Studying in København can be easy because there are so many locations, but this library is perfect if you need´to utilize multiple resources. You can search for your class's textbook and get it transferred to this library, to checking out a laptop for four hours. On the first floor of the library, you have 3 main rooms after passing the front desk, locker rooms, and restroom. In te middle main room, you have the option of sititng in square tables or sitting on nicely cushioned sofas directly up the stairs. You can also study on the main floor in the main room and using the smaller sofa chairs to lounge while you read or use the round table to set your belongings down. Following to the roóm to the right, you have the option of accessing one of the desktop computers if theyre available for usage. It can get packed very quickly so people may be using these before, so strategize your timings or just check out one of their laptops. You also have several tables to sit down and be away from the desktops section. In the room the left, it is a magazine room where they ahve a large selection of different magazines you can read from many major brand magazines. In addition, they have an especially quiet room that you can enter through this glass door. I have not entered there yet but people seem to only read in their. On the basement, you can access their large library of dvds and music cds and ´have the option of also checking them out. You can also study on the study floor where there are several connections ports to charge your phones, laptops, and other devices. In addition, during a certain time of the day a staff member may approach you to assit you on your homework if you need the help. The staff is very helpful and nice here, so use them because they are happy to help. (: If I had to complain about anything of here, then that it owuld be hard to find a connection. Visit the place to study. Its especially convenient if you go to CBS, because its right next to the main campus.

The library was founded by King Frederick III in 1848 who contributed his collection of European works at its founding. The library however was not open to the public until 1793. Today, it is open to anyone aged 18 years or older with a genuine need for its use. Referred to as the Royal Library, it is a compilation of the National Library of Denmark, the University of Denmark Library with contributions from several other libraries. Among its collections are all the printed works in Danish since the 17th century which includes works dating back to 1492. Other notable entries in the archives include an original Guttenberg Bible, Soren Kiergaard"s works and Hans Christian Anderson's manuscripts and correspondences. The older part of the Det Kongeglige Bibliotek which can be seen today was built in 1906. The central hall's architectural features were copied from Charlemagne's Palace Chapel in the Aachean Cathedral. The more modern space is called the Black Diamond because of its' glass and marble construction materials. The Black Diamond has transverse corridors, a large atrium and is 8 stories high.

This 'small' library has changed several times over the years. It used to have the children, teen and young adult section down stairs and the adult one on the first floor. Recently, they have switched it around. I like what they did to the children's section. Making cosy area's for youngsters to relax, surf the net and do their homework. The librarians there are beyond nice. The adult section is awesome. You feel like you are discovering a new world when you enter it. To sum it all up: Great librarians (service). Updated/up to date technology. Average/low noise level.

Guys like me are born every minute. That said, this Shine Bright Like A Black Diamond building is a modern sharp angled marvel and the second floor work-reading area is as quiet as an airtight unhaunted tomb! And shout out to the true Danish snack and beverage clerk who charged me for three espresso drinks but the. I wandered off with just one, grumbling silently to myself about an $18 coffee. She then left the counter moments later and walked 50 yards over to seated me and asked me in that blessed Danish tongue whether I wanted the other two coffees she made or did I just want the credit! thank God, maybe for the first time since my arrival two days ago, Dane responded to my Danish speaking Danish! Ah most look at me and figure I look like an American so they ignore me when I speak Danish and they just speak English. Kind and sweetly concerned, she made my day's wage slavery working on a Sunday all that much more bearable! What a modern marvel the structure is too!!

Having frequented quite many of Copenhagens many different libraries, I must say that this is one…read moreof the ok+ ones. The building is airy and usually not too crowded and has some decent spots for studying with interesting views of the library hall and reception. It's also fairly clean. But it's probably too crowded and noisy if you need to concentrate on something (which is usually why I would visit a library, I guess). The noise might have something to do with the "shared" location with Democratic Coffee Bar (which has awesome coffee btw). Might also have something to do with the fact that Borgerservice is also located here. Apparently, Hovedbiblioteket is the place to be! These days they seem to be working on the interiors a little, so be prepared for drilling sounds! Nothing decent ear plugs can't take care of for you, though.. A quick look at the literature collection, tells me that almost nothing is in it's right place. Communication books are under religion and so on. But the fiction, music and children's sections seem to be in order. Hovedbiblioteket also seems like a nice spot for taking the toddlers and smaller kids, seeing as a fair part of the third floor seems to be specialized for children. Oh, and the escalators and toilets are often out of order. The first thing, not so much of a problem. The second thing can be a problem.

The periode where we turned from a peasant society ruled by a dictatorially king to a democratic socialist wellfare state. I have been here for a guided tour. We heard a bit of history of the building, the living conditions for a normal working class family during the Industrialization, Christmas in the years after WW2, and much more. Our guide were a fountain of knowledge, and he were able tell the history in a very empathetic way. We didn't have time to see all the exhibitions, so I definitely have to go back to this museum on my own. I'm also planning to make a excursion with my colleagues from work. A guided tour is only 1500 DKR. Members of traditionally socialist trade unions hare free admission.

It requires a healthcard to get in but it's very easy and due to this you can access the library very late at night or early morning.
