The beers were so many we couldn't try them all. They had wrestling! It was so much fun. The rock cover band played some awesome 90s alternative which is my sweet spot (thank gods no country!) Now that the formality is over.... Although, Yelp was a sponsor this year, this was the first year that I attended (without working onsite) and boy did this broad have a mighty fine time! Don't just take my word for it though... there is a reason why this event has sold out in just minutes since year one. Seriously. I do believe that the tickets sold out in 2-4 minutes this year. Some people complain about this but I think it's a positive thing that they limit the tickets to ensure that they have the bandwidth to support a "great experience" for their attendees. You'd also be complaining if they grew too quickly and ran out of beer, food, or space too, so just let them do their thang because they do it well. From the carefully curated list of craft beer tastings onsite and the Music City Roots stage to the Whole Foods VIP area and food trucks, this is an event that is loved by the community. Tickets are $40 and you get as many beer tasting as you'd like from great breweries from our hometown and beyond. Some of my faves are : Schlafly (I'm a St.Louie girl) French Broad Yazoo Flat 12 Jackalope Lagunitas Calfkiller (name is horrid but beer is delish) Brooklyn Brewery Lazy Magnolia but there were many more onsite. You can also get your learn-on with the Craft Beer Education series they have during the event. We arrived an hour into the festival and had no issued finding parking across the street ($10). It was a very fun event and totally worth the horrific hangover the next day. See you at the next one or at one of the organizer's (Rhizome Productions) other festivals/events that include: Nashville Craft Beer Week Brew at the Zoo 12 South Winter Warmer Nashville Whiskey Festival Yelp365#43

Mr "Crafty" filed it in such a carefully timed manner that I had about 24 hours to pull together a retainer or face having custody of my daughters stripped from me at Christmas. Since Rachel represented me with success in the divorce she contacted me immediately, otherwise I might not have known about the filing until it was too late. There have been incidents since that time, including some suspiciously neglectful behavior surrounding my daughters birthday, but I feel confident I am in safe hands and will continue to prevail. Thank you Rachel!

Since that time, I now believe that her choices were unethical. I sincerely believe that she assumed that I fully understood the law and the legal process, which I most certainly do not. I do not regret my choice of leaving Miller Upshaw Family Law, PLLC because of Ms. Karla Miller's behavior, as my new counsel is proactively making strides that Ms. Miller never offered. What I experienced from Ms. Miller were promises of "zealous representation" followed by my confusion about what Ms. Miller's plan was for my case. This was despite my multiple requests for her to explain her plan. As a senior partner of her firm, Ms. Karla Miller normally charges over $300 per hour for her time. I read numerous positive reviews from her past clients. With these facts in mind, I sincerely believed that I would experience, 1) a high degree of professionalism, and, 2) exemplary expertise. I experienced neither. I was forced to question Ms. Miller's ethics when she stated that she did not have to return my retainer. I did not know what I was being charged by this firm for five months. Despite my requests for a statement, Ms. Miller's company sent me only one invoice on February 6th, 2018 during the six-month period that I retained the firm. Ms. Miller sent a second invoice on June 29th, 2018, which is a month after my new counsel informed the firm of my new representation. I waited yet another month to actually receive my unused retainer on July 21st, 2018. Before I left her firm, I was quite confused about any next steps in my case. I asked Karla Miller to meet with me on May 9th, 2018 to clarify her legal position and plan. I was unclear on her legal position and what her plan was in regards to the "zealous representation" that she had promised me. Via email, Karla refused to meet with me to explain her plan stated that we did not have disconnect. In hindsight, why must I ask for my lawyers plan and even offer to pay her additional retainer fees just to meet with her to discover what my next legal steps should be? I am disgusted. I will include Ms. Miller's disparaging email at the end of this review. In this email correspondence, Ms. Miller offered seek new counsel and leave her firm by stating, "You are free to retain other counsel if you are not happy with our representation." I was obviously not happy with her unprofessional behavior, so, I did seek other representation. Ms. Miller told me to seek new counsel knowing full well that she could legally keep my unused retainer, which is thousands of dollars. In my opinion, her approach in this matter is unethical behavior. I did not receive my unused retainer back for months. I had to file a claim with the Nashville Bar to receive my unused retainer. With the potential financial impact of my upcoming divorce, this additional aggravation from Ms. Miller is the last thing that I needed. Ms. Miller's personally degrading, highly charged, and falsely accusatory email convinced me to discontinue Miller Upshaw Family Law, PLLC on May 17th, 2018 as my legal counsel. Thank you for your time taken to read this. My final decision to leave Ms. Miller's firm was made because of the unprofessional email below sent on Wednesday, May 9th, 2018. On Wed, May 9, 2018 at 10:27 PM, Karla Miller karla@nashvillefamilylaw.com wrote: Hi Michael, I promise you we do not have a disconnect that needs to be "cleared up". Your case is not complicated. However, it would help if you would resist the impulse to micro-manage our representation of you. And I am sure you don't think that is what you are doing, but it is. For example, the question at the end of your email to which you refer below as "unanswered" is something I intentionally did not answer and chose to consider as "rhetorical" which requires no response, because, otherwise, if it was not meant as "rhetorical", then you should know that it is actually an insulting question, which I will repeat here, with highlights since you seem to like them: No more dog muzzling and zealous representation, as you state below, at this time, please? REALLY? Michael, please don't insult your lawyers again. It is not the most motivational of strategies you could employ to get what you want. You are free to retain other counsel if you are not happy with our representation. And, no, we do not need a meeting to discuss this. Its not that hard. **PLEASE REPLY "ALL" Karla C. However, from a purely objective standpoint (because I felt this way even before they hired me), I can say that The Scene is the best publication in Nashville when it comes to arts and entertainment. First of all, The Scene can be found for free at countless locations throughout the city. It features album, book and film reviews as well as hard news pieces on the goings-on in and around Nashville. They also print some pretty popular features, such as the "Best of Nashville" list, and their website is extensive with archives of all the articles they publish. The Scene is a Village Voice publication, and those people know how to run a paper. With all the staffers and contributors The Scene employs, it's pretty easy to see that if something interesting goes down in Nashville, one of our guys will cover it. There are always listings of upcoming shows and events as well as reviews of things you may have missed. Besides, it's free! It certainly doesn't look like a hastily thrown-together publication, however.

I work at one of only 5 fully plant based restaurants in Nashville but somehow we are left out of any articles like "where to find best vegetarian meals" but they'll instead mention a meat-centric restaurant with a few vegetable dishes, like wtf? Is it because we turn them down when we get sales calls from them? Because we don't want to buy advertising in their cheap rag? I agree with Simply S. that the staff at Scene only write about the things they're interested instead of covering the wide variety of happenings in Nashville. It's poor representation and they should hold themselves to a higher standard.
