My family and I went on a road trip across Texas to hike in Big Bend and stopped halfway down and…read morethen again halfway back. We wanted to stay in unique places and I feel so incredibly lucky that I saw this place!! The entire experience started off so nicely when Kim (one of the owners) called us the day we were arriving to ask about our arrival time so her or her husband Mark could be there to welcome us, and she also offered to make us an early continental breakfast since we were leaving before 8am the next day. It was so kind, but we declined because we were good to grab food on the road so we could get home. But that level of customer service and genuine kindness was a perfect example of our stay! Mark met us and gave us a tour of the BEAUTIFUL house, told us about the history, showed us historical photos they got from the granddaughter of the man who first built it. He offered us wine and coffee and the best banana bread I've ever had (seriously I need to email them for the recipe), and he even let us meet his puppy which made my daughter so happy! The house itself is incredible. Mark and Kim did an impossible task renovating it from abandoned nightmare to a breathtaking home that feels luxurious and so special. It really would be perfect for a small family celebration or wedding! Our favorite parts were the atrium in the center of the house that still had the 100+ year old birds of paradise plants that the original owner brought there from Guatemala, and the fact that their beautiful Christmas decorations were still up. We were extra lucky to be the only people staying there, so we really had the run of the house and got to hang out in their gorgeous living room to enjoy the Christmas decor and watch a movie together on our tablet. Everything was clean, the beds were so comfy, the amenities were awesome, the owners are SO SWEET, and Mulberry Manor is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. We've been home a few days and my daughter is still talking about it! If you get the chance, I cannot recommend it enough!

Mulberry Manor was the most charming B&B we have ever stayed in! I am so glad we found this gem…read moreonline! I felt like I had stepped back in time! The décor was absolutely gorgeous! Kim and Mark have done a wonderful job bringing this magnificent house back to life again! Love it!

The Good: The biscuits and gravy, good as always at HIEs…read more The Bad: A/C did not work (set to 60, room temp 74) and sounded like a horror movie sound effect (see video). Moronic hanging of the shower curtain. Old, cracked caulk around tub fixtures. All stairwells filthy. Burnt edges on all omelettes. Too-cheap-tasting orange juice. The Verdict: Why would Holiday Inn Express allow this location to represent their brand?

This place should not be called a holiday inn. It was awful. The help was very sweet. The lobby was…read moremostly ok. But when you turned the corner to go to the elevator, it smelled overwhelmingly of fecal matter some how. Luckily, a trip up the broken floored elevator didn't smell. The room was ok- tiny tv, old and scratched- wheezing ac unit, and sheets that looked like they hadn't been washed properly. It was not good. Our total bill for ONE NIGHT was over $200 after taxes. Insane. This is about an $80/night hotel. Max. Should be labeled a best western or red roof. Not on the IHG par. Stained, unkempt, smelly, and broken. Front doors of the hotel didn't even work. The lobby lady was lovely. I worry about her. The lights in the parking lot didn't work. Not one. There were tiny bugs here and there in the room, on the coffee maker - not an infestation- nothing I would have thought about if it was a good hotel. But this was just ridiculous. 1.5 stars, because I did get a good nights sleep.
