History
Established in 2021.
The Nome Schoolhouse, built in 1916 in Nome, North Dakota, served as a cornerstone of education and community until its closure in 1970 due to declining regional population. Rediscovered in 2018 by Teresa Perleberg and Chris Armbrust of Shepherd Industries, the schoolhouse underwent an extensive three-year restoration. Reopened in 2021, it now thrives as a multifaceted hub: a Fiber Arts Retreat Center, Event Center, Boutique Hotel, and fiber mill. Celebrating wool and fiber arts, it offers classes, workshops, and a store selling locally sourced wool products. This historic gem blends old-world charm with modern amenities, providing a unique venue for events and a creative haven where visitors can explore and immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of fiber arts.
