My youngest daughter's Taekwondo journey began a little over 6 years ago. We initially started out…read moreat the Rancho Cucamonga KTI location. Her journey took a pause about 8 months later when Covid 19 shut everything down. The result was the closure of that dojang, but this Fontana location reached out to us and extended the opportunity for her to continue classes at this dojang. It was a bit of an adjustment for her as far as technique, style and having to almost relearn everything due to the pause forced upon her journey. Master Nick and his fellow instructors have always been patient and kind, not only to my daughter, but to our entire family. As she's grown, she's developed quite a rapport with several of the instructors. Instructor Manny has sort of taken her under his wing and guided her along the way. There's a physical dynamic to this sport, obviously, but there's also a mental aspect as well, and that's something he's been able to help her with, helping her build confidence and remove negative self-talk. They offer group classes and also private lessons, a sparring class, cardio fitness class, etc. We also enjoy the special events they have which include visits from Kona Ice, Nerf Night, movie nights, BBQ and swim parties at the local aquatics center. They also hold an annual sparring tournament. It definitely feels like a family here. My daughter officially started her black belt training the day after testing for and receiving her red stripe belt. Instructor Manny took it upon himself to make sure she had her red stripe belt prior to the beginning of training. Black belt training is no joke. It's a 10-week training on top of regular classes, a 2-day testing and 6-month probation prior to receiving. The testing was intense and intimidating, but also one of the most amazing events I've ever been fortunate enough to witness. The camaraderie these students developed was amazing to see. Parents and supporters cheering them on. We're sworn to secrecy on the process, but that black belt was most definitely earned! This past weekend, probation was over and my daughter received her first degree black belt. She looks forward to continuing on the pursue her second degree and hopefully becoming a junior instructor. I'd highly recommend KTI for taekwondo! Thank you, KTI!

*BUYER BEWARE* be ready to pay double if you cancel!!!…read more You have to remember one thing, even though this is about your "kids" this is really a business and never forget that they are here to make money at the end of the day. My wife and I are coming into some financial issues and we asked for a cancellation, I came in person to cancel they told us that we had to email in order to do a cancellation before our next billing cycle when I asked for a cancellation in person. The response we got we have to wait 60 days two months in order to cancel our membership. That doesn't sound reasonable at all not even apartments make you wait that long. "Fair" business practices is no more than 30 days notice? But 60?!? That's a money grab and a shady business practice in my opinion. Originally I wanted to put us on hold for a few months but now I know we will never be back again. It's all about the principal. At the end of the day again it's a business and they're here to make money, not change lives. MONEY IS KING!!!!! I would highly reconsider taking your child or anyone you know elsewhere my biggest regret is signing up with them in the first place. Shame on you for shady business practices!

It's very basic, standardized, and repeated year-round. This appears intentional. Regular classes teach only the minimum, while techniques outside the posted curriculum are pushed into paid private lessons. Because of this, most students are trained as hobbyists. Extra instruction or advanced opportunities often depend on personal relationships rather than a structured development path. The curriculum is designed for retention, not depth, and this model is consistent across Gracie Barra schools. The gap becomes clear when students compete or train outside the Gracie Barra environment. While internal GB tournaments create an even playing field, they can give a false sense of progress. When students compete outside of GB or train at another academy against the same rank the difference in technical depth, adaptability, and exposure is often very noticeable. Even the instructors don't train the same curriculum as regular students, which speaks to how limited it is. Compared to other academies that teach more as part of regular training (without extra fees), this approach leaves students less prepared overall.

Your public response includes multiple false and inflammatory claims about me, and I feel it's necessary to respond to set the record straight. The incident you referenced occurred during an open mat session in 2018. At the time, I was training under the supervision of one of your coaches, who explicitly asked me not to throw punches so I could work on my defense. I followed that instruction. The training was light, controlled, and respectful. Your later claim that I was recklessly sparring with brand-new students is inaccurate, and to my knowledge, no such concern was raised until you confronted me aggressively and physically escalated the situation. As I described in my review, you grabbed my shirt, followed me into the locker room, and shoved me into the lockers. You then followed me into the parking lot while still in gear. That was not professional or necessary. In my view, it was less about safety and more about control -- and when I didn't back down, it seemed to bruise your massive ego. Regarding the private lessons: I paid you personally for a package, and the sessions were not completed. That's a fact. Whether or not I submitted a formal refund request is irrelevant -- I paid for a service that was not fully delivered. You've now made public accusations that I submitted fake reviews, used vulgar language, and harassed you over several years. I unequivocally deny these claims. They are completely false. The fact that this is only being raised now -- in response to a critical review -- speaks for itself. My review was not harassment. It was protected speech, written to share my personal experience for the benefit of others considering your gym. Your public response -- filled with personal attacks and verifiably false claims -- only underscores the concerns I originally raised.

I am officially leaving and terminating my business with them due to an incredibly toxic, unprofessional, and uncomfortable environment created by the coaching staff. Training here has made me feel singled out and mistreated. Coach Adi frequently relies on backhanded compliments and passive-aggressive behavior that creates a toxic dynamic. Furthermore, Coach Juan has actively tried to use personal information about me against me, completely breaking the professional trust you expect when signing a long-term financial agreement. The breaking point for me was a highly inappropriate and uncomfortable experience while sparring with Coach Juan. During a drill where he was not wearing a cup, he explicitly instructed me to drive my hips directly into his. Because of this, I was forced into unwanted, highly uncomfortable physical contact with his groin area. I immediately communicated how disturbing this experience was to two other students in the class. A gym should be a safe environment built on trust, respect, and professional boundaries--especially when lock-in contracts and significant monthly fees are involved. Unfortunately, Coach Juan and Coach Adi have made this space feel unsafe and toxic. I can no longer recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a safe place to train. UPDATE: After posting my honest review detailing my experience, a representative from the business responded by threatening legal litigation against me for sharing my feedback. I am updating this to warn others that this business attempts to intimidate customers into deleting negative reviews rather than addressing the actual service issue.

Also the price was 2x more expensive. The class has no structure or discipline which is the main reason you sign up for. Everyone is just thrown in the same class.
