My sister stole all my father's money before he died and put it in her name. She then wrote me a personal check for my share of the inheritance which was over 100 grand. I worked for IRS and if I make a mistake on my tax return I am fired. Since I invested 37 years in my job, I couldn't take a chance on not reporting that much money. He said "inheritance is not taxable." I said "I KNOW that, I work here. But because of the way she did it, how is the IRS supposed to know it is inheritance?
