I hate that I don't know the name of the woman who did both my finger and toenails, ask I strive to recognize folks by name. I went for a step above the basic pedi. The massage chair controls were a bit overwhelming and I was only able to get it to work for about half the time I was in the chair. There were so many people there on a Friday afternoon-lots of hustle and bustle!! I have not been to a place that offered so many color options before! I'm happy with the French on my feet! I got my nails done when I was in town for work and this place did not disappoint when doing my nails. The design wasn't exactly as I wanted but she was very nice and did a good job doing my nails. I got dip nails and so far they have been great. They were very helpful making sure the color I wanted matched other what they had. I was visiting NC and happens to be at this mall. I had plans to get a refill and a pedicure somewhere else but saw this one while walking in the mall and decided to try it out. Right when I entered, I was welcomed nicely and offered a seat at the pedicure chair. About 15 to 20 mins later, someone came to do my pedicure. My refill was next, didn't have to wait. I went to the Noire Nail Bar at Southpoint Mall in Durham. Sadly, I did not have a good experience. I asked for a regular manicure. I was not offered anything to drink, although they note this as complimentary on their webpage. The gentleman doing my nails seemed to be very inexperienced. My hands were put in cool water. He pinched my cuticles and used some kind of sander on them. Then, when he filed my nails, he was very rough and it caused discomfort on the sides of my fingers. I actually asked him to stop and was going to leave, but another woman came over to step in and so I stuck it out. (I wish I had left.) He then used a scented lotion on my hands without asking me and it was very irritating to my skin. (I would have skipped this if I had the opportunity). Then he put three coats of polish and a top coat. After my nails were painted, he then filed the sides again, which I thought was very strange and caused discomfort to my fingertips. At the very end, after I already had my coat on because I thought he was done, he put some oil on my hands which was a mess as I was trying to leave. Finally, when I went to check out, they told me that I was being charged for a gel manicure, which I never asked for. This was very upsetting because I had read that gel manicures can be toxic. Ugh. I realize that putting any polish on your nails is not the best, but I absolutely did not want gel polish because of the damage it does to your nails and the exposure to chemicals. The person at the desk agreed to charge me only for a manicure, which I appreciated, but the whole experience was just terrible and I will never return. read more

Everyone was so nice and friendly! I came in around 6 on a saturday and they took me right away. I got a new job that I can't wear long nails to and this was first time having short nails. Julie did my nails and she got so excited over the hello kitty stickers on the thumbs lol. I didn't give 5 starts because the shape at the cuticles looks wonky, I'm sure if I gotten the cuticle trim it would have made them look nicer. These we're $67- I could have gotten long nails for this price. Rose is who I normally go to, and every-time I am blown away by her work. I have been coming to Noire at Southpoint regularly for several months now. Holly, the manager(?), is great for fitting me into the schedule with the same tech whenever possible. Will, my favorite tech, is timely, gentle, and very skilled. He knows my preferences and is always on point. Noire has a wide variety of colors and finishes, and a variety of polish/extension types. I have nail extensions which frequently broke with my old salon; now that I go to Noire, they've only had one or two breaks (that were admittedly my fault). On the rare occasion my nail does break, they get me in right away to fix it. They give a great pedicure, and I've found that it's worthwhile to pay a little bit more and travel a little farther for their superior services. Additionally, their customer service is great. They are accommodating, polite, and always happy to see their regular customers. I used to dread spending an hour or two at the salon, but at Noire they are friendly and kind! I had a great experience here. I went somewhere in chapel hill before and they did my nails HORRIBLY and charged me $80 for it. I came here for my acrylic fill in and not only did the nail tech do a great job, he did it in a little under an hour. I had William and I will definitely be requesting him again. I think it came out to $54 overall which I think included shortening the nails. I thought the price was worth the work he did... nail extensions are just expensive in general. read more

So I went here on Sunday the 22nd. It was fairly slow and I was able to sit down and get serviced almost immediately. A older man who had an a green striped polo shirt serviced me. He did a decent job overall I guess but while I was being serviced he filed and cut into the skin on my finger. I understand that things happen but he cut very deep and didn't bother to stop and check on me. He almost seem to blame it on me. He kept going with the service and didn't even look where he had cut me. I thought at first that he just filed it too close but he actually filed deep into my skin and cut it open. Also the job that he did with the acrylic was really messy. I didn't realize until I left because a lot of times we think it looks really good at first until we get home and take a closer look. I have been here one other time before and I had received good service. But I think it's important to find a nail tech and stick with that person because not everybody has the same level of service. I wish I would've spoken out while I was there because I paid $60 to get cut and have a messy job for a French acrylic full set. also I showed a coupon for five dollars off that was on the website so it would've been $65 without the coupon, and the cashier seemed like she didn't want to honor the coupon.
