Mid Island VIP Car Service offers a Lincoln Town Car from home to Penn station. The car arrived on time and our chauffeur was courteous and helpful. I was unable to carry our bigger luggage because of a recent rib injury but our driver readily got them from our home to the car then from the car to the station curb. The Lincoln Town Car was the older sleek style with that superb suspension that makes that car smooth; great for me as my injuries make any jolts painful. The car was very clean and quiet and had fully functional seat belts; not always found in some car services and not to be taken for granted. When we took a cruise earlier this year, we drove our car to Bayonne Harbor. The cost of parking for a week was not a real bargain vs the round trip limo. Lesson learned. At our relative ages, it's not so unwise to spend a few extra dollars and have less to worry over. Mid Island Car Service will be there waiting for us on our return home. read more

My family has used Mid Island Car Service many times and never had an issue. This time, however, my sister called to arrange a car and the woman who answered the phone was rude, abrupt and nasty. My sister may sound young but she is not and even if she was, is that any reason to treat a potential customer like crap? She didn't even ask her name, or the time or even where to pick her up. My mother then called and the same woman argued with her about being rude to my sister. You need to hire better people to answer your phones. I am disgusted, disappointed and will never use this car service again. We found a better one with kind people answering the phone. I now use Dial 7 and Uber for all my rides. Why even bother with Mid Island if you can avoid it. read more

DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING HERE!! The most disgraceful service and we were left behind. We called them to transfer us from Staten Island to JFK airport hotels area. Called once and rude fella on the phone (left no name and no booking confirmation). Then we called again 20 minutes after to see about the confirmation, and said "yes sure we will send it". Then didn't arrive again, and when I called last: "I cannot do anything more for you. I have you here and I assure you will be picked up". Reservation confirmation was requested and again did not arrive. Today, after more than 6 hours drive, called again and reservation was not made. Then the lady said "no problem, even though we don't have you here we will send you one car at 6". At 18h20 with no calls and no service we left. And they had the f****n balls to call at 18h45 to say (we are here and none is around). Waste of time and lots of hassle. Thanks for nothing. read more

I have used them to go to the airport many times this summer .. I had no problems with pick ups or with any of the drivers they even showed up at the airport on a pre-booked pick up .. I'm sure not every car service is perfect things happen but I recommend them read more

I'm not one to write reviews at all...but I feel like I need to for the sake of, if anything, urging Mid-Island Car Service to get their act together. The last few times my friend and I have called for a car to pick us up have been horrendous! We called for a car to pick us up at the Mall at 8:00pm on a Thursday night...and were told that it would be "about an hour wait"...on a Thursday night at a decent time. After an hour and a half, the car finally came, and the driver was using profanity the entire time. Professionalism and comfort-level go a long way with a company that provides a service to customers. Last night (Friday) we called at 10:30 for a car. We were at Miller's Ale House. The dispatcher asked my friend where that was. She told the dispatcher that it was across from the Target on Richmond Avenue, and then repeated the name of the restaurant to her. The dispatcher told her that the wait time would be 25 minutes. After a full hour of waiting, my friend called them back to find out what was going on. It turned out that the dispatcher sent the car to the Target in Tottenville! So, then we had to wait for the car to get from Tottenville to the restaurant. Did not get home until 12:15am or so. I am actually seriously thinking about looking into using a new car-service company. I had never had a problem with them before these last few times. It is a car-service company that I have always trusted to get me places quickly and safely, without feeling uncomfortable. I don't understand why the wait is so long all of a sudden (I feel like the wait time should be 30 minutes, tops), why the drivers are more and more unprofessional, and why dispatchers send cars to the wrong places when they can get an address of a place just by having the customer say the name of it (example: a school, restaurant, bar) Get it together, Mid-Island! read more

This morning we used this car service to take us to Newark Airport. My wife called on Sunday to reserve a call. I'm happy to say, the driver was totally professional, helpful, and curteous. He was on-time down to the minute and he loaded our suitcase into the trunk, then took us quickly and safely to Newark Airport. The cost was very reasonable in comparison to some other car services in the same locality. We will gladly use them again in the future. read more

I was just harassed by the phone operator because I'm in a car without a credit card machine and I asked for a receipt. He screamed and threatened me for not requesting a car with a credit card machine. His lack of professionalism and vulgarity was disturbing and I would highly recommend using Uber or a different car service within Staten Island. read more

Worst cab service ever !!!! My husband called and told them we needed a cab for 715 pm the women on the phone said no problem. At 615 pm the cab called and said they were outside my husband said it was too early and we needed it for 715 pm . The cab driver said no problem and will come back . Well at 715 pm there was no cab so we called and a rube disrespectful men yelled at my husband and said he sent a cab earlier and we weren't ready and it's not his problem!!! If you want to over pay or you want to get charged for your packages or you want to deal with rude service then Mid Island Car Service is for you. I want a polite dispatcher. I want a realistic quote. I want fast service. I don't want the additional charge for the use of the trunk. I called Mid Island Car to pick me up from the Bricktown Mall (Target, Home Depot) traveling home to Great Neck. I was asked, How many people and any packages? When I told the dispatcher that I had packages, he told me that he could not give me a quote until the driver told him how many packages I had. I waited for 40 minutes after being told that there was a 15 minute wait. Finally after 50 minutes I left. I called to tell the dispatcher that I was leaving because of the long wait. On a previous call the driver took me on a high speed chase on Hylan Blvd because the other 2 passengers wanted an express bus into the city. I told him to pull over and let me out. It is safer, faster and better to walk in rush hour traffic than to call Mid Island Car for bad service. read more

We had THE most unpleasant ride with Sal who literally word vomitted all over us for 20 minutes about his entire life (we sat there silently and he just continued talking at us), talked about owning 60 fire arms, and finally said some extraordinarily racist, derogatory, and offensive comments that made my skin crawl. DO NOT USE THIS CAR SERVICE!!!! They showed up 45 minutes late to take me to JFK even though I called and reserved a car. When you call the number you have to stay on hold for a long time before someone even answers. He told me 6-8 minutes and the guy got here 30 minutes later. Worst car service to use especially if you're going to the airport. When I called to ask if they would discount my fare he said he can't do anything that I have to call the head dispatcher after 7pm. I swore I wouldn't use them again but decided to give them another chance. I made a reservation 3 hours in advance for an airport run. The driver shows up 15 mins late! Really. I have to catch a flight and you show up late? I used to use them for airport pickups but they wouldn't actually send a car until you got your luggage. You would wait 45 mins and I had already paid in advance. NEVER AGAIN. I'll be using Uber. It's cheaper and more reliable. You're gonna put yourself out of business with crappy service. read more

Me and a couple of my girlfriends called for a cab Friday night to get home after a party. While one of my friends were talking to a dispatcher the rest of us were talking to each other. The dispatcher hang up on us in the middle of the order. When we called back thinking we were disconnected the guy said " no we didn't get disconnected, I hung up on you because there were people laughing and talking in the background and we don't have time for that." when she said that she was the one talking to him and not laughing he goes " yeah you are right you are fine but the other people are laughing and we don't have want to deal with the behavior like this." what a jerk! never ever i will ever call them. i work at a supermarket. i work during the weekday the closing shift. so at 11:00pm, i have been scheduling a mid island car to pick me up. i would make the reservation no later than 6:15pm on those days. i was doing this 2 or 3 times a week for the past 6 weeks. i find it easier to count the days that the driver was on time. so, lets say i scheduled for 11:00pm 14 times in the past 6 weeks. they've been on time or early twice. a total of 2 times out of 14. they left me waiting 10 minutes or less 3 times. 5/14 times they were in an acceptable time frame. the other 9 (yes, NINE) times, ive been picked up anywhere from 11:35pm-11:50pm. the conditions of the parking lot make it realistic for me to fear my physical safety, with the sort of people who gather at night there (fist fights have occurred, and shouting some other nights). and with it getting cold out, my money is not worth risking my safety in terms of aggressive loiterers or the weather conditions. this is without mentioning the attitudes of the dispatchers. the drivers are nice and calm, even enjoyable to converse with most of the time. i even made sure to tip my driver again tonight just because he handled my rage well (i was puffing about my panic attack that the unreliability caused and he just took me home without comment). the night shift dispatcher, i assume he comes in around 7, is okay. always a little touchy, but not without reason and not hostile. the other dispatcher i have talked to is extremely nasty. she always answers with a horrid tone in her voice, and today she wasnt even going to schedule me. she has scheduled me in the past (she answers every time i make the reservation) and the night dispatcher always answered when i checked on the car. but today she said "well obviously you need to call later". verbatim. so i hung up, and had to get permission from my supervisor to call again before my shift was over. i do not feel safe relying on this service. i have decided from now on i have less to worry about if i take the train home, and that includes a half hour walk from the train to my house. i am not an intimidating woman. read more
