As a twin mom who stayed home with my boys for their first year and was their primary caregiver, transitioning to daycare was incredibly hard for me but Next Generation Mira Mesa has truly become my twins' home away from home. I thank my co-worker who told me about this place as her child also goes to this daycare. My boys started attending here at the start of this year (they were just about 15 months) , and like most children, the adjustment period wasn't easy at first. But now, their faces light up every time I tell them we're on our way to daycare. They've grown to love their teachers and have formed the sweetest friendships with their classmates and I pick them up happy, cared for, and thriving. I also really appreciate the consistent updates through the Brightwheel app, which gives me so much peace of mind throughout the day. It's clear they are learning and growing so much and I can genuinely feel how loving, supportive, and passionate the teachers are about what they do. I'll preface that we enrolled our daughter elsewhere. What I'm reviewing is based on our interview and walk through experience. In short - correspondence is very scatterbrained and they don't keep track of inquiries very well. It took me several days and attempts to schedule a walk through to tour the facility, and even when we did show up to the appointment, they had forgotten and were not at all prepared for us to be there. The rooms themselves are extremely sterile as in very little color, it's more like a hospital. White tile floors, white walls, outdated equipment (fridges, etc.). The location is awful, in the same parking lot as a CVS and a liquorland. Security to get inside the facility is very relaxed, not at all what I would have imagined given the location. I will say that they do take allergies very seriously, which is a big plus. I wasn't going to write a review because we don't actually go to this day care. But then months after we went on a tour of the facility, they sent me an email about someone paying, thinking I was part of their billing department. That's right - they thought I was an employee. They sent me the person's name, their kids name and when their payment was supposedly due. That's personally identifying information, and I don't work there so why is my personal email in her distribution list at all? I emailed back saying I have no idea what she's talking about, I've attached her response. So bizarre and not at all professional. So if you're into spending $2k a month because you absolutely have no other choice then, I guess that sucks for you but it's a peanut free zone! read more

Our son has been going here for almost 2 years; he started off in the infant room and is currently in the 2 year old room. He instantly became attached to Ms. Yadira and looked forward to seeing her everyday. As he moved up to the infant walking side, he enjoyed spending time with Ms. Jocelyn and Ms. Carmen. In the 2 year old room, Ms. Angelica and team have really helped reverse some behaviors we were struggling with; our LO no longer throws food on the floor, he helps clean he toys up, he's using sign language and speaking more, and she can magically get him to sit on the potty. I know I'm leaving staff out who have been part of his care taking team - I apologize! There are so many amazing and caring people who work there, everyone knows the names of all the kids. They all say hi and bye to them. Michelle and Sandra are always helpful when we have questions or need assistance. After speaking with the director, I scheduled a tour of the school for 8 am. When I arrived, no one was at the front. After waiting and looking around for someone, I decided to call the school to let them know I was there and waiting for my scheduled tour. They said they would send someone to the front. At 8:15 someone came to the front to ask me what it was I was there for again. I repeated that I was there for my scheduled tour at 8 am. She said someone else would come up in 5 mins. At 8:25 I left the daycare facility not having seen another person. Tours should be when a daycare facility is at there best. If that was there best, I have zero faith in their ability to care for my child. Needless to say, we will not be using this facility and do not recommend you waste your time. read more

I love how the teachers do fun activities and help with potty training for the 2 year old class. The school has a spacious playground for recess. It's super helpful that they provide snacks and lunch. It has been slightly unsettling, the recent number of management and employee changes and losses, however several of young women here have somehow held it all together. Having been there since the beginning or have made enough of an impression on my two year old that he knows them by name, our appreciation goes out to ms. Angalica and Abby for potty training my son in less than a month. I mean What?! Both of our girls attend NexGen and there are some fabulous teachers that we adore! We have been going to this center for almost two years and we really like the hours, open line of communication with everyone and the activities outside of a regular day. Michelle has done a wonderful job on the monthly newsletter which is packed with recipes, activities and learning plans. She is always smiling, and works hard to keep up the enthusiasm. Mary V. is adored by all of the children and has a genuine heart of gold. Mrs. Angalica was born to be a teacher! She has taught our girls manners, to be kind and involves us in their progress. Mrs Deepa is very sweet and is academically in tune with the children. Mrs Noemie is a teacher that my oldest talks about on a daily basis lately. Her language skills, knowledge and social awareness has really improved rapidly in her class. Ms Yadira is always friendly and is very very very sweet to our babies. Mrs Farima greets us even if we are no longer in her class. She and Ms Yadira cared so tenderly for our newborn and are very loving to our entire family. Ms Carmen has been there since we started and she always gives us a big smile and helps answer any of our questions. Ms Sandra is very informative. Mrs Bahn (the chef) is always smiling, provides clean healthy food for the children and even helps out with taking care of the children There has been quite a bit of turnover since we started but I believe in this team and am excited to see what the future holds. Picture day, cooking class or yoga or art, or taco family night and parents night out are just a few of the extras we enjoy! Adding here - Mrs Jocelyn has some incredible patience! My daughter has been going here for 3 years now! Office staff Michelle & Sandra are both amazing and very communicative. Michelle is flexible, patient, and informative. Sandra is polite, fun, helpful, and she understands my daughter's moods :) As far as the teachers, my daughter's favorite is Noehmi. I love this school! My son has been going here for over 6 months and I have no complaints at all. Ms. Angelica does a really good job with my son, she teaches him words and takes the time with him. She shows me what he has learned at the end of the day and made beautiful crafts for Mother's Day and Valentine's Day! Ms Tiffany also does really well with my child and is so kind. Our son attended Next Generation for about 2 years. He started attending at 10 months old and continued until we moved out of the area. He loved his teachers. We loved the price and everything they offered. The school provided breakfast, lunch, and a morning and afternoon snack. They have very flexible hours which is great for working parents. Ms. Sophie really helped get things organized when she joined as director. Ms Sylvia was one of our son's teachers almost the whole time he was there. She was great with the children and helping teach them manners. All of the teachers were pretty good with communication and keeping us informed about our son's day and any issues that came up. Our daughter has been attending NGEC for two years. She loves going to school and has learned a lot. She surprises almost daily with what she has learned. The curriculum changes every two weeks. Which is nice and keeps us on our toes. Ms. Colleen and Ms. Nohemi are fabulous. Both teachers are very good about communicating any behavior changes or just how our daughter's day was. Any issues we are able to approach Ms. Emalina or the owner Ms. Geralyn about our concerns. We also love the Parents Nite Out. They do art, science, math, pizza party, and a disco party. Our daughter is familiar with the teachers and we get a few hours to enjoy a quiet dinner together. Wish they had them more frequently. read more

I am glad I found this place. Ms. Monique, Director, was so inviting and Ms. Beth, my son's teacher is nurturing. Although my son have his ups and downs, new daycare, new friends, new teacher, takes a bit to get comfortable. I believe he is a little too comfortable and he has his ups and downs, but they do what is best for him, for his best interest. He have learned so much in a few weeks he started there than his previous daycare. He even sings in the car which he never does, and spells his name constantly lol. Amazing since he can't stay still at times to listen. Still working on it, slow but surely. I recommend NGEC Mira Mesa. My son will be graduating in July and off to kindergarten. What a better way to graduate from a place that shows they care and treat the kids here like family. Stop in and check it out! My only gripe with this place is that my son missed his pre k graduation (he ended school 2 weeks earlier than others,) and they did not notify us of the change of the date, stating they couldn't find my number to call me. Being a first time mom I was extremely anxious at the idea of having to leave my baby when I go back to work. I didn't want to leave her with just anyone and when I toured Next Generation I immediately felt comforted by the staff and the overall atmosphere of the place. My son just graduated and I feel so confident that he will be starting TK in August with a head start. His teacher Ms. Beth has been a blessing with her patience and wisdom. Learning what my sons triggers were and how to positively influence him has made such a difference with both his emotional and educational growth. Ms. Emelina has also been very helpful with my sons development and happiness! He just loves all of the teachers and staff there that I really feel like they are our extended family. The educational lessons, songs, activities to develop their fine motor and sensory skills have really helped my son. I'm amazed that he can write his name and can write and understand the alphabet. He's just now recognizing the pattern so he can count to 100. He also continues to make friends and learning how different they all are which makes it for more fun. We have been taking our son here for about two years. Ms. Angalica is our son's favorite teacher there. She managed to potty train him in 7 days!! Even now, he still wants to be with her in her class. Problem is, he has outgrown her class and moved up. We've also had other great teachers in our sons classes; Nohemi, Deepamala, and a wonderful chef Ban. The staff have always been polite and courteous when I've been there. My Twin daughters have been attending Next Generation for 5 months. They where both speech delayed and non social. So i put them in daycare to pick up on speech and becoming more social. There Teacher Ms. Anagelica changed our lives! She taught my girls sign language and my oldest girl has changed tremendously for the better. The other twin is talking and helping out more. It if weren't for her idk if my kids would be where they are today. She potty train both our girls. And not to mention she there favorite Teacher. This review covers a 2-month infant care experience, in Spring 2017, intended to fair and constructive. Overall, we would rate this place 3.5 star out of 5. Let's start with the PROs 1. Fantastic care-room staff! Super sweet, nice, and friendly! We really appreciated having Ms. Emilia, Ms. Carmen, and the two Ms. Jennifers care for our son. Though only 4 months old, he really did developed and showed a welcoming attachment to them! 2. Very gentle and nurturing care provided 3. Many care-room staff members (beyond my son's room) knew his name and often greeted him upon arrival and departure. 4. Great, convenient location in Mira Mesa not too far off I-15. 5. Detailed daily logs. 6. Relatively spacious and inviting care rooms. 7. Secured internal entry. 8. We put down our deposit and signed up, in part, because we feel a genuine good vibe with the early Spring 2017 Director, Ms. Monique. (But after we started, she disappeared and we learned that she had transferred to another location) CONs 1. Disorganized; room for improvement. 1a. Randomly received a note indicating an impending "late" fee of $20 (despite having auto-pay), then we called the Director, she simply nonchalantly says to not worry about it, that it should be fine. Well that's great, but should silly mistakes like this every happen? BTW, not even an apology; meanwhile we are led to believe our credit card may have had a glitch. 1b. Changed CC for autopay on file on a Thursday one week. Was told it'll get updated "tomorrow morning". Old CC charged again the next week. I guess that's understandable, sometimes processing can take a week. Then the old CC got charged again a 2nd week. That's annoying; had to call to get someone to address the matter. Shouldn't require that. Don't have time for things like this. 1c. Was called one morning to come pick up son; was told over the phone that "son is running a temp of over 100". Fine, drove an hour to come pick him up at 10am. It was a warm day, he was fine; temp gone by the afternoon. Next morning, his temp issue was all gone; wife went to drop him off at 730am, was denied. Was told that he can't come back until noon the day after getting called in to be picked up. I Apparently this is their policy. Ok, fine. BUT, no mention or courtesy reminder the day before when I came in to pick him up? That would have been good "looking-out" for working parents. 2. Son's "cubbie" didn't get his name or picture put up for 2 weeks. At the start of the 3rd week, we went ahead a brought in a picture of him for them to tape up on his "cubbie". Still was no name put up for another week. So much for feeling "special". 3. Very pricey; it's not the most expensive but close to the most. Yes, it's "competitive" relative to other area daycare centers but doesn't negate the fact that it's very pricey. That said, we'd definitely fork over the money, if it wasn't for the other 4 CONs. 4. There are security cameras in care rooms but they are not "connected" in a way for parents to log on and observe during the day. In a way, this could be seen as a good thing too, in the event that they get hacked. 5. Be ready to go by the book with the current Spring/Summer 2017 Director. No budge, no relationship building, no mulligans. First thing that comes up is "the Handbook says...", "our Policy indicates...", etc. But I'm sure Directors have to enforce the rules, so good job. We're just not too impressed by it. Overall, we really did like this place for many good reasons. Our sample size of only 2 months may not be sufficient time, but it's what we experienced and this review is intended to fair and constructive. We would rate this place 3.5 star out of 5; but have to round to a whole star. read more

This review is long overdue. My son has attended Next Generation Education Center for the last two years. He started in the infant room and is now in the 2's. We absolutely LOVE NGEC and have nothing but good things to say about the love and care they have given our son. My husband and I are first time parents and when we first started looking into various daycares we couldn't imagine trusting our baby to anyone, but unfortunately, I had to return to work. From the first time we toured the facility, NGEC immediately made us feel at ease and then they far exceeded our expectations. The infant room teachers loved on him, comforted him, taught him new skills, and gave me a new confidence in being a working mom. While I would have loved to have been home with him, after a while it was very clear to me that he was getting much more from being in a group environment than I could have ever provided for him on my own at home. My son came home every day happy, clean, clearly well-cared for, and content. Then when he moved to the 1-2 year old room, they taught him skills that I didn't even know he was capable of at such a young age (but they never pushed if he wasn't ready for something). Before I knew it, he was using utensils properly, signing and then saying words, and identifying objects, letters, and numbers. They also started doing outside time (in their built in protected play area) which helped get out that extra energy and made him so happy, got him on a consistent normal nap schedule, and got him off of pacifiers. They sang and danced with the kids and read to them everyday (usually multiple times a day), and he was always coming home with a new song or pointing out things he had learned at "school". Again, he continued to come home with a big smile on his face and clearly loved(s) his teachers. We couldn't be more thankful for them. Now that our son is in the 2-3 year old room, the learning has just continued at an exponential rate. My husband and I are blown away by all of the things our son knows and does on a daily basis, and we give 95% percent (well, hey, we made him so we get a little credit ;-)) of the credit to our amazing teachers at NGEC. They are constantly coming up with new things to teach them and show them. They talk, teach, and read to them about everything from things like different emotions, shapes, numbers, and letters to various countries, careers, and skills. We LOVE how hard they work to teach keep the kids engaged and come up with new and fresh material. They still provide plenty of outdoor time and have a well balanced day of play and learning. We also love that he has grown up with many of the same little friends from the infant room and seeing how they interact, care about each other, greet each other by name, and play together; it's a great feeling. There are SO many other things we love about NGEC, and I could go on and on, but to shorten it a bit, I will them out: -Again, and this cannot be stated enough, the teachers are GREAT. They really do care about the kids and do an amazing job with them. -Security is good (multi-door access, key code to get into the inner door, everyone signs in and out, security cameras in each room that a parent can ask to see if they feel like something isn't right, kids coming and goings are tracked by teachers) -There is a convenient online portal where you can see daily updates on activities done and meals served, and you can access your dues and pay online (autopay is available too) -They post their tentative schedule on the inside of each classroom so you can see what the kids day's are structured like -They have their monthly meals list, recent inspections, fire drills and various updates posted where they are easily accessible for anyone to see -Communication with the front office is good and they are always helpful and courteous For anyone looking for a new daycare for their baby or toddler, I highly recommend Next Generation Education Center (Mira Mesa location), you will not regret it! My older son attended Next Gen for about 2 1/2 - 3 years and received loving attention from the teachers that he had. Most notably was his teacher while in the threes/fours class with Ms Nohemi. She was patient and caring with him while helping him to learn and grow. He left the school to go into kindergarten and still asks when he can go back to see her. My younger son started when he was a year old and Ms Mary took great care of him in the tots class. She transitioned through classes at the school and always finds time to connect to make sure that the boys are doing well. It is obvious that the teachers care about building a relationship with families and promoting a stable environment for the children they watch everyday. read more

We enrolled my son when he was only 3 months old because we had to go back to work and I was so nervous to be leaving my first baby with strangers! As scary as it was in the beginning, I am so glad we found Next Generation to take care of our little man! He is always so happy when he gets dropped off, I can see he loves all of his teachers! Miss Emalina, Yadira, Jenn and Carmen take such good care of him and he has made so many little friends! He is a very active little man so he keeps everyone on their toes, but if he ever falls, hurts himself or anything seems wrong, they let me know right away which I really appreciate! This is a point of view from a child: When I walk inside the classroom it smells really bad. It smells like spoiled chicken noodle soup, only when you go inside it smells like that. Also, the teachers are mean its O.K to be strict but they are mean. When they move the school agers to the baby's area, obviously, these kids don't want to go with the babies. Also, school agers have to share a playground with the babies and we don't want to be there with the babies, (they cry a lot), because we don't get to do anything with the babies around us, and it is not safe for the babies, and we think it is totally unfair. read more

Teachers beware!!! This is a long winded review but please take the time to read it if you're considering working here! Next Generation is by far the most toxic and dysfunctional school I have ever worked at. I was made a lot of nice sounding promises when I interviewed here but as a rude awakening almost as soon as I started. Ultimately what it all boils down to is that they kept things looking very nice on the outside for parents, but internally for the staff it is absolute dysfunction and chaos. I even read Yelp reviews before accepting the position and ended up being shocked at how positive they are. I found out later that teachers are given a $100 bonus if a parent gives them a 5 star review. When I accepted their offer I was given an enormous packet of rules and documents that felt like signing my life away. They over enroll the classes to get as much money as possible in hopes that enough kids will be absent to stay within ratio. When they aren't in ratio, which is most days, they shuffle kids between classrooms and age groups so that they can be staffed appropriately. This meant that kids in your class were rarely actually in your class. There were constant staffing changes because no one wants to stay there, this also included the cook and cleaners which meant that teacher were also required to do those tasks with no extra time given to do them. A large portion of the staff and parents spoke little English and were belittled and taken advantage of because of the language barrier. My hours were changed constantly and without notice and more often than not I wouldn't be able to leave on time because no one would come to relieve me. My job was threatened when I called in because I was too sick to even get out of bed, I was told I "didn't have a choice" but to come in because we were understaffed. There were constant demands to complete duties that I hadn't been given the tools to do, including doing daily online reports with a broken computer. The owner claims to have "over thirty years in childcare experience", but doesn't realize that having children and grandchildren does not make you a qualified childcare professional. She was never a teacher or director in early childhood education of any kind and has little grasp of developmentally appropriate practice. The "curriculum" she demands is often a copy of what her grandchildren are doing in elementary school - nowhere near appropriate for preschoolers. There are cameras all over, which seemed less for security of the children and more to spy on the staff. She sits and watches from her home and it wasn't a rare occurrence for her to call the school and ask "why had this teacher been sitting so long" or "why are the kids still outside?". There were so many constantly changing rules that made absolutely no sense like "don't open the windows or the kids will get sick" or "they can't use sidewalk chalk, it makes the playground look ghetto." Not to mention the way that she talks to all employees as if they are beneath her. It's unfortunate, but it became clear to me through these experiences and many others that she is all in it for the money. The director holds to the rules set by the owner, as is her job. Mostly she was really wishy washy, one minute marking you feel like she was on your side and the next wholeheartedly enforcing the ridiculous rules. She would encourage employees to come to her with any concerns but then quickly dismiss or explain them away with no resolution. The assistant director, although wonderful with children and parents, was a Drill Sargent with employees. If you weren't on her good side you weren't gonna be happy and it was like walking on constant eggshells. The amount of control that these people wanted over you was unreal, from unnecessarily strict dress codes to having to clock out for a bathroom break. They even took federal holidays like Veterans Day and made us come in for all day "meetings" filled with hours and hours of going over their nonsense rules and philosophies. Honestly I could go on and on but the bottom line is that I would never, ever recommend a teacher to take a job here or a parent to send a child here. *I worked at the El Cajon location but these locations are run the same way by the same owner. read more

My son has been going to Next Gen Mira Mesa since he was 5 months old (he's almost 10 months). We have had a great experience at this daycare!! He is in the discovery room and LOVES his teachers Ms. Farima & Ms. Yadira. When he first started Ms. Mary was also a favorite too. Michelle and Sandra always make sure to greet you when you walk in the door and are always so helpful with any questions we may have. Chef Ban is a favorite also and is always so friendly and a joy to talk to. When we drop off/ pick up Ms. Nohemi & Ms. Anna in the explorer room are always there to greet us with a smile and have taken a liking to my son. I went on a tour in January 2016 and was primarily looking at infant care. The infant room is one room divided in half with a giant baby gate. The noise level in the room was horrendous with all the babies (I think there were 16 total.) There's no way any child could feel calm in that environment. Also, they don't take the infants outside and I didn't want my son cooped up inside all the time. Also, most places I toured they gave you a packet with all their info but this place didn't. I was suspicious of this since they have to include a copy of their last inspection in the packet. I looked up their licensing info and they had a violation for a teacher almost feeding an infant another infant's bottle filled with breastmilk! After reading this we crossed this facility off our list and took our son to Early Learner's where there are 8 infants in one room, regular stroller walks, and a small patio area outside where the babies can have tummy time and roll/crawl around. read more

We have had our daughter at this school since she was only months old. I can not say enough good things about next generation! All the staff are friendly and easy to work with. I have to say Ms. Sylvia is our absolute favorite team member. She has always had a special way with my daughter and knows exactly how to comfort and teach her. Thank you for all you do! This review is for my son, he started in the baby room, he became very independent as he moved to the toddler class, when he went to the 2's class Ms. Angelica became one of our favorite teacher, she toaought my son so many new things as well as potty training, she focus on table manner, language and prewriting as well as good behavior, she has a a lot of patience for the children that she cares for, be also has a a circle time routine that the children really love and learned from, she teaches them numbers color and new words, including Spanish words, she is one of our favorites, she always had a daily report to see how my son's day went, and also the icare notes are a great way of communication between teachers and parents. Ms.Michell is always kind and has a smile on her face, she is always willing to answer any of my questions. Ms.Sandra is always ready to help and always keeping me updated in any changes, Ms.Ban the chef is always aware of my child's needs with any special request any food allergies, the policies on the center is what make the center run smoothly, we love all the teachers and how welcoming they are, we are happy with Next Gen. read more

My two daughters were enrolled in this center for about 4 months. They absolutely Loved it. They learned so much and always left with a smile and wanting to come back. The teachers are very patient and kind. I cannot thank Ms. Angelique, Ms Deepa, Ms Michelle, and so many more enough. Ms Angelique is a rock star in the toddler room. She had my daughter out of pull ups and fully potty trained in the first week. Everyone was so sweet and it was hard to leave. If we hadn't moved I would have never taken them out. Even on my girls last day they all made her a farewell card and had all the kids sign. They simply care and it shows. Thank you ladies for all your hard work. read more

We have both of our kids at next generation educational center. We have toured several other schools and ultimately chose NGES for a number of reasons. Being busy parents and always running out the door in the mornings, it is so nice and convenient that they serve our littles breakfast/meals. The teachers/directors/owners have always listened to any concerns we've had seriously and followed through with all of our requests (glass bottles/cloth diapers) no problem. I am a teacher and they have also honored all of my school breaks of a week or more and not charged us for those! My kids have been there long enough to age through several classes. Some of their favorites are both Ms Marias and all the Ms marys, ms Jennifer, Ms Carmen, Ms Brooke, Ms Emalina, Ms Sophie, Ms Yadira, and so many others. Rating Next Gen 1 star is an over statement. My child was attending this location for almost 2 years. The first year, was great. Ms. Monique was awesome as the location's Director, We loved the 2 year old classroom teachers -Ms. Tina and Ms. Beth. But a few month's shy of reaching our first year there- we started to notice the turnover for their staff was rapid! Ms. Tina and Ms. Beth both left and there has been ZERO consistency with staff ever since. The 3 and 4 year old students are placed in the 2 year old class because they are always understaffed and over ratio. Since Ms. Monique has been replaced as Facility Director, NO ONE ever in the office to speak with . And don't get me started on their accounting! WHOMEVER IS IN CHARGE OF THEIR ACCOUNTING IS STEALING THEIR MONEY! I have no access to their "online parent portal" since it was rolled out. So I am not able to access my ledger to confirm they are applying my payments. They never offer receipts- as NO ONE IS EVER IN THE OFFICE. The place is a total SHIT SHOW. I pulled my son out and would much rather him stay home while we find a new school, then attend this place. Their own staff has reported them to licensing! Now if that doesn't speak volumes- I don't know what does! They want to charge for learning center quality, but provide sub-par babysitting- even that is being generous. Parent's beware: if you decide to sign up your children, know there will be no consistency with staff, your older child may be placed in the 2YO class all day and be totally under stimulated but the staff will be willing to call you at work to come pick up your child if they give the slightest of trouble. And ALWAYS ask for proof of payment as it seems they like to "misplace " cash payments and come back and blame you for not paying and charge a late fee while they are at it. read more
