I used this company for 7 years always ready to take me any place I had to go. Never had any problem at all

The rides show up late most of the time. Dispatch has the cars packed with as many people as they can like sardines. Dispatch has the drivers running around in circles, trying to get them to pick up everyone at once even if the car is already full. Late to appointments. Not good service at all. One time I called newport and they said the car will arrive in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later there was no car so I called again. Dispatch said that a car to pick me up had not even been located yet. The car finally came after an hour of waiting in the cold. This is just one story. I do not recommend. Also, most of the drivers I've dealt with are ok. It's not so much the drivers (some of them are rude and are no good) the real problem is dispatch and the car company. They make the drivers pick up as many people as they can and run around in circles and make people late like I said above. Most of the drivers are ok I am not placing the blame on them, the problem is the company. read more

I use Access-A-Ride and Medical Transportation with Newport Car Service. My ride is late every time and on one occasion the dispatcher totally lied to me. I called three times inquiring about the same ride. On the first occasion, she told me my ride was 5 minutes away. I waited 10 minutes and called again, she told me my ride was coming up the street. I waited 5 more minutes and she told me my ride was outside. I waited another 5 minutes and called Access-A-Ride. The operator informed me that my ride was across town picking someone else up and it would take 25 minutes to get to me. In total, I waited forty-five minutes for a ride that never showed up. I had to call a taxi and pay $45 to get to my location. Totally unacceptable and unreliable. Unfortunately, I live in Staten Island where Newport is the only broker. Avoid Newport Car Service at all costs. read more

I've lived in staten island for 18 years but this is the very first time I've had a problem with new port and one of there drivers bay street was partially blocked off due to a festival but not fully my driver took it apon himself to say the road is blocked he can't get to the staten island ferry mind you there are 3 other ways to get there than using bay street he then goes up a one way street the wrong way then yells at me he's taken me home then says I'm taken you to the Newport depot while running a red light I was in full panic mode this cab service has gone down hill over the years that's why lyft and uber are taken over id rather have a professional driver and pay more than ever use there service agin read more

Horrible service!! I had used them for my medical rides, and each and every experience with them was an absolute NIGHTMARE! They show up extremely late, causing me to miss my appointments. They ALWAYS pick up and drop off other passengers on my ride. Their cars are filthy and broken down. The drivers are reckless by driving like maniacs and not paying attention to the road because they are either on the phone or eating while driving. If you value your safety, do not use this service. I have arranged to use a different service with my insurance company after many complaints about this service, putting my life at risk. This driver made the decision to make a left turn from the right side of my car as I was making a left. Thankfully I was able to avoid him. My wife is immune compromised and requires no rideshare and they have it in system no rideshare but yet continue to send cars with people in small ass car .she always has to reschedule important medical appointments and get charged fees from offices . I used this company for medical rides and for other rides. When I first started using them they were pretty good.. unless you try and get a cab between 5-7:00 at night.. they for some reason can not get their shit together during those hours and more often than not, I have had to cancel the ride. As time has gone on, the service has gotten worse and worse. This morning I was waiting for a car that I ordered over two weeks ago for a Dr Appt. They called last night to confirm my ride and still showed up almost an hour late. This is not acceptable to me and I will be booking any further medical rides with a different company. read more

Against my better judgment (given the reviews), I made an online reservation on March 12th for a March 20th pickup and received a booking ID. On March 12th, I followed up with an email to confirm reservation. A woman responded, quoted the price and told me that someone would call to confirm the day before. To be proactive, I called on March 19 to confirm and there was no record of my reservation. The woman took all of my information down and reiterated the price. It was agreed that a driver would be at my house at 5:30 AM to take me to Metropark, NJ for a 6:22 AM train to Washington, D.C. Well, at 4:30 AM (one hour before the scheduled pickup), a dispatcher told me that he did not have a car available to make the trip and alluded that the price quoted was low. He never asked if i was paying in cash & would not let me pay with a credit card (which is what I preferred); It was a very uncomfortable situation. A cab driver yesterday purposely punched my driver window and drove against the side of my car causing damages and scaring my two year old who was back there and he drove off. I hope you get what you deserve from above and that your family experiences something like that. It was an African driver in one of the newer blue cars. Craters on his face, glasses, accent, what seemed to be a gold or silver tooth (or tooth decay). If you are illegally working here, I hope someone finds out. I was impressed when I called b/c the 'hold time' wasn't too long, nor was I given a long estimated wait time AND they offered to give me a courtesy call when my cab was outside. Courtesy call is received and I go downstairs (from my office building) and find a car parked out front without the driver. I call to inquire and they said that's not my car that mine was there and thought I was a 'no show' and left. I was downstairs within 2-3 minutes when I received their courtesy (automated) courtesy call. The receptionist was confused and little help and the manager she spoke told her that he would tell the driver to come back for me...there was confusion as the address he was give, etc. PLUS this was a $28 dollar call, not a local call, more courtesy could have been shown. I was told to stay outside and wait...No, I don't think so...I told them to forget it and took the bus for a hell of a lot cheaper. read more

Ladies- DO NOT TAKE THIS CAB COMPANY. I thought I was going to get raped in the cab ride home and I'm going to write a police report tomorrow. I was headed back to my parents house after a long night working an event in the city and was picked up by Mike from Newport Cab at around 3AM on the North Shore. I get in the cab and he says about 3 times how pretty he thinks I am. I small talk for a minute about Uber to not feel so uncomfortable. He never heard of it and when I told him it gives the rider the cab drivers information he laughed. Then he asks me "Can I ask you something - might sound weird but are you wearing pants?" COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE. I said yes - and he says "Oh because you look tired- you should take off your shoes get comfortable- feel free to close your eyes and take a nap." I replied- "I'm totally fine and completely sober by the way" by the way AKA don't try anything you perverted piece of work. He says "well why don't we go to the deli and get you a beer then?" I said no not necessary just get me home. Thanks. Now I am completely livid and silent. When we get to my house, he tells my the costs, GETS OUT OF THE CAB & goes to shake my hand. So I haven't tried in a long time and I decided to give them another chance. I calI hear the phone answered but hung up right after. Nothing was said. So I tried again and it just continued to ring.
