I have been incredibly pleased with my experiences with the doctor. He treats you with professionalism and care. Although the doctor does have a busy practice, I have been always able to schedule an appointment easily and I have received a response to any questions often the same day that I had called. In the interest of full disclosure, I…read moredid send two friends to her and they didn't love her- Doctors are a very tricky thing and I can make no promises that she's the right doc for you just because she's right for me. Here are just some of the reasons I love going to Dr. Joannow: 1) She gives me an HIV test as part of my annual exam. It has nothing to do with my sex life, it's just a routine thing that she believes in and I think all doctors should follow suit. 2) In seven years she's maybe bruised my arm drawing blood once. I have colitis so I get a lot of blood tests, and this kind of track record is amazing 3) She's very concerned with female health and likes to be kept in the loop with my ob/gyn. 4) She loves to chat, but also listens and is very responsive to concerns and requests. 5) She's on call. I know it sometimes frustrates her because people take advantage of this, but it really is reassuring knowing that I can ping her on her cell phone in an emergency. 6) She supports local business and turned me on to Olympia Chemists, which is my new pharmacy and beats the hell out of CVS. 7) If she's booked up and you need to get in to see her she'll make every effort to squeeze you in- you just have to be comfortable with waiting patiently for her to have a window of opportunity between scheduled patients. She's not in her Astoria office everyday because she's sometimes at the hospital and I believe also has a practice on Long Island (I might be wrong about that) but she's a tireless and devoted woman who genuinely cares more about the patient than the money. We've shared many a gripe about Insurance companies and poor interpersonal skills within the health care industry. Again, I can't promise that a doctor that's right for me will be right for you, but I recommend giving her a try. Oh, also of note, she has a policy for referrals and other types of paper work. She prefers to have a week to get that sort of stuff done, because doing it all at the time of request would eat-up her time with patients. It's a bit of a pain, but I understand why she has that policy and I appreciate the thought behind it.

Parking is easy with parking on every level. Also, this location is in a good school district and feels well-maintained, safe, and well-resourced. The facility is bright, clean and modern. The staff members are welcoming and friendly. The care team here is patient, kind, reliable, caring and understanding. The doctors accommodate my special needs by extending my appointment times to 30 minutes when needed. The patients are approximately 90% White, 2% Asian, 5% Hispanic, and 3% African American. Around 70% were born in the USA and had moved to the U.S. before age 12, 80% came from highly educated families, and 70% are financially well off. I am pleased with the quality of care here and feel comfortable coming here. Even though I am always the only Asian person here, I felt welcomed, safe, respected, and supported, especially as a person with a disability in that environment. As a person with a degree who values quality Healthcare, I highly recommend this NYU Langone facility. The doctors I especially recommend are Dr. Ekaterini Hatzis (Christian, husky lover, half holistic), Dr. Khalilah Knight, and Dr. Berrin Monteleone.

I had a 3:15 PM appointment. I waited in the lobby until 4:15 PM with zero communication about any delays. I was brought into an exam room, had my vitals taken, and was left sitting there for another 30 minutes. At 4:45 PM, an hour and a half past my appointment time, I had to leave. The support staff here are excellent. Crystal was very helpful in setting everything up, and Cheryll at the front desk was compassionate, respectful, and apologetic as she processed the refund for my co-pay. Dr. Linzer, however, was incredibly unprofessional. While I was at the desk, she came out looking visibly agitated. Instead of apologizing for the massive delay, she abruptly demanded to know if I was leaving or wanted to be seen. When I told her I found the wait and the experience disrespectful, she immediately cut me off, cited "emergencies" in an aggressive tone, and quite literally stormed away. Given how I saw her handle this situation, displaying a complete lack of poise and compassion, I am truly glad I didn't receive any medical care from her. I would strongly encourage anyone considering using her as a physician to take that into account. Her time is not more valuable than her patients' time. If you want a doctor who treats you with basic professional courtesy and respects your schedule, look elsewhere.

The office is in a brownstone it looks like an the waiting area was nice. The Receptionist had me fill out some forms then I was on my way with Dr. Grishina. She was very nice and asked me the general medical questions & history. Then she gave me an overall checkup. She drew blood, which I hate doing but she was gentle and I didn't feel a thing. After that she told me when I get my results back she will give me a call. Which she did not too long ago. Yep... all the reviews are true. This establishment is very dated, unsanitary, and can use a big…read morecleanup. The waiting room is tight and snug, sitting only 9 people. The entrance is locked and I witnessed the receptionist asking other patients nearby to constantly open the door, vs unlocking it herself, which I saw her do afterwards (there's a buzzer that she has access from her receptionist desk). Means she had access the whole time, but didn't hesitate to have this poor lady stand up every ten minutes each time someone new walked in. I witnessed this for two hours. My appointment was at 2:15... I arrived at 1:20, but wasn't seen by the doctor until 4:30. I understand offices can get busy, but it was quite a wait for a "lunch break." I witnessed several other patients that were already waiting before me walk out and telling the receptionist that they didn't have the luxury of time. So they would have to come back a different time. It's unfortunate that the appointment system isn't reliable- it appears that they commonly overbook. Meanwhile, they were accepting walkins as well, so that backed up the queue of people. I highly recommend bringing a battery pack and something to keep yourself occupied for at least three hours.... Once you are called in from the first waiting area, the tech checks your blood pressure and weighs you, and then you wait another hour or so until you go into an exam room. When I was sitting in the room after an hour, someone knocked on the door (turned out to be the tech that brought me there initially) and she reacted with surprise, giving me the impression that she forgot I was there. I also noticed that they leave the monitors exposed with patient information out in the open... makes me a little uncomfortable because you'll never know if the wrong person can get access to it. I witnessed every worker, including the physicians and techs that draw your blood, use the same pair of gloves after each client. The urine and blood samples are kept right next to each other... the room where they draw your blood in is crowded and you can't rest your arm properly. So the tech had me raise my arm up while she was drawing blood. Not so great because what if I accidentally moved my arm or whatever the case may be. Fast forward to my 2nd appointment that Dr. Mythily had me make to solely pick up my results... she said they couldn't email or provide anything virtually to me so I had to come in. I addressed my concerns that I didn't want to wait another 3 hours just for results. She couldn't promise anything, which I get, but my fingers were crossed and I made an appointment at opening hours. I got a notification the night before that my appointment was delayed half an hour. I still showed up early for safe measure and luckily I got to speak with her in a reasonable amount of time. She then told me that the lab didn't do the tests I needed and continued with a defense of it not being her fault and the lab may potentially "throw it away." She proceeded with saying that now, they can email me once results are in. Interesting... ... ... wherever that fault may be, this process was a waste of time! I lost a week of waiting for this and now I have to start over somewhere else. Shows more of how unreliable and incompetent this office is.

I accompanied my friend who has mental illness for a follow up. The appointment was at 1:15. We arrived around 1:10 and we were told to go in by the receptionist. Before we enter the hallway of the exam rooms, the receptionist asked us if it is ok to be seen by a physician assistant. We thought a PA can be a good as a doctor from previous experience from other clinic, so we accepted. We waited until 1:45 and a girl in MA suite took the vital sign of my friend, and kept us waited until 2:15. At 2:15, a nurse came by and asked us if my friend took his vital yet. We said yes, but she ignored our answer and repeated question for couple times. Finally, my friend got to meet the PA around 2:30. She tried to look into my friend's chart from the Electronic Medical Record. Although she messed up the first and last name of my friend, the software still managed to locate my friend's chart twice, but she missed it and told us that she need to find someone to help her with the system. I turned out helped her to locate my friend's chart. We told the PA on a finding from a recent blood report, she responded "I need to contact the doctor and see what she wants to do." We then told her the purpose of this visit is to follow up with my friend's diabetes and continuation of a new medication dr. Prescribed in previous visit, which is not covered by my friend's insurance. She then told us that she will ask one of the nurse to take a finger sticks to determine what to do. The nurse who asked us about the vital sign came in the exam room with a glucometer. She spent about 5-10 mind to figure out how to use that machine and kept on telling us this is her first time using the machine. I did not see her throw the needle away to the BD Sharp Collector, indeed dropped another new one on the desk from the box. I hope she did not use a used one for my friend. I offered guidance owns she ignore me just like what she did with the vital. It took her about 15 mins to complete the finger sticks and she turned out forgot to record the rate. Good that she managed to retrieve the record of my friend's blood sugar level. She then escorted my friend to an exam room for a blood test. After the finger stick and blood drawing, we thought the PA has a decision what to do with my friend's diabetes. Is she going to continue the meds? Or if she has any good advise for my friend. Well, she told us "what is the blood sugar level again?", We told her the level rated, she responded "okay, I am going to call the dr. and see what she is going to do." I finished here with my review. It is 3:26pm. And we are still waiting for the doctor to call back and the PA to release us. Hopefully we will be release soon, and with an accurate and good medical advise. Where is the doctor, btw? Why can't the PA has some judgement on her own? It's like a jail here. It is 3:29 now.
