Dr. Kao and his staff were not only professional but also incredibly warm, caring, and empathetic. He's a doctor who really knows how to get to the bottom of things (no, that won't be the last pun...unfortunately). I was initially nervous about having my procedure done without anesthesia, but the team immediately put me at ease. They explained everything thoroughly and made sure I felt calm and relaxed throughout the process. To my surprise, the procedure wasn't bad at all! Seriously, on a pain scale (1-10) it never got more than a 2--and that was only for about a second. I know pain tolerance is subjective, but I had NO pain during this procedure (Pain is in the brain!). Dr. Kao and his team's calming presence and genuine concern for my comfort made all the difference. I feel bad because I forgot the name of the lovely lady who was talking in my ear and calming me, literally the entire time, while Dr. Kao was....getting to know me. The whole team kept me calm and even made me laugh during the procedure--Who knew a colonoscopy could be this much fun?! Dr. Kao and his team are not just skilled, they're also incredibly compassionate. He and his team never made me feel like just another patient; they treated me like a person and I genuinely felt cared for. So, if you're looking for a gastroenterologist who will handle your care with dignity, professionalism, and maybe even a little humor, I can't recommend Dr. Kao enough.

She took detailed information and concerns of mine. She was able to put in bloodwork I needed to the lab but I was able to take her recommended lab work to have my doctor put it in so that some of the lab work would be covered by insurance. The lab work is much more extensive than the basic lab work your traditional doctor does for you. Her lab work was able to have her give you recommendations on supplements and diet. The lab work is an eye opener to seeing how unbalanced my body was. Just before having the vaccine, she instructed me on what tinctures to take prior to having the vaccine so that wouldn't have any or mild side effects. The first two vaccines I took the tinctures and I barely had any symptoms. When the booster came out and I completely forgot about taking the tinctures, I had a headache and was tired for two days. I'd been through Kaiser, PAMF, Sutter Health; nobody would listen and nobody would help. I felt so hopeless, defeated and truly sick. I was experiencing debilitating fatigue, excruciating pain in my tailbone, extreme nausea, issues with overactive bladder, blood in my stool, a swollen abdomen, weight that I couldn't lose no matter what I tried ...the list goes on. Every day was a struggle and every day I felt so unwell, and there was no explanation. The nausea has been affecting me for over 30 years. The final straw that pushed me to find help outside of what my insurance would cover, was testing positive for colon cancer at 46. I didn't really have the money to seek alternative care, but feeling like I was on the brink of death motivated me to reprioritize my life and figure it out. I found Dr. Kizzy out of sheer desperation. I chose her because of the reviews I read. I could write pages and pages about how wonderful she is, but to summarize, I feel amazing! She recommended an amazing therapist (Taryn Weinkam, PhD) who helped me release the trauma I've been holding onto for so many years. The therapy helped with this as well, it's no longer an issue. · Extreme Nausea - It was from H.pylori. Nausea is one of the main symptoms. If Kaiser or Sutter had run a simple test, this could have been diagnosed decades ago. My nausea is completely gone. · Swollen Abdomen & Bloody Stool - Both of these were from SIBO and both are no longer present. · Excess Weight - SIBO contributed to this, but so did the feeling of hopelessness. I credit both Dr. Kizzy and therapy. Our bodies react to our mental state. I've dropped 30 lbs and fit back into clothes I never thought I'd be able to wear again. Instead of leaving a message for Levenson, they interrupted him while he was with a patient. He was very angry, which is understandable. He berated me for being the one who asked the question, which is not understandable. I don't care if someone wears a white coat. They still need to treat their customers with dignity and manners, which he didn't do that time, so I won't be giving him any more business. If you call the office, make sure to explicitly tell them you want to leave a message for him. You don't want to speak to him if he is with a patient.

On top of that, he seems ahead of his time in using technologies that are state of the art, and is one of the few physicians that whenever possible does not have to open people up, instead entering inside a patient endoscopically. As a result, the procedure is minimally invasive. The time spent in the hospital is usually as an outpatient, going home the same day, and the healing time is greatly reduced. It is my feeling that there are many surgeries that can be done without any cutting when done endoscopically, and that this is the way of the future.

I'm extremely disappointed in the service and billing with Dr. Leung's office…read more I went to see Dr. Leung in October 2018 for GI issues and to schedule a colonoscopy, after a referral from my primary care doctor. I waited a long time to see her, which is always frustrating. But despite my long wait, I really liked her and felt comfortable with her. She was very dismissive of my biome reports I brought her, saying she didn't know their laboratory or methods. However, she ordered similar tests for me, so she didn't dismiss my concerns. It bothered me because she wouldn't even look at them at all.. Told me I likely have celiac (which the tests had tested for and I don't...). We discussed my medical history and she said I wasn't eligible for twight for my colonoscopy due to the fact that I have woken up previously during surgery. Dr. Leung sent me home with a list of labs to have done and a colonoscopy prep kit to pick up. I scheduled my colonoscopy and left. I had to reschedule my colonoscopy because I couldn't get a ride home afterwards and they won't allow you to take a Lyft. We set a date for December. No one ever called me for pre-op, no one ever called me again from her office. Due to an emergency, I had to leave the area and was in Orange County during this time as well. Today, June 7th, 2019, I open a collections bill from Dr. Leung's office. I am incredulous. A doctor gives me TWO PAGES of lab tests to get done, never contacts me about them. No one from the surgery or office EVER contacted me again, no one ever called for any pre-op, no one ever called to confirm my surgery. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Now they're billing me for a missed procedure???? This is bullshit. Period. This is not how you treat patients; like a cash cow when you don't even provide service or follow up. I will never see this doctor again or pay this bill.
