Cons: Low quality all round. Rooms tired and grotty ( not cleaned properly on arrival/ window broken). Attitude of staff on reception poor, I was told when complaining that I was lucky to have a room. Guest on same floor had told us they had seen mice in their room as they were leaving. I even offered to pay whatever I needed to at reception to get a better room, again staff didn't care. The clientele at this hotel was low quality, smell of weed several times outside and in. screaming children and adults. Walls paper thin. Bed small and uncomfortable, plus it looked as though a toddler had made it, me and my partner had to remake it. Pros: Staff generally nice ( apart from the previously mentioned woman on reception). Breakfast was nice. When the room above ours started doing star jumps and screaming at each other at 4 in the morning, security promptly went and shut them up after I complained. I would like to point out that night staff are different, as I'm sure the day woman on reception would have told me I was making it up. Conclusion 1/5. Do not stay here. All interior is tired, not old although it is, I mean broken, damaged, dirty, worn. Im quite laid back so enjoyed my stay, couple of beers and a TV on a night and I'm happy. If your a light sleeper, have a bad back ( like my partner), expecting a clean room with functional window. Then you probably won't be happy. read more

We recently stayed for a Elvis festival.we arrived on the Fri the lift wasn't working and we had heavy cases so we asked to be moved to another room.there was 3 of us we unpacked the room was dated the windows were very dirty the decor was well dated.it was very basic later on on the Fri evening we had a leek I say a leek it was like a tap water coming through bedroom ceiling my case was open bang under the leek so some of my clothes got wet my shoes also got wet through.we complained to reception they did nothing I was fuming to say the least we was offered yet another room which we moved into had 4 single beds in it you couldn't even swing a cat in there but the hotel was full so had to grin and bare it. It was my 1st time staying at the hotel and its definitely my last never again.on a plus the food was really nice couldn't fault it. read more

The hotel probably had its days of glory in the past but is quite dated now, especially for world travelers who have been to over 100 countries in the world. The bed in my room is not comfortable at all, but since I have been to many developing countries and slept on many hard sleeper beds on overnight trains I could tolerate the bed here. There is no hook in the bathroom at all, so I had no place to hang my towel or my clothes when I shower. I don't know how much do regular guests pay for their rooms but the room rate for the event that I am paying is quite inexpensive as it includes breakfast and dinner, so I can't complain as they are not charging international hotels' rates. The 3-course event dinner was ok, and the hot roast beef did not taste like a typical roast beef that I was expecting. read more

I did not stay there, but spend 3 days trapped in that hotel attending a convention. The carpets smelled and the food in the restaurant was unbearable. It tasted stale. In general the hotel could do with a proper clean. The reception staff and restaurant staff seemed to disagree on certain topics what made me feel really uncomfortable. The kitchen personell and waiters were nice and accommodating. I heard stories where customers were given keys to rooms even people already occupied these rooms. There has been some real unpleasant encounters. Some single lady travelers had to deadlock their doors to feel safe. The reception staff was not very helpful when they received complaints. It seems that the exterior and interior of the hotel is quite outdated and I'm sure once upon a time it was considered modern and trendy. What I liked was the coffee , but the queues were long. Not much choice for little snacks. I recommend that the bar should start doing coffee too to speed up the queues. The hall for the convention had no flair, but was large enough to hold a massive amount of people. The hotel is conveniently located along the seafront tram line and very close to the beach. We didn't even stay the night!!! In total we spent half an hour in this hotel long enough to check in, go back to reception and get a door card that works, find dirty bedding, dirty cups in the room, realise the curtains weren't big enough to actually cover the drafty window, compare the hotel to a youth hostel and realise we would prefer the youth hostel and finally find somewhere else to stay on laterooms On a positive side we did get a full refund read more

It's been a couple of years since I was last in the Norbreck, but since I've stayed in it 3 times now I feel qualified to review! Every experience I've had of this hotel has been great. I usually wind up here due to my mum's 20 year obsession with Caledonian Travel's package holidays (they are really cheap, though), and this is the hotel that always comes up in the brochure. We stayed in Norbreck Castle in 2001 and it was excellent. We were very impressed with the service in the massive brasserie and the staff made sure our stay went absolutely swimmingly. We enjoyed our jaunt back to Norbreck in 2004, although that year there was a wee spot of rennovation going on. It didn't interfere too much with the service however, and it was still enjoyable. The last time I was in Norbreck Castle was 2008 and it was as good as ever. With affordable rates, great amenities, a spacious, airy bar overlooking the seafront, secluded pool tables, a swimming pool, and arcade machine, clean rooms and friendly staff, we had no complains. The brasserie wasn't quite as good as our first year, but it was still yummy. The breakfasts are great and as I recall, pretty hearty. There's a good atmosphere in this hotel and despite its vast size, it's rather cosy. Don't be deterred by the look of the block from the outside, as inside the rooms are a fair size and always fresh. It's got some seriously cheesy entertainment but it's admittedly awesome to watch some of the magic acts and other such live shows. They're the reason the great British Seaside resort holidays are still so popular, and Norbreck Castle certainly maintains the good standard of many Blackpool hotels. read more

Oh dear lord this place is the worst hotel I've ever, ever stayed in, FACT. Here is why: 1) There was a bunched up pair of y-fronts stuffed behind my curtain 2) My bedcover had crunchy stains on it 3) The entertainment in the afternoon was a drunk clown who played the keyboard 4) There were four separate ice cream tubs in the corridor to my room to catch drips in from the leaky roof 5) I saw a waitress breathe on a knife and polish it on her trousers 6) IT LOOKS LIKE A PRISON The end. Seriously avoid this hotel..... it's a shambles. It's in serious need of an upgrade. Looking past the deterioration, it's a stunning, large building. If they actually spent some money on it, it would be a beautiful place. However........ the rooms although mostly large have paper thin walls. Most rooms have some form of damp/mould in them, bed linen isn't always clean, a friend found a stuck half eaten lollipop on the side of her wardrobe! Food - well, this is well....... just ugh. Buffet style which leads to no end of cross contamination if you have food intolerances. The only good thing - cheap bar! The entertainment is cheesy! Nice views of the seafront. Most staff are friendly. I've stayed here so many times since around 2000 but only for events being held in the hotel. it may have had the odd lick of paint over the years, and I think a carpet has been replaced here and there, but on the whole it's horrid. Do yourself a favour and book yourself into one of the many B&B's along the seafront. Much better! read more

The hotel is just next to the beach you just have to cross the street. the rooms are tidy and nice through some of them are a bit tiny. The breakfast is excellent. The hotel got 3 bars and there are also some shows for kids and for adults. It s easy to get there by tramway. read more

I go to this huge venue on the North Promenade between Bispham and Cleveleys for the excellent Spindles Health Club situated towards the rear. Open 7am til 10pm 7 days a week, it offers all the facilities one could imagine. I can recommend the swimming pool (with a lane for serious swimmers), jacuzzi and steam room (there is also a sauna, gym, and sun area). Can't comment on the rooms, as I have never needed to stay here before (living locally), but there are certainly plenty to choose from. read more

Holiday From Hell !! I have never stayed at a hotel anything like this. The toast for Breakfast had green mold on it - when we pointed this out, they didn't even remove it!! The room was damp, dirty, cold - no central heating. We complained several times and the response was 'What do you want us to do about it'. The bathroom was dirty, with used toilet paper screwed up on the floor. The bed sheets were dirty, with stains on, and the carpet was filthy. I recommend you try ANY hotel but this one - It couldn't be anywhere near as bad !!!! read more

This Seafront hotel is huge (500 rooms) and very old. A throwback to Blackpool's glory days it is now very faded and worn, but it is also very reasonably priced. I booked 2 rooms and got a weekend rate of £50 per room including breakfast. The rooms were both decent sized and one had a huge bathroom. I discovered that there was a free Wi-Fi connection that I could pick up in the room. The best part of the hotel is that it still has a very decent pool / Gym / Spa club that is free for hotel guests. The pool is at least 30 metres long and has a 6 seater Hot-Tub Jacuzzi. A good sized Sauna and Steam-Room and a well equipped Gym. The included Breakfast buffet was definately Quantity over Quality with very dodgy bacon & Sausages, but if you stick to Coffee Toast and Cereal you won't have a problem. The Hotel is located in bispham which is a long way North of the Blackpool main attractions, but it is only about 15 mins on a tram to the North Pier or Tower. The service I received from the staff was polite and helpful, and I would stay here anytime. read more

Disgraceful place to stay in. They charged me TWICE for a start!! The room was like a prison cell! I had to stand on the bed to see myself in the mirror. The shower was cold and wouldn't turn off. The staff were unbelievably rude. I burnt my hand on a plate and the chef said 'read the notice love!' When the notice wasn't even near the plates, a child could have picked up the plate without being able to read! We got a taxi into the town and even the taxi driver (from the taxi company the hotel even linked with) said what a load of crap this place is! The website says its a 'short 10 min walk' to the town, which is a huge lie! I have stayed in hostels that have better rooms and service than this place! I wouldn't be coming back again!!! read more

Stayed there for 3 days, the cups were dirty, the windows wouldn't shut properly, the bathroom door handle was hanging off and there were marks all over the walls as well as a big hole in it behind the door. The building is beautiful if they just spend the money to have it cleaned up a bit. read more

I have stayed at the Norbreck 15 times. It has a selection of rooms from the budget to very nice executive suits. It has a relaxed atmosphere, great food and a nice spa leisure centre. The staff are always helpful a it is ideal for families. If you are very fussy it's not for you, but is excellent value. Tip for a cheap short break book the morning you go, as it is huge they are rarely fully booked apart from August. I have had B+B from as cheap as £28 per night for a family of 3. With a Tram and Bus stops right outside the hotel it has excellent transport to Blackpool or the sea wall walk is nice, at 5 miles it's 2 hours to the Tower. Bingo and cabaret every night and children's entertainment. read more

Stayed in this hotel for a turkey and tinsel week. Was a brilliant holiday with great views over the sea. The meals were great, and the staff were very friendly and couldnt do more to help. I would definately stay here again! I see people have complained about being far from the town. However there is a bus stop right outside the hotel on both sides of the road, one side takes you straight into town and drops you at BHS and the other drops you off at a seaside town, and further down a market town and outlet centre. You can get a bus ticket for all day for £3.50 which allows you to hop on and off as many buses as you like all day. The rooms are old but it is several hundred years old! (if wikipedia is correct!) My room was comfy, spacious and warm. I had a couple of problems with my room, which was no-ones fault just one of those things and each time the staff fixed it within an hour. Including putting a new lock on my door. I was very impressed! I was also very impressed with the waitress service in the restuarant, as after the second day the waitress remembered we normally had water with our meal and had a jug of water waiting for us when we came down for dinner. This was great service and it helped make the holiday tht bit more special. My only complaints were a few little niggles- Only one elevator which could only fit 4 people in at a time with cases. So trying to get a coach load ot two of people to and from their rooms for check in/out was a bit of a nightmare, and after over a half hour wait for it, I had to drag my case down from the forth floor. The other niggle was a few things with the room, the walls being old are so paper thin I could stand anywhere in my room and have a conversation with people in the room next room and hear them clearly through the wall. This also kept me awake all night as I could hear the people above and opposite me clearly. Apart from these few little niggles everything else was fine:) read more

It's not great, we're only here as part of an organised weekend. Rooms pretty shabby, food avaerage at best. The place is tired inside and out. Lots of parking though. Paper thin walls between rooms means you hear every bowel movement, bathrooms just not clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. we have stayed here several times in the last few years and cant speak highly enough about it.Having stayed in various parts of the hotel and never had a problem .When reporting aproblem to the staff it has been dealt with .Itravel a lot in my job and have stayed there with colleagues who love the place,and they are southerners who like to whinge .They loved the breakfast. read more
