Where do I even start? First of all, I've had many therapists over the years, I have a lot of experience with talking to professionals about my many many many issues, and none of them come close to Nicolle Zapien. Listen, if you're looking for a good therapist in San Francisco, I promise you can't do better than her. Period. End of story. She is both highly intelligent and emotionally intuitive, which basically means that she is ridiculously good at connecting all the dots you lay out for her. She's like the Sherlock of psychology. Things just click into place so quickly. You explain your problem, tell her a bit about where you're coming from, and she will get you like no therapist has ever gotten you before. At least, that's how I felt after every conversation with her. I felt seen, validated, justified, understood, and hopeful after our sessions. I not only started to see the path forward, I felt like I understood myself better, and as a result, could be much more compassionate towards myself. I know all too well how stupidly hard it is to find a good therapist, and how rarely people review their therapists, that's why I felt I had to write this review. So here are the key reasons I think Nicolle should be your next therapist:
1. You don't have to explain anything to her excessively. She is intelligent enough to read between the lines and see the patterns.
2. She is able to synthesize information in such a way that she can form an accurate psychological picture of you in her mind. She applies this information to various issues and sees the common thread.
3. She gives clear insights into your behavior and feelings, making you feel like you are getting to know yourself better.
4. She is very professional. I've had therapists in the past that looooved to talk about themselves and their personal lives during our sessions. Nicolle keeps it 100.
5. She asks lots of good questions. I HATE when therapists have me floundering through a 50 minute session on my own. I need direction. Guidance. I need someone to guide me with focused questions.
6. Maybe this is a California specific problem, but some of the people I've worked with in Cali like to tackle psychological problems with yoga, crystals, magic spirits, and the like. I was extremely relieved that Nicolle spent exactly zero time talking about auras or reincarnation.
K, that's it from me. Best of luck y'all. read more
