Living on the outskirts of town means I always need to travel some distance to find food. Luckily it's the same distance north or south, so I went south this evening and finally got a chance to try the fabled Tejaro tacos! Tejaro is a food truck parked outside a small bar in Washoe Valley. Definitely not the kinda place you stumble upon, but it's absolutely a place you need to set as a destination if you love tacos. Tacos start with tortillas and these were incredibly tender. Tortillas may seem minor, but they're something that makes a good taco experience great for me! On the meats, I chose the shredded beef and al pastor. Shredded braised beef will always be my pick over Asada, which I find tends to be dry. The shredded beef at Tejaro is perfection, beyond tender and juicy, full of flavor, savory fatty, and so good with a touch of their housemade salsa. The pastor was also super tender, slightly charred with a nice spicy kick! I downed these tacos way too fast and went right back for more. You'll do the same. Put this truck at the top of your list and make a plan to enjoy taco perfection at Tejaro!

The menu is small but the food turned out to be excellent. We just had a couple tacos ($2 each) and a campechanos ($2.50). Served with a green sauce that was very hot, I only added a little. The chorizo was spicy and the asada was flavorful. They also have tortas, burritos, and quesadillas. The food was on a plate and wrapped securely in foil which kept it hot till we got it home. I ordered three veggie tacos which were filled with zucchini, carrots, cheese and come with red salsa. They forgot to include the lime, so be sure to ask for some if you like it on your tacos. The salsa is a great touch and it's not spicy, so if you're like me, it's perfect, but ask for the spicier version if you like it hot.
