Already going in…read moreI knew a couple of things: 1) quirky record shopping spot but worth a visit, 2) space is tight in the shop, and 3) categorization is hit and miss but there is plenty to browse through no matter which way you make your way through within the shop. There are all sorts of music and music-related items sold here that goes beyond vinyl but vinyl is what Rick has the most of. I saw cassettes, VHS, CD's, apparel, books, posters, vintage toys or memorabilia, and even laser picture discs here too. As you walk around you will see old and vintage posters and promotions pinned up that make the visit even more interesting. I found some good gems and like everyone else has explained in their reviews you will have a good 2-5 minute way to get a true price for your finds. Rick and his partner will inform you on the price after, what it seems, they make their evaluation on the records and might have to reference/look up pricing. The pricing was no doubt on the higher side of what you would find on Discog's for your pull of records but for me that was okay. I knew the records I stumbled upon could be rare (without checking on Discogs myself during my visit). I found a 1976 version of Patti Smith Horses that was in pretty decent condition for under $30 which is a fair price. Next time I am in the area I will definitely be back and make it a point to look for records within the 1950's - 90's era.

Walking in I was blown away at how incredible…read moreit was. the owner greeted me upon arriving and offered help if needed. the selection is quite extensive for new vinyl as well as pre owned. new and vintage turntables as well as speakers and guitar accessories are also available. the owner is extremely knowledgeable and will try his best to find what you're looking for if it isn't in the shop. Any music lover will be very impressed with this shop, and I encourage you all to take a trip to experience this incredible vinyl wonderland.

Put simply = The Absolute BEST Music Store in the Shreveport - Bossier area. I urge anyone,…read moreespecially the 20-30s something crowd, to set aside a simple hour or 30 mins to visit the shop. It's not some generic rehash or regurgitated display that one typically encounters , especially in a an area like the Ark-La -Tex (ie. the typical music store examples I run across, either trying capitalize on what's left of the grassroots analogue and vintage vynil/LP craze, or imitating some "x" nostalgic landmark relic, from days gone by, etc. That being said, the place is a veritable treasure chest full of hall of fame level-vintage stereo gear, LPs and speakers; BUT, this store provides much more than that. The owner always seems to have the perfect mix of quality modern gear, being the area's main/selected distrubutor for new amps, and turntables, etc.; with a nice mix of vintage components and quality vintage pressings in the LP section. If you've never been, and you enjoy listening to, or playing a musical instrument (quite an enviable quitar section they have as well); Then at the very least, just stop by. You'd be hard pressed not running into something ya want to buy., plus there's not many places anymore, that one can actually have a chance to listen to music/equipment, in-person, before purchasing anymore.

Laid out in an elongated building in deep inside Antique Alley lies this southern charm. From coke collectibles to a cornucopia of old vinyl records and from an assortment of books to baseball memorabilia, this establishment literally might have it all. They only really want the newest of releases it seems and mostly, even then, they offer you back a mere pittance in return, making you feel like an early 19th century British beggar wandering the store for alms when you're trying to peddle your wares. "Alms, sir?...Alms?...Alms for the cd, kind sir?...Alms for the dvd to feed a kind, gentle and yet meager young lad, sir?...Alms?" This is a great store to waste some time in, but it is not the store in which to get your bankroll back on Seasons 1-5 of "Desperate Housewives" dvd collection that you bought at Sam's Club back in February... Cheap used vinyl, which is good--I own the entire Steely Dan catalog because of this store (with the exception of "Can't Buy A Thrill", every copy of which I find looks like it's been underwater since 1976), for which I am forever grateful. The problem of course is that they were very overpriced when it came to used CDs--who is going to spend eight dollars on a used Folk Implosion album? Someone, perhaps, but not me. Not that it matters, of course: no one buys CDs anymore anyway. The last time I set foot inside, there was a 60 year old woman looking for a Skid Row EP, which sadly illustrates what most of their clients were like. Ah life. The store is closing soon.

A lot of the books were older and the prizes were kinda high in my opinion for the ones I was looking at, but I completely understand the economy we are in and businesses need to stay open. The store itself is a little bit older and a little run down, but in okay condition. The bathroom didn't have air conditioning so it was stuffy and older, but otherwise, it was easy to browse and walk around.

Walter is AWESOME! I needed to buy two books for my nieces for Christmas and after looking online,…read moreit showed they had it in stock. When I called, one of the books was nowhere to be found. Walter ordered it for me, but it wouldn't be in for a week. I have to ship these to Alaska, and I am hoping to get them there by Christmas, so the sooner I can buy them, the better. I received another call about two hours later, maybe less, and Walter said he just couldn't let it go, and finally was able to hunt the book down. What a fabulous store with excellent customer service. Someone give that man a raise. It's Christmas! :)
