    Potatoes- incredible!
    Lindsay S.

My family and I have camped down at the campsite down below and always enjoy when we go into the tasting room. Previous years I was not as crazy about there wines but this year I was very impressed and be a fan. I loved the Merlot and Rose. My husband loves the dream catcher but it's too sweet for me. This last visit we went just for some appetizers and a glass of wine on the patio while we waited for our group to arrive. This was the first time getting food here and it was delicious!! We got the burrata on sourdough with roasted butternut squash and the crispy miso potatoes. Both were incredible! They were both so unique but amazing we couldn't put them down! Only con for this place is we all had weird experiences with the host. They take reservations very seriously and wouldn't let two members join our tasting when they were running late and said they had no availability when the place was dead empty. We also had another experience where they almost didn't let us join our family on the patio because we didn't have enough time before our tasting reservation even when we said we weren't ordering anything. Hopefully they loosen up with the unnecessary rules because otherwise it would have been a perfect trip.

Nk'Mip Cellars (pronounced Inkameep) is an indigenous owned winery in Osoyoos. We booked a premium tasting and every staff member working there were friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the White Meritage and the Red Meritage. Proceeds of the tastings go towards the the Nk'Mip Cultural Centre towards the preservation of the Native Okanagan language.

Nk'Mip Cellars (pronounced Inkameep) was our first stop on our winery tour. The moment I stepped into the winery, I was impressed; the place was beautiful and bright, and the employee who served us (Lorne, if I remember correctly), was very friendly and informative. The first two samples are complimentary, and an additional four samples are $3. (Wines from their QwAM QwMT Tasting Gallery are $10 to sample.) I tried the Dreamcatcher, Rose, Talon, and the Mer'r'iym. I enjoyed them all, and I had a tough time deciding which one to purchase. In the end, I bought a bottle of the Dreamcatcher, as well as a jar of their Fire and Ice Wine Jelly. (They had an amazing selection of spreads, and if my budget allowed, I would have bought everything!) We didn't have the time or budget to try out the restaurant, but if I ever have the opportunity to visit the area again, I'd love to have lunch there. And of course I will buy more wine! This review is only for the wine tasting. And, I truly hate not giving a higher rating. I was really looking forward to a visit and tasting here. However, when you're in a region with lots of wineries to choose from and lots of places with excellent views, the competition is a bit steep. We did the $5 tasting for 5 wines, which was waived with our purchase of their Talon (red wine). We tried their Chardonnay and all 4 red wine options. Nothing of what we tasted was particularly noteworthy or worth trying again. Even as we polished off the bottle of Talon we purchased his evening, I was mostly relieved. It wasn't either smooth or bold, but rather a bit bitter and sharp. In light of the other positive reviews of Nk'Mip, it seems that we really missed out on what's special about this place, but unfortunately I doubt we'll return anytime soon for a second visit.

You have to go out on the patio that is attached to the tasting room while you are here. You will be rewarded with the most amazing view of the vineyards with the lake and Western mountains as a backdrop. You can taste a lot of the wines at Nm'Mip for free. There are a few that you have to anti-up $2 for. Paying the $3 to taste their Qwam Qwmt Riesling Icewine is worth it, even if you can't afford a $60 375-ml bottle. Qwam Qwmt is their higher line of wines ($24.99 to $34.99). The regular winemaker series($17.99-$22.99) comprises most of their tasting line up. The 2007 Riesling ($18.99) was our favourite. It's sweet, yet there's a balancing acidity that makes it such a reward to sip. There's some shopping to be done here -- in addition to their wines for sale, there is also a selection of jewellery, art, books, wine accessories, glassware and other related products. The Osoyoos Indian Band has a lot going on in very close proximity to the wine shop. In addition to the patio restaurant, there's the Pasa Tempo restaurant, the suites, a golf course, the Desert centre, and just down the street is the campsite and riding stables.

Nk'Mip Cellars is a joint project between the Osoyoos Indian Band and Vincor International and enjoys the prestige that comes with being North America's first Aboriginally owned and operated winery. The winery site looks over Lake Osoyoos and is located in what remains of the Pocket Desert- the only desert in Canada. The winery building's design is influenced by aboriginal culture and the desert locale, and the interior decor features works by local band artisans as well as numerous displays that recount the evolution of the winery and vineyards. Visitors may enjoy lunch on the winery's front patio while taking in the view of intermingling desert and vineyards on the shores of Lake Osoyoos. Recently completed as part of the Nk'Mip development project, is Sonora Dunes, a nine-hole golf course, and Nk'mip Campground/RV Park. Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort and Spa is soon to be completed along with a Desert and Heritage Centre. Visitors may also explore the Pocket Desert. Wines aside, the buildings and amenities alone demonstrate the great commercial presence of this winery and make for an interesting visit. The tasting room at Nk'Mip is spacious, and has two tasting bars. During busier months be prepared for some line-ups. Visitors may also browse some of the displays and local artwork, clothing, and other accessories for sale while they wait. Tastings are $2.00 each for wines from the Qwam Qwmt series. Last Word : The events at Nk'Mip are well worth planning ahead for - especially the Traditional Salmon Feast.

Sadly I am underage... but there was beautiful artwork displayed, and the wine tour was beautiful and very in depth. The tour guid (Sharon I believe her name was) went into lots of detail about everything and all of the very important stages of wine making and showed us how everything was done. And yes, there was wine tasting!

Very convenient hours for people who are thirsty when the BC Liquor store isn't open haha…read more Prices are reasonable for a private liquor store, and a decent selection of Spirits. I moved to Osoyoos earlier this year and was soon a regular patron at Sage Liquor Store as it was…read morethe closest to our home and within walking distance. It soon became apparent that the older, grey haired, thin faced woman who works the till had a serious problem serving me. I went out of my way to make small talk and be friendly even though she always gave me the absolute creeps. She's one of these annoying, fake types that gives off bad vibes and just tries way too hard. The guys who work there, however, are awesome; very easy going and well... normal. Unfortunately, it was this woman who seemed to get most of the evening shifts which is when I would often stop by. I caught her more than once following me around the store and watching me like a hawk with her beady eyes. I'm not white and I'm very much aware of how certain white people treat people of colour in these small towns (hello Kelly Pocha). It was clear this woman has a problem with people of colour; she racially profiled me, criminalized me and harassed me from the start. After several months of shopping there, spending hundreds of my hard- earned dollars, she had the audacity to tell me last Monday evening, while I was paying for my purchases, that I had to leave my shoulder bag with her up front if I shopped there again. She said it was because "the owner said". Uh huh. Right. This is the best you can come up with? I smirked and said nothing. But then she started to quiz me about my bag, where I got it, what kind was it, just asking these inane questions while I was trying to leave the store. I wanted to laugh in her pointy pasty face then and there because she was just trying so hard to power trip. It was sad and gross. But you have to feel sorry for people like that because that's all they have. Obviously, this woman is a not too bright racist with a huge chip on her shoulder though so I'm leaving this review to warn other non-white patrons. If "the owner" reads these reviews, he may want to consider firing this old bat though because she's driving local business away. All you're going to wind up with is tourists who don't know any better. There's another woman of color who left a review stating she was also rudely treated when shopping here months ago. Hmm, wonder who the culprit was? Clearly this store is unfriendly, hostile even, to anyone not white and I think it all begins with who you hire to be the face of your place.

I stopped by because I couldn't make it to Naramata to hit a winery. I googled and this place was selling it (at a reasonable price). The place is fully stocked as is so well laid out. I was looking for a particular ice wine and the lady went above and beyond to see if they had any in the back. Then she recommended alternative options with similar price points. It was incredible! I told her no, and told her I am fully of age and asked if she's like to see my id. She didnt think that was funny and threatened to not sell to me! I was like, what are you even talking about?? I am of legal age and am here to buy something, and because she didnt like me responding to her threat she said "thats it im not selling you anything'. I couldnt believe it. I asked her "so you come up to me and harass me, and now you say you wont sell me anything?" She argued back with me about how she didnt harass me and again said she would not sell me any product. I put the beer down and told her that i'd be talking to her manager. She laughed and said "you are banned from this store". I called her a "C*nt" and left the store. I do NOT recommend this store.
