However, you still don't want to be anywhere north of exit 8A during rush hour. It's hard to believe that the entire roadway only took 24 months to complete (opening in 1952) when simple repairs can now be counted in five year increments but if you're anxious to flee the Garden State the Turnpike is still the quickest way out. It's also hilarious to think about the promise made during construction that tolls would only last five years or so until the project's bonds were paid off. This is New Jersey, I just cracked two ribs from laughing so hard. Four solid stars.

A place for…read moreinformation The Municipal Building in the town of Mount Holly is a very functional and purposeful structure that was opened in 1930. A cool old building but not a particularly aesthetically pleasing one. It kind of remains me of an old school inside with the narrow halls and old stuff hanging on the walls. I don't think this place has been remodeled in quite a while. It is functional though, lots of signs to tell you where to pay various bills or get the endless town forms and little benches and chairs to sit on while you wait. Of course it's also a good place to find records and information about people that lived or were born in the area a long time ago. People that are now far, far away. The clerks and other various folks working here were all patient, pleasant and useful. When they didn't have the information I needed they explained why and where I could get it. Not the most attractive building in the town but it does have it's own kind of old school charm. A pleasant and functional place to visit when you need some information.

Despite the narrative pushed largely by one major political party, the security of our election is only being compromised on a large scale by disinformation from Russia. Unfortunately, combine that with a hijacking of the postal service by an individual whose only qualification is being a donor to the current President, and many people of all stripes have legitimate concerns that our voices will be heard in this election cycle. So what to do? Well, vote! There are dropboxes located throughout Burlington County. I chose to use the "main" box located in the county seat of Mount Holly. The box is located on Rancocas Road directly opposite the multistory county services building. On it, there's a reminder that it is under 24 hour video surveillance and it closes at 8 pm on Election Day (November 3 this year). I'm glad I made the trip and trust our local officials will ensure counting goes smoothly. Thank you to Burlington county for providing us these secure drop boxes as another option in this pandemic. Exercising a constitutional right should be facilitated, not obstructed. Here's hoping for a peaceful, free and fair election. Update: There was a long line snaking out the front door onto the sidewalk, which piqued my curiosity. I called the County Board of Elections and learned a few things: -the drop box is collected EVERY HOUR during business hours and it's usually quite full -one only needs to present their ballot inside if they're bringing it in on behalf of someone else (and sign the envelope accordingly) -the representative said that another reason for the long lines was that "so many people aren't trusting in the system and they want to hand it directly to someone." In a state like NJ more and more strip malls and larger malls seem to be gobbling up all available real estate. And then installing every conceivable chain store that can pay the rent. In this town I can thankfully state that there are NO chains that I can see. Even the drugstore is an independent, that strangely even serves as a liquor store. There are about 10 diverse restaurants, several of which are 4 star or better spots. There is also a quality cupcake bakery and a seasonal ice cream shop. A few artsy stores and a few unique clothing shops round out the retail offerings. I urge passing by commuters to exit 295 or 206 and head into town while these businesses are still here. Great library with extensive resources…read more As a library within the large Burlington County Library system, this location has many popular (and obscure) book titles, as well as audio books, and movies. Their website is fabulous because you can search the full catalog online, which shows where the title that you want is located--- the library branch, the shelf within that branch, and whether it is checked in. And if it isn't in the branch that you want, you can request to have it sent there! You can also request it to be sent to your postal address for a $1 fee. Also, the Burlington County Library system uses Overdrive for digital loans of audio and e-reader books. You can put yourself on wait lists, create wish lists, and easily download materials. The lending time for digital loans is 2 weeks. If you borrow a physical paper book from the library, you have 4 weeks to enjoy it. :-)

We were waived up to the entrance immediately upon pulling up. My next visit the line was much longer but moved rather quickly. All three employees I dealt with were very nice and respectful. We waited inside while our cars were inspected and were in and out within minutes. Great experiences both times and will continue to come here for future inspections.
