This is a really nice library. I visited to get a library card. I haven't had a library card in YEARS. Anyhoo, the staff at this library were very friendly and helped me get my library card. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and there were so many people in the library studying, on the computer, and reading. They have ample books and media. Plenty of parking. read more

I really like this library. Very easy to use. My child loves it as well (they have the little toys there to keep her occupied). I usually put books on hold, then I go directly to the hold section to pick it up. The only thing I don't like is that they only put your last name and first initial. It would be helpful to put the entire name as many people have same last names. read more

This library offers excellent customer service and resources for digitizing photos and family memories. As you can see from the photo, I won the prize for a random "winter reading challenge" drawing. Whoever assembled that gift did a great job. I'll be working through all the snacks and movies for a while. :-) read more

Walking into this library is like walking into a giant warehouse filled with book shelves, tables, computers, and chairs. I say warehouse due to the area being spacious and roomy. This Fairfax library does have the nice exterior architecture and clean interiors. Most of these libraries have been around for quite sometime. You can tell they maintain good upkeep with it. Atmosphere is very quiet, you could hear a pin drop or a ninja moving at the speed of light due to the sounds of silence. Unfortunately, no private study rooms. They have a large quiet room with multiple booths where you can study but no areas of solitary confinement. Why Fairfax? Why!? read more

I have been going to this library for over ten years, so you could say I'm a steady customer. Long ago I learned the value of being able to take out up to 20 books, for FREE, before deciding whether I need to spend my hard-earned money to purchase one. The Fairfax County Library System is one of the finest examples of a library system in the country. Yep, that's the *whole* country, folks! Some people may not even realize how great it is, especially if you haven't lived elsewhere. The Centreville Library is on the older side, but they do their best to keep it clean. It's a bit dated but really, who cares? There are comfortable chairs to sink into, plenty of tables and nooks for studying, a "quiet room" for really serious studying, and a fairly large area for the little ones to peruse. There are meeting rooms available (three I believe, and they may be able to be partitioned) and there is always a running book sale where you can pick up used books for a very cheap price. A few times a year, they run a huge book sale where everything ranges from 50 cents to two dollars per book. For book lovers, this is equivalent to heaven. The librarians here are always helpful and pleasant. There is an abundance of Internet stations, as well as electronic catalog kiosks and "library-access only" database systems. These databases are really great for reviewing contractors, businesses, genealogy, etc. Consumer Reports and Angie's List online are available here for free. No need to pay an annual fee, just come to the library and look it up! There is also an electronic system you can access from home to reserve books, check up on the newest bestsellers and see if they are at the branch yet, pay your fines and renew your books. More recently, they have instituted an area for Korean language books and recordings, in order to keep up with demographic changes in Centreville. Wi-fi is also available, and covered drinks are allowed inside. Truly a great community resource! read more

I love the Centreville library for one big reason. Efficiency. There is an information desk if you need any help. Keeping information and check-out separate is very wise. Division of knowledge, man. They have computers set at 45 minutes for each user, which is understandable when it's busy. If it's not busy, your time is extended automatically. This system runs seamlessly. But my favorite thing of all is the email that comes three days before my book is due, stating that my book is due in three days, with title and due date. And THEN, I get another one on the due date. I'm terrible about returning library books on time, so this is a BIG PLUS! And yet....I still end up paying overdue fines anyway, because old habits never totally die. Oh well. read more

I love all Fairfax County Public Libraries. They were good to me. This library is special for its Korean language items, including translated texts of Japanese or English language books. It also seems to have a decent collection of PBS-type DVDs. And free wi-fi (wireless internet). read more

So far, no grinchy librarians, which is always a plus. After you come in from the funky doorway, behold the information desk with a kind face to answer your questions. You can tell this library has some years on it, it is clean, but looks outdated in not a good way. Maybe it just needs a mini-make over...some new shelves...new carpet...Fabreeze... The quiet study room, well, it's a little cramped, but my tush is quite happy with these padded seats. Location is great - right around the corner from several shopping strips. The only con there is that you would have to drive...unless you were feeling particularly suicidal one day after studying and wanted to cross the streets with all the cars flying by. There is a giant stuffed animal in the Children's Section behind me as I type this. Creep. Plenty of computer stations. There is a parking lot, uncovered, but does have an ample amount of space. I think I even saw a used book sale section up front. Unfortunately, it simply doesn't have that vibe of, "I want to grab a book and be here on a rainy day." read more

Always a solid choice when you need a quiet place to get some work done. They have many cubicles with installed lightings and outlets. I usually work better when I'm boxed in and cut away from any outside distractions. The level of quietness was not bad. There were some kids with high volumes here and there but hey...they're kids. However, I'm not sure if it's just me but as the time progresses, I feel like it kept getting colder and colder, especially an hour prior to closing. Plenty of parking space available. They even have a quiet room, but it was a bit too hot for me. Definitely a place that will get the job done. read more

This is a nice library, with helpful librarians, many seating options, and most of the books you'd want. If you can't find, chances are you can locate it in their catalog and place it on hold for pickup there. They have a bunch of self-checkout kiosks that allow for a quick transaction. I've never had to wait in line for one of them. There are a smattering of couches, tables, and study cubicles spread out around the building. It makes for a nice place to escape the heat in the summer and enjoy a good book. It's pretty full these days now that the kids are out of school. I saw some reading lists at the info desk and I'm curious what middle schoolers are required to read these days. Same as what I did? I'll have to take a peek next time I'm there. read more

Came here for a second time to give it another try. I'm studying for my boards and just need a quiet place to studying...you would think a library but no. Kids constantly yelling which I can at least block out but the people's phones going off and then them just having conversations on the phone for 10 mins at time. There needs to be study rooms or quiet areas. Or maybe the librarians could actually say something to these people. Like I said it's my second time and still no improvement. I used to work at a library through college and it's surprising how college kids act better in a library. read more

We have just moved to Gainesville, VA and have adopted the Centreville Library as a great library to go to. Most our authors are on the shelves, the staff could not be more pleasant and when I do research there is always someone there to help you. I Love this library. It is always very clean and organized. The people who work behind the information desk and the check out counter are always so so nice and helpful. I've been going here since it opened and actually since it was in the old location under the post office by Trader Joe's. It is a beautiful library with lots of space to study and read and great "quiet areas". read more

I love this library! It's small but surprisingly filled with lots of treasures. I always find great reads. New books are everywhere. I have lived places with libraries twice the size of this library but all of the hot books were on extremely long wait list. The staff here is always friendly and helpful too. This Site is in centreville. This is a public library. There is no fee. It does have some history. I go there very often to study. I have also volunteered in the library. The staff is very nice and very helpful. Centreville has had a public library since May 4, 1970, when the original library opened in a lower-level storefront at the Newgate shopping center. The area is known for its rich Civil War history as well as its dairy farms. The library's present site is on the grounds of the DeBell farm, one of the area's last dairy farms. The DeBell farmhouse was relocated off New Braddock Road behind the Centreville Methodist Church where it remains as a local historical landmark. read more
