Our kids have been coming to this camp for a few years now and they love it. It is a…read morenon-denominational Christian camp that runs all summer long. They have many fun activities for the kids to do and a pool that the kids really enjoy. Every week has a different theme and the crafts and games are centered on that theme. They have Wacky Wednesday where the the kids dress up in accordance with the theme of the week. Other activities include drama, archery, drama and character building. As I said before, this is a Christian camp and there is some learning of scripture, but they accept all faiths. The counselors are wonderful. There is also an over day option on Thursdays that for a little extra money the kids make s'mores by the campfire, do skits and have extra swim time. Over day ends at 8 pm. The camp also posts pictures and videos daily on Facebook so you can see what the kids have been up to all day. I highly recommend this camp. Our children are happy and safe. It's a wonderful way to pass a summer!

My kids loved the art and music program. They came to Hillside School not able to read. They returned to public school with top grades and studying skills. They are all going to attend college. Hillside encourages experience, learning, and getting better at sports. Although Hilllside is a…read moresmall community, it opens up to people to allow them to prosper. Hillside looses a credit rating because of the way that food is made. The food comes from Sysco, the company that makes window washer, and that's exactly what the food tastes like. On the other hand, Hillside's sports program is just a bit off. The Hillside motto, is that they will teach you anything you want to learn, but that's untrue. I had to sit out, because no one though I was good enough to Junior Varsity basketball. So, I had to sit on a couch for the whole winter, with no sport, doing my homework. It was honestly the most obnoxious lie I've ever heard from a school, loss of two approval stars.

Overall, the structure of the camp is great. However, they frequently make last minute changes, do…read morenot communicate them, and then get frustrated when you are not following these changes. I worked here for 4 summers out of convenience, and it was one of the most hostile environments I have never been in. If you went to Camp Sewataro growing up, great, they will welcome you with open arms and you will fit in. If you did not, you will be isolated, shut out by fellow employees, and not be able to participate in events that the camp runs but chooses strictly campers-turned-employees for. If you are a college graduate, teacher, childcare professional, etc, you will still be getting supervised by an unqualified college kid, just because they grew up at camp. Pay is also terrible. I was making $11 an hour while having a Master's degree in education. There are hundreds of other camps in the area, don't work here.

So I looked into it and it seemed reasonable. 2 instructors, 2 hour 15 min party, pizza, juice, paper products all included. The kids would bounce on two seprate inflatabes and play several games. It sounds great! Pros: the kids had a fun time. Cons: There were 30 kids there and only one instructor showed up. The pizza took forever. The kids were given fruit punch in open cups and juice was flying everywhere. Hello? juice boxes!!!! It was a huge mess. Then to top it off...the kids were given a "goodie" bag with a bunch of promotional flyers in it with an inflatable soccer ball. I was told they would get the beach ball (which is great), but my daughter's party was not a promotional event for their buisness. I found it really tacky. The girl that ran the party was clearly overwhelmed to be in charge of a group of 30 kids and their parents. It was underwhelming to pay $250 for a poorly run party. We will NOT be back anytime soon. : - ( My advice: go to My Gym in Framingham or The Little Gym in Westborough or Pump it Up in Shrewsbury. We went to parties there that were much better.

It's fine that it was for beginners, but I do not appreciate not being told the whole truth. Volleyball was played on indoor grass made for indoor soccer, which by no means makes it suitable for a competitive player. The net was very loose and made it difficult to play on. Worst of all, was teams constantly forfeited so there weren't many games we played. Wish I could have my money back and that it was handled differently.

While we were simply picking up a net to prepare for our time slot--without even entering the room yet--the Pilates instructor shouted at us, claiming she had the room reserved until 12:30 PM. Actually her class was done and she already packed to leave the front door. The room was completely empty. As long-term members, we were not interfering with her class or disobeying any regulations. Being yelled at in public for no reason was humiliating and unprofessional. This level of disrespect is not what I expect from YMCA staff, and it truly ruined our day. I hope management addresses this behavior, as instructors should maintain a basic level of courtesy toward members."

Nevertheless, the staff doesn't seem to understand the meaning of LAP SWIM. They allow people to linger and stand around in the lanes while people wait to swim. I understand accommodations are made for the elderly and special needs people. If you're a serious swimmer, don't join. I would like a staff member to leave a contact number for a discussion.
