NOTES: ~ This review is based on my experience on a Saturday night, so it was relatively busy. Ambiance: This place is really clean and fancy. It could get pretty crowded so I recommend calling ahead to make a reservation if need be (for large parties). Thankfully, I only had a party of 2 so it was pretty easy to accommodate and needed to wait only about 15 minutes or so. On the inside, with all the glitz and glamour, Cosmo is definitely made for a special night out to treat yourself every now and again. Customer Service: From what I've seen, before you go in while you're still in the queue, they could get a bit short with you and impatient. However once you finally sit down, the staff is attentive and respectful. I guess just grit your teeth through the service until you finally get in? Food: This is why I love Cosmo. It goes for a pan-Asian Fusion experience with cuisine from all around the world - Chinese, Indian, etc. I'm a huge fan because I've been seriously lacking authentic non-Chop Suey Chinese food in Swansea and Cosmo definitely delivers. My recommendations: ~ Potstickers. They're little nuggets of meat wrapped in flour and pan-fried. Delicious and juicy on the inside. The chef here does some of the best potstickers I've had! ~ Duck w/ Pancakes. Get it with Hoisin Sauce (a brown slightly sweet thick sauce), cucumber, and wrap it all up in a pancake. Delicious! ~ They make really really good battered chicken on a stick. ~ The queue for large dishes such as the lobster, salmon, etc takes a VERY long time so it depends whether or not you want to go. It's really well made though and fresh. ~ Get the dim sum. They're in round wooden containers and the custard buns are delicious. I'd definitely come here again.

There was a wide selection of Indian and Chinese food to choose from, I assume there is more of a selection in the evening too. The food wasn't 5/5 but it was definitely what I'd expect when I'm paying £6.50. The drinks are quite expensive, however beer is at a relatively normal price which is a positive! Overall I'd come here again, in fact I look forward to it and trying out the other options they have.

However, my partner came here on his lunch break once and he told me that they actually had way more on offer that was actually authentic! So reluctantly I decided to give it a try when he suggested it for dinner tonight. I'm really glad I gave Mt Fuji a second chance because their food is awesome! ~ Atmosphere: It's only a tiny restaurant in the middle of St David's. As most other restaurants at St David's, it's open to people watching as the seating area is open to the entire shopping mall. They also have Japanese music playing and anime photos on their menu. I hope that gives you an idea of just what kind of place Mt Fuji is but it certainly gives a lot of charm! ~ Customer Service: Really good! The waiter who served us was very friendly and even came over every now and again to check on us to make sure we were okay. I don't normally leave tips in Britain, but I couldn't help but give him one. Furthermore, the food came out really quickly so it definitely makes it lunch-break friendly. ~ Food: I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry w/ Udon. Tbh, I didn't realise it would be an actual soup at first, I thought it'd be like katsu curry don except udon instead of rice. The taste was good, although I wish I could've ordered something else since curry broth isn't really my thing unless it's laksa. However, the chicken was cooked perfectly and I'm a hardcore udon noodle fan so they were to die for! My partner and I shared a Gyudon between us and it was absolutely delicious! The meat was marinated and so tender. They were quite generous with the meat as well; the dish had a perfect meat-to-rice ratio. --- I still have to get used to the price of Japanese food in Wales, but in comparison to other Japanese establishments Mt Fuji isn't too bad (£10-11 for a main). The food is tasty and definitely well worth it.

We couldn't have been more pleased nor surprised. Tom our waiter was excellent and the food appeared quickly and piping hot. But what was most impressive was how carefully prepared and authentic the food was. I'm third generation Japanese American and am well aware of how things should be prepared. My husband and I both had bento boxes. I had the chicken teriyaki and tempura both delicious and served piping hot. The tempura was light and crisp. Everything down to the Japanese pickles and the sesame chicken and green bean salad was right on the mark. My regret is that we are leaving early tomorrow morning and will not be able to try the domburi or udon. At least we are posting this review to say gochiso sama. Domo arigato gozai mashita!

Also I really liked how the tables where so separated there not to close so you are taking over the person next to you with that in mind the music was also a very nice volume I could speak however in the silence of eating it was nice .I would 100% go again

Imagine my shock upon finding a sushi place that does amazing crazy American-style rolls in Cardiff! A firm recommend from me. *NOTE: You MUST book in advance. The restaurant is tiny and extremely popular. We booked in advance for my birthday meal and it was filled to the brim. We witness the host needing to turn away quite a few people who showed up without a reservation. If you don't have a reservation, you might end up disappointed. --- ~ Atmosphere: It's a tiny little restaurant with cramped seating. It's nice and clean, but I wouldn't recommend it for large groups at all. ~ Customer Service: The only downside. Don't get me wrong, everyone was very nice but I think it was understaffed when we showed up. There was only one waitress and she acted as a host/server/waitress for an entire filled-to-the-brim restaurant. She was always busy with something that it would take quite a while to flag her down. It took quite a while before our orders were finally taken but from that point the food didn't take too long to arrive. ~ Food: Fantastic. We ordered a selection of different Maki Rolls which came on cute bridges used as platters. My recommendation would definitely be Yellow Dragon, which is a roll of salmon, avocado and cucumber topped with melted cheese. For £7.80 it was well worth it. The prices were fair so it was fun to order a bunch of rolls to see which are the favourites. I left full and without a massive hole in my wallet. Will definitely be making a return trip! TIP: Don't skip the mochi for dessert!

Now, I'm a massive sushi lover... whether it be traditional nigiri or the modern maki, I'm a seasoned fan (especially from growing up in SF, where not liking sushi is a form of blasphemy). Yakitori #1 definitely scratched my sushi-itch. ~ Customer Service: Where it ranks down for me - not with the waiting staff, they were lovely. But my food came way before my partner's. I initially waited for him, but my food started getting cold so he told me to just eat. We ended up sharing my plate of Chicken Katsu Curry because he was starving and I felt really bad. Right before the last bite of my meal was finished, his ramen came. Obviously, that doesn't make for a pleasant dining experience. ~ Food: Absolutely delicious! For starters, we ordered the Soft-Shell Crab which came with a spicy mayonnaise (£8.95) and a Salmon and Avocado maki roll (£9.50) - both really delicious and reminiscent of the excellent sushi of my childhood. If you're planning on going to Yakitori #1, I'm just going to toss my recommendation out there... DEFINITELY get the soft shell crab; it was divine! I had the Chicken Katsu Curry as my main for £10.50 - came with a side of rice, salad, and a tempura-battered sweet potato chunk. Not out of this world, but a tasty and satisfying dish nonetheless - the chicken was cooked perfectly and went very well with the rice. My partner ordered the beef fillet ramen for £14.50. All I can say is... if you're a ramen lover like we were, do not go for the ramen. Tasty noodle dish, but nothing like an actual traditional ramen. To be fair, unless a restaurant specialises in ramen it's a difficult thing to get right. --- The food was delicious, but I do feel as though it wasn't exactly worth it for the price, which is why I'm dragging my review down to 3 stars (the food quality itself is probably 4 stars). I get that seafood and sushi is expensive, but for the cheaper-quality dishes such as the curry or the ramen, the portion sizes was just too small for what you pay. That combined with the awkward wait time in between my chicken and my partner's ramen, I won't exactly be running back. Don't get me wrong, the food is amazing and I wish this business all the success in the world, but my search for the best Japanese restaurant in Cardiff is most definitely still in progress.
