I'm more of an AC passenger if I have to rely on public transportation. Today I was meeting up with a high school classmate of mine for lunch in Berkeley. Ashby BART, 1:00 PM, corner of Martin Luther King Jr Way and Ashby. This station is okay...eerily quiet. I don't know what it is, but I had the "heebie, jeebie" in this station. It seems as though very few people use this station to ride BART to their destination. I usually can find the exit, but I got somewhat twisted in trying to get to the upper level to exit this station. Once I exited to the parking lot, I wasn't sure which direction to head to the meeting corner. I'm glad that my classmate called me to see where I was. Then there was a stranger (and a gentleman at that) who happened to be walking in the parking lot. He was headed in the same direction of my destination. I asked if I could walk along with him. He said okay. I thanked him for helping me out. When my classmate dropped me off, she told me to be careful and vigilant of my surroundings. The return trip on BART to Downtown Oakland from this station was somewhat weird. I had some guy standing about three feet to the left of me talking to himself - about breaking a leg. I did not feel comfortable because there was hardly anybody on the platform but two other people. I believe the next time I meet her for lunch in Berkeley, she can pick me up from the North Berkeley Station, which is a better and cleaner station.

Then she slowed down and explained to me even tho my dad have a senior clipper card he still needs to upload money into the card to use (since he's a senior he gets a discount rate), but if he's looking for the free Muni clipper card, I need to fill out another form on SFMTA, and get approval. So yeah, after a few minutes of asking, she gave me the answer I was looking for and needed to proceed to help my dad for Free Senior Clipper card. I submitted the form, so now I have to wait for SFMTA approval.

If the people running Clipper had any sense, they'd add PINs to each card, but if someone guesses…read morethe right 10-digit number, they can register your card and take your balance. Should I have registered the card I bought last night? Well, I couldn't because trying to use the Clipper site this week has been next to impossible with the litany of glitches it's experiencing. Even so, I shouldn't have to register a transit card to use it on public transit. If I can prove where and when I bought the card and I *have the actual card*, no one else ought to be able to register the card! But that's what happened and Clipper told me I they couldn't (wouldn't) do anything about it when I informed them of the situation. The customer service person was nice enough, but nice customer service reps can't make up for bad policy and glitchy systems.

The conductors are always pleasant, there are tables, power outlets, and wi-fi, and, oh did I mention the cafe car where I can grab a snack, coffee, or beer! Being from a small town in AZ with no public transportation, this train made all the difference in deciding to come to Berkeley. To be fair, it can occasionally be late, or too warm in the car, but the price for monthly unlimited rides is a bargain! I just wish the bring a friend for $5 on the weekend deal applied to multi-ride tickets...it seems like it was designed with commuters in mind and ruined by corporate big-wigs! We met a…read morevery friendly bus driver who informed us that the Emery Go Round will take us for free to the Marina. We got on at 1:31pm on 6/19/26 at the Shell mound and Bay Station. The shuttle driver was extremely kind and gave us a little info on the Marina. I have a car and do not need to take public transportation in my town and as a Fresnan, our bus drivers are not so nice, our rides take forever and our system is not great. It was refreshing to meet kind bus and shuttle drivers and the fact that this service is free just shows how much this city nourishes and values their residents.
