beer. The local microbrews were about $11 for a 6 pack, so that is pretty good! They also have local bakery goods from Sparrow and other bakeries, and all the displays are really eye-catching. read more

Nice local market in the Westside of Bend, pretty similar to Whole Foods. I love that they have yumm sauce here and local goodies. A little bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The mural in the side is also super cute! Great for pictures if you're visiting. read more

This is the most fun grocery shopping experience you'll have in Bend. Staff always available for help, fun 80's (usually) music playing to dance to in the aisles, wine and beer tastings on Fridays....And they are employee owned so they get a living wage. Kudos! read more

Seafood - cod and swordfish this last trip - was as good as it gets. It was outrageously fresh and delicious, and you pay for it! Sales folks were pleasant. Vegetable selection ample & fresh. Great that it carries local, roasted-in-Bend coffee beans. Surprised that baked goods are not stocked from the good bakery next door. Great that it has 2 cart sizes - the higher/smaller ones are kinder on the back. read more

A grocery market as destination stop? Yes, indeed. This should be for you if you're visiting Bend. We moved away from Bend almost three years ago after sixteen years as residents. It was time and there isn't a lot about Bend we miss. But boy, oh boy do we miss Newport Avenue Market. So much that when we are in town to visit relatives this is destination and we carry with us a Newport Avenue shopping list because we know they will always have what we need. And also some things we didn't know we need until we see them here. During this week's trip the former included Barley Malt Syrup (for a New York Times dessert for Easter dinner) and tamarind paste (because I'm almost out from the last jar I bought here and no grocer in our area seems to sell it) and beautiful fresh rapini (for dinner tonight now that we are home) and seasonal cocktail napkins (they have the BEST selection) and a favorite Oregon vintner's wine (because you need something to serve with the cocktail napkins of course). The things we didn't know we needed until we saw them were two different kinds of Peruvian chili pastes (love Peruvian food) and even the "this is PERFECT" accessory (for a shelf in my home). Alas we couldn't transport home any of the wonderful seafood from the fresh fish case but as we looked at it we marveled that it was once so darned easy to get such great quality seafood and meats too right in our neighborhood. We appreciated this then so we knew we'd miss it now. Not to mention the always friendly staff are so super and it is fun that they even remember my husband and me when we shop there although we've been away for three years and several months pass now between visits instead of the few days in between when we lived in Bend. If I were Queen I'd wave my scepter and annoint Newport Avenue Market to open an Idaho store near my neighborhood here! read more

Tonight, I went to Newport to grab a 12 pack of beer. Was denied service because they claimed my ID was a fake. Moved from North Carolina, had 2 spare forms of ID, still denied. Better off just going to Safeway. Thanks Newport! -I would encourage your staff to learn to identify out-of-state identification, to avoid future issues. read more

Super stoked to check this place out after reading so many raving reviews. Sadly as much as I'd like to support locally owned business I just can't justify paying 10-20% or even higher mark ups on basic items like eggs and dairy. 50 pp for fresh king salmon literally made me laugh out loud. Happy Egg Heritage eggs that is normally 7.99 and can be found in any grocery store is 10.99 here. Kudos to the locals who don't mind throwing away money just for the sake of supporting local businesses. Great selection of wine/beer though. read more

Re; deli showcase: I,ve been a customer for the past 9 years. I tend to buy the same couple of salads every week --and I couldn't find them. They were all mixed in with entrees---it LOOKED very confusing and EXTREMELY disorganized. Bottom line--I don,t like the change AT ALL, and I overheard other people say the same--- Go back to the way it was, please. Thank you. P.S. Consistently consistent. No matter who springs up in town we always return here. Amazing selection of just about everything and all top quality. In the decades we have shopped here, never experienced an unhappy or unhelpful employee. The only problem is at peak hours parking can be an issue but if you shop off hours you're fine. Excellent wine selection and advice with prices will within reason. Also a great store for gifts, cards, and cookware. read more

Wowzer this store has everything .. tons on gourmet food .. a deli.. bakery.. liquor store .. a huge selection of wine and a bunch of microbrewery choices for beer. It's a bit on the pricey side so not the place to do your big shopping.. but go here anyway grab a bottle of wine some yummy cheese and walk to a local park and enjoy : ) Tip... they have a bunch of cool and unique things to buy for gifts .. and every color hydro flask they make lol. LOVE this market! From their grab and go foodie meals to the tantalizing sweets to the incredible loaded mashed potatoes to the wine to the...I could go on an on. The staff were so friendly, any staff member who passed me interacted with me. Decided to order a sandwich. The guy who helped me (Alex) was great, taking care when he made my sandwich (which was delicious by the way). Oh, can't forget the rib eye...it looked amazing, I'll definitely pick some up next time around! This market is the perfect place to pick up food for a picnic! A+ in my book! read more

We just love this store. It's a drive for us. But it's a lovely drive. There isn't too much you can't find for a wonderful dinner. An amazing wine selection. Don't want to cook? They have that handled too! Then!!! The amazing baked goodies from "Sparkles" bakery. (Hope I got it right!) My most cherished boutique market in Bend. Everything is super fresh and of the highest quality. The meat and seafood selection is divine and the wine selection is incredible. It's truly a one stop shop with a liquor store now embedded. Albeit an absolute delight to shop here, the only downfall is filling one grocery bag requires a second mortgage on your home. It's such a treat and so enjoyable, though! The market we go to for all of our special occasion shopping needs. This place just makes me happy! read more

Full service grocery store with a convenient location in the Westside of Bend. The good: many tasty to go food items in their deli cases. (sushi made on site). Fresh meat counter with a variety of cuts. It is a bit pricey. I did have 1 meat purchase that was not good, but for the most part, they have their act together for meat and seafood. a HUGE selection of local beer & a spirit shop inside the store. They carry a lot of higher end items as well, such items not found in the chain grocery stores. Down: most of the prices are much higher than other grocery stores. The pricing is comparable to Market of Choice. Pricing is why I only gave Newport market 4 stars. I wouldn't do my weekly shopping there but I do purchase many items out of convenience or selection. And except for right after the local high school let out for the day, it was never very crowded. Maybe that was also because we chose the timing to avoid crowds because having lived in and visited Bend for so many years, we knew when those crowded times were more likely to be. $: Prices are premium here and so know that going in. Newport Avenue Market, the independent and employee owned full service grocer just a few blocks from this one is our favorite of all grocery markets of anyplace we've lived and West Coast Provisions doesn't compete with that. But it is lovely little shop for what it is. TIP - SATURDAY FARMER'S MARKET: The NW Crossing Farmer's Market (a good one) is on Saturday mornings in Market Season and on this same street. PARKING: On street parallel parking and street parking can be hard to come by with Sparrow Bakery directly across the street and a popular burger joint next door. There is also a small lot behind the building. ACCESSIBILTY: Level in from sidewalk, all on one floor, ample clear floor space in aisles and at register. Newport Market is, without a doubt, the best market in Bend. Continuously stocked fresh with all sorts of locally sourced deliciousness, they have the largest selection of quality items I've ever seen. Now the market is employee owned which I love to see. Everyone there is courteous and helpful whenever I'm there. I'm giving it four stars for two reasons: 1) It's certainly the most expensive market in Bend. I understand we're obviously paying for quality at Newport, but some of the pricing is ridiculous. 2) The deli could use a bit of an expansion. They have some great meats there now, but not a massive variety that most people like to see when they walk up to the deli counter. Besides these two minor drawbacks, it's awesome. read more

This market gives so much back to the community. Right now, they have cookbooks that 100% of the sales go to the Hunger Prevention Coalition to feed local hungry people. The cookbooks have recipes from local chefs that have appeared on Bend Broadband's Cooking Central Oregon Style. So, if you're a Bendite and have a favorite dish from your favorite restaurant that you want to make at home, the recipe might be in there. The cookbooks were compiled by Donna Britt (the host of the show), designed by Every Idea, printed by Ryder Graphics, and available exclusively at Newport Ave Market. First impression of this store. They carry more products then they have room for. Some isles I could hardly even walk through even more especially if another person was in the same space. Prices here are ridiculous. Of course I wish to support local but I can get half of what they sell anywhere else a lot cheaper. Cleanliness of the store isn't great. Some products they sold didn't provide an ingredient tag. It's concerning. What was most appalling was how the service was. They obviously don't go through much in their hiring process. read more

A great little neighborhood market. I love patronizing independent local businesses and it's wonderful when this desire coincides with a business that I actually want to shop at. Newport Market delivers. Quaint, fun, clean, friendly, and stuffed to the rafters with all sorts of goodies that appeal to gourmet shoppers. Every section of the market had something I noticed, and I wish I could shop at a place like this more often. As it was, I came here almost daily during my trip to Bend. holy cow, this place has Everything! while it IS pretty tight in there, they certainly have an amazing selection. from beers on tap, to incredible cheeses, the deli, the bakery, the wine section....these guys have it all. a good international section was a pleasant surprise. and, it's pretty entertaining just looking at how much they pack into the space. did i say LOTS of choices? don't forget your Gold Card because this isn't Food 4 Less but it's still amazing. read more

CONNECTION: My husband and I lived it Bend for almost 20 years but moved away a couple of years before this delightful little store, near our Bend neighborhood, opened in roughly the latter part of 2018. But we were still in Bend multiple times a year to see my parents who lived nearby and visited regularly up through the passing of the last of them in 2024 and even through this year to take care of things at their home. We will soon make our last ever trip to Bend, our first was in 1982 so we are grieving the end of things, and one of the things we will miss is stopping in at West Coast Provisions for purchases for my mom's kitchen or for our own, or treats to share or gifts or gift cards for friends and family. Every time we were in we found something to purchase. SERVICE: People working here were always congenial, if not warm, and questions were always answered. And except for right after the local high school let out for the day, it was never very crowded. Maybe that was also because we chose the timing to avoid crowds because having lived in and visited Bend for so many years, we knew when those crowded times were more likely to be. $: Prices are premium here and so know that going in. You are paying for convenience and uniqueness. Newport Avenue Market, the independent and employee owned full service grocer just a few blocks from this one is our favorite of all grocery markets of anyplace we've lived and West Coast Provisions doesn't compete with that. But it is lovely little shop for what it is. TIP - SATURDAY FARMER'S MARKET: The NW Crossing Farmer's Market (a good one) is on Saturday mornings in Market Season and on this same street. PARKING: On street parallel parking and street parking can be hard to come by with Sparrow Bakery directly across the street and a popular burger joint next door. There is also a small lot behind the building. ACCESSIBILTY: Level in from sidewalk, all on one floor, ample clear floor space in aisles and at register. ADA marked parking behind the building, I think. COFFEE AND GOODIES: If you're hankering for a Sparrow ocean roll and the line is too long, this market sometimes has ocean rolls in the store along with goodies from other local bakeries. And it's expensive. I'd say about half the store comprises 'regular' goods - canned soups, boxed pasta, sundries, etc., with the rest being interesting instant ramen/pho, spices, teas, candies and other not-so-regular stuff. Much of which you can find far cheaper across the street at Safeway, or at least something close to it. Not everything, of course, but if the local hotel/apartment denizens need a emergency package/can of whatever, not sure why they'd not go to Safeway. Also, and I'm sure this is just a startup issue, but a lot of the goods were unpriced, either on the items or on the shelf labels. Beer, some wine, no produce, a few dairy items, a frozen treat case. Newport Market this ain't. One feature, I'm told, is that they can order anything internationally. In these days of Amazon, I'm not sure how big a draw that might constitute. But maybe. Parking at the Westside Village shopping center is already a bit of a zoo and from what I can see, many of the commercial spaces are not yet tenanted. Those folks looking to go to Banger & Brews might soon be miffed at the difficult parking. A-OK. It's different than the norm here in Bend and that's a good thing.
