It turns out, we grabbed a double shot of espresso instead of the hot chocolate! Oh, whatta mixup. So, now my 10-year-old kid knows what coffee tastes like, and vows to never drink coffee ever again. He did eventually get his hot chocolate and enjoyed it a lot more than espresso. I wanted to get a little something sweet, but when we visited in the late morning, there was nothing really in the display cases except a couple of muffins. This doesn't seem like the place to find a lot of baked goods, anyway. The restrooms here are something else. There are two very small rooms with toilets, and then there's a communal sink around the corner. It's not immediately apparent that there's a place to wash your hands that's around the corner, so I'm hoping that people figure it out.

Durar is located in downtown Morgantown, and it's the only Yemeni coffee shop in the area. They offer a number of other desserts, including a variety of cheesecake in unusual flavors, like pistachio, kunafa and lotus. They also have croissants, bagels, milk cakes and danishes. Of course, Durar has coffee. They serve Yemeni coffee, which has spices like cardamom and clove in it. if you're dining in, you can get it presented to you nicely on a tray, with real cups and a carafe. They also have espressos, lattes, iced coffee and hot chocolate. It took quite a while to get my honeycomb bread, but they were super busy, which I liked to see, so it didn't bother me. The honeycomb bread was worth the wait, for sure.

But I remembered the words of a man much wiser than me who once said, "I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death," so I felt like a lil' iced coffee would actually be beneficial, in this case. No regrets. The iced coffee was great! I always forget about iced coffee when I'm at a coffee shop, because I just usually order a hot black coffee. I'm so stuck in my ways, sometimes! But iced coffee was a good choice in this situation, and it came with a little vanilla cream, which was unexpected but a nice indulgence. The Grind is located right across the street from West Virginia University. It was packed when I visited, and I imagine it is almost always packed, because of its location. But the people who work here are very efficient and friendly, and my iced coffee was ready lickety-split. I got my coffee to go, but there are some tables inside the coffee shop to sit and relax, if you wanted to. One of my favorite things about The Grind is that they have a confession box in the restroom. I left a little confession in the box, because it promised that the box was "a safe place to share what you can never tell a soul," and I felt that I could trust this random coffee shop in West Virginia with my whole heart. You can tell the owners put a lot of effort and care into their shop, and the energy is upbeat, though the lighting and flooring make it feel like you're in an office. Despite that, the coffee was solid, and it was very quiet early on a Monday morning while all the students were in school. Definitely an ideal place to get some work done!

Oh my gosh, they have an amazing array of everything you can imagine! From handcrafted in-house rose petal creamed honey, to peanut butter ice cream, to Eastern oolong teas. Today we got: Mushroom barley soup Caramel snickerdoodle Caramel latte Rose petal Earl Grey tea with honey and a splash of cream Creamed rose petal honey - made in house Chai scones Pup cup The owner and her staff are wonderful people. Her assistant even helped me carry my stuff out to the car in the rain and when I voiced my concern about him getting all wet he laughed and said "I won't melt". Lovely ambience inside as well. This place, from the taste of it already, went a little lighter on the sweeteners but still had enough of a touch that it tasted really good. They had other very delicious beverages that I also probably would have very much enjoyed if I hadn't impulsively blurted out the fish thing I saw.
