A lot newer than the Fairfax campus.. they are also building a new auditorium type thing (similiar…read moreto the Patriot Center).. you can see it from the road.. it's HUGE (or look online at the map of GMU). This campus is cleaner, nicer. But it is smaller, and is often quiet and deserted on weekends. The library is usually empty on weekends. It's a good place to study. There's no public parking.. only temporary parking.. if you're gonna be there more than 1 or 2 hours.. you have to pay.

They show you the newest dorms and tell you that your kids gonna be in them, but they'll end up in the oldest.. 2. The school will tell you how safe their campus is with hundreds of cameras everywhere keeping them safe and protected. But when your daughter gets assaulted in the quad suddenly there's no footage of the assault and the star athlete that attacked her has zero consequences and the police reports disappear and they try to make it all go away and pretend that it didn't happen. this all happened years ago, but my daughter still has physical and mental trauma, including severe migraine. It'll probably last her the rest of her life and the university could care less the way we were treated was disgusting. we are reminded every day of the injustice that occurred on this campus when we see our daughter in pain almost a decade later. stay away from this corrupt institution

Vint Hill is located between Gainesville and Warrenton. It is an emerging destination for locals…read moreand visitors. Vint Hill is a historic place. The U.S. Army operated a cryptology school and an intelligence gathering station at the former sheep and cattle farm during World War II. After the war, the Army used Vint Hill for research and development. The Army discontinued use of the property in 1997. Vint Hill now is open to the public. It is a scenic spot that offers many things to do. For food and beverages, there currently is a brewery, a winery, speciality food shop, cafe serving lunch, and more... These places are all located close to the Cold War Museum. There is a public swimming pool open seasonally. The tiny base movie theater still shows movies. There is a popular dog park. There are a number of park areas that are great for jogging, walking, or just relaxing. At the edge of Vint Hill, is Lake Brittle where you can go fishing, or rent a boat (seasonally). There is also a snack bar here open seasonally. Unfortunately, the park areas and the lake both lack bathroom facilities beyond port-a-potties. There are a number of businesses located at Vint Hill and one church that I am aware of. A lot of land is available for development. I heard that an independent coffee shop is slated to open. That would be great. I only hope that development does not get out of hand and ruin the nature areas that exist here. There is already extensive housing on the backside of Vint Hill. Traffic is not a problem here at present. Fingers crossed that new development is not overwhelming and that no more trees are cut down. I stumbled on to this historic spot. There is a parking area in front of a pond. I spotted a deer…read morein the grass. After reading about the fort I headed down the short path. Saw to benches on the way. The path started to be covered with leaves and I saw one area is closed for wildlife. The other area ends in a leafy covered circle with benches. There was a camping tent in the middle that was not completely set up. No one was around. Was not clear if someone is staying in the tent or if it was just left there. There was no fort foundation to see. There is no bathroom here and it is near the highway and airport so small planes are low overhead and you can hear cars going by. The area needs some upkeep! Highlight of my visit was seeing the deer and a Bald Eagle.

Website: http://www.exploresouthernhistory.com/cannonbranchfort.html…read more Site's mission: "Preserve one of the few remaining portions of the Civil War fortifications built to protect the vital rail junction at Manassas, Virginia." Interpretation of history: "Cannon Branch Fort, a rectangular earthwork redoubt on the west side of Manassas, is thought to have been built by Federal troops. The other surviving earthwork, Mayfield Fort, was constructed by Confederates. Now preserved as part of an 11-acre historic site, the Civil War fort is one feature of a hill that has a long heritage. Overlooking Cannon Branch, a creek that flows into the Broad Run River, the hilltop was first occupied by Native Americans during the prehistoric era." How my visit went: My visit went good. Location: 10611 Gateway Blvd, Manassas, VA 20110. Fee: Free and open to the public. Who is the site for: The site is for anyone with an interest in old civil war forts. What makes up the site: The site is made up of the remain of an old fort and you can see exactly where the walls were. When did I go: I went on 4/30/17. Rating: I gave it a 2 out of 5 stars because it did hold a little bit of information on the fort but that was about it.
