If you go to shows for cushy chairs, snacks at intermission, and fancy props and costumes, this isn't the place for you. But if you like theater because you enjoy the experience of watching a story play out around you, you just might find a show that's to your liking. The experience is very bare-bones - folding chairs, cinderblock walls, and nothing in the way of scenery other than a raised platform painted black. It's a very intimate venue - there are chairs for about 50 people, the girl selling tickets will pop out at intermission to tell you it's time for a break. One of the people we saw on Saturday night had brought his own cushion for the chairs - BRILLIANT. You should do that. I really enjoyed their rendition of Romeo and Juliet. The Montagues and Capulets wear argyle and plaid, respectively (BRILLIANT!) which makes it very easy to follow who is angry at whom. Mercutio's performance was the best I have ever seen, on stage or on screen, hands-down. This is a particularly great show for those of you who vaguely remember reading this in junior high or who avoided it at all costs because Shakespeare is obnoxiously incomprehensible - even though they haven't modernized a single word of the script, you'll understand what's going on - and you'll even get the Nurse's saucy jokes through the veil of Shakespeare's English. Tickets are incredibly reasonably priced at $10. Keep an eye on their Twitter feed for deals - I scored 2 free tickets for retweeting the information about their opening weekend.

Easy and plentiful parking. Tiny concession stand area, and great stage and seating area. Very tight though! I would not want to be in any row except the front row as no space on the sides, only one single narrow middle row, so you are literally trapped like in an airplane trying to deplane. I'm not claustrophobic by any means, but this was a little tight for me. Aside from that -- fantastic venue! Can't wait for another show!

They've worked together long and thus have a chemistry that makes the comedic twists and turns work well - quickly building from funny to hilarious. I was pleased that during the second show I attended they broke into improvised songs in a few sketches. Talent! Music City Improv currently entertains at The Building, which is a small venue tucked in an alley behind Batter'd & Fried in East Nashville. The size is intimate enough that every audience member can participate and yet the energy is still high once the cast and crowd quickly warm up. There's a bar with snacks or you can BYOB to most (all?) shows. Show schedules are on their website, and most of their improv shows occur on the third Friday of the month at the time of writing.

Nikki and the Cosmic Collective came all the way down to Santa Rosa Beach, FL to play for our wedding and did a FANTASTIC job! We loved them so much we didn't want them to leave. They were kind and overly helpful from beginning to end. They would send us their set list and if we didn't like a few songs, they kindly replaced them and accommodated our every want and need to make our wedding day one of a kind! My husband and I were both thrilled with the way they played our first dance song, which they practiced in advance just for our wedding day! I do like to volunteer my time to help at community events and I am glad I chose the National Folk…read moreMusic Festival this year. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I thought there would be Americana-type music sprinkled in with other musical influences that we have been seeing here in the US. The volunteer process was very simple. I got online and went to the Folk Festival website and signed up a few days before the weekend. I signed up to be a music logger with the understanding that I could be assigned wherever help was needed and I was OK with this. I ended up on the "Bucket Brigade" asking for donations to help keep the Folk Festival free for all Nashvillians and visitors. I was assigned to the Jefferson St Dance Pavilion where I enjoyed the New Orleans jazz stylings of Don Vappie and the Creole Jazz, blues/gospel music from The Holmes Brothers, and East African rumba tunes by the Samba Mapangala & Orchestra Virunga. I was under a huge tent which was sweet as the rain was actually pretty heavy for a while. It was a great day for music and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Festival. It was relaxing, the festival attendees were generous, and I left at the end of the day glad that I live at near one of the cultural epicenters of our country.

Their first excursion to the South--not counting TX). I knew I had to go but the tickets were sold out, there were clear instructions on the website about getting there earlier for standby, and it worked! Everyone was pleasant and things went smoothly, it's on the edge of town but this is nothing compared to my Chicago hometown where it takes twice as long just to go 4 miles away. They have a fun swervy ectoplasmic bar serving drinks in the back and art exhibits lining the halls. The performance space was in a big warehouse with bleachers, comfortable seats, not the best sightline but good enough. Finally the performance was INCREDIBLE, that's a whole separate review, but it far exceeded what I had heard about it. To known that this place can draw the likes of Wooster is testament to their importance to the American Arts scene.

He was exemplary from start to finish, funny and laid back and super accommodating, not to mention incredibly skilled at his craft! I highly recommend him for any job where you need sound expertise.
