I am extremely disappointed with the ongoing lack of reliability at NorCal Imaging. This is the fourth time -- across different procedures, including MRI and CT -- that my appointment has been cancelled at the last minute without any prior notice. Each time, I only learned of the cancellation after arriving at the office. This morning was no exception. I had taken time off work and completed the required fasting, only to be told at check‑in that the appointment had been cancelled. The disruption is significant, and the lack of communication is unacceptable. After the third cancellation, I emailed the office to express how difficult and costly these last‑minute surprises have been. No one ever responded. I have continued using this facility because the copay is lower than at hospital‑affiliated outpatient centers, but the repeated failures in communication and scheduling have made it clear that reliability is not a priority here. At this point, I would rather pay a higher copay elsewhere than continue dealing with an operation that shows so little regard for patients' time and preparation. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision. read more

The way this imaging place bills for services is honestly disturbing. Even when they have your insurance info, they don't bother to verify what your insurance actually pays until after you've already paid a given amount upfront and gotten the service. Meaning that if you overpay, it will be on you to sort it out with their billing office and your insurance. I've never encountered this kind of billing process before and found it to be really unprofessional and very stressful/frustrating. Luckily I have the ability to call my insurer beforehand to get clarity on what exactly the co-insurance amount would be, but for most people, this wouldn't be the case. As a result, an already stressful experience (because who gets a scan for any reason other than something might be wrong/abnormal internally?) becomes more of a headache/pain and for no good reason. Poor care and confusing processes complicating an already broken system, meaning those with the most needs struggle even more to get the services they need. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars and not one is because the actual imaging process was fine and the technician was good. But the front desk staff/the office staff sure could use more work/customer service skills, not to mention have a little more empathy for their patients. Imagine if it were you or a loved one in the same position - would you want to be treated as callously? A little kindness goes a long way. Do better. read more

NorCal Imaging Fremont cost me a $15,000 surgery - do NOT schedule here! My doctor submitted an MRI order 12/3/2025, and upon NorCal's request, the clinic notes on Friday, 12/5/2025. I called NorCal Fremont Monday a.m. to ask if they had everything they needed to request authorization from my insurance company. Yes, I was told, they did. I mentioned the MRI was needed asap as my surgeon was trying to squeeze me in for a surgery 12/30/25, as I'd met my deductible for this year and next year it was rising to $9,000. I was told they'd get right on it. Thursday a.m., I called to check the status of my authorization. The gentlemen I spoke with put me on hold... for 10 minutes. I finally hung up, intending to call back, but he called me back 1st. He said the authorization request hadn't been submitted yet! So, it had been sitting there for *four days,* when every day counted against my getting my surgery. Not only did they not submit the authorization as soon as they could, they'd dropped the ball entirely and who knows when - or if - they would have processed it if I hadn't called to follow up. The timing was tight because the MRI was required before I could schedule a pre-op appt. with my doctor which was required before they'd put me on the list for the surgery, so every day of delay could result in someone else being scheduled for that remaining surgery slot. So, with the intervening weekend, I am now a week behind where I should have been had NorCal not dropped the ball. And it is looking unlikely that I will get my surgery now, as $9,000 deductible + however much I am responsible for the remaining cost is more than ai can afford. If getting treatment in a timely manner is important to you, schedule elsewhere. read more

The billing is horrible. Beware if you go there and you ask them to check your insurance on what your payment is going to be, they give you an amount. Tell you you are paid in full and then balance bill you for a higher amount. When I called them to question the amount they were billing me they told me that they would take care of it but instead they sent me to collections beware Do not trust them, I would go somewhere else and I will never step foot in that office again. read more

They are impossible to reach on phone. It rings and rings. When you finally get an appointment the place in Walnut Creek was great. Very professional. It was far for me but they were the only branch that answered so I went there. I had to get a special mammogram so I was still laying on the table and the doctor came in and told me all was well. I can see why the low reviews. The lobby area is busy and full, often standing room only. The front desk staff is not friendly or very helpful, agitated if you ask questions. I am still waiting for my results from a week and half ago. Very hard to get through on the phone and the patient portal is just routing me back to talk to someone live instead of answering questions online. They were supposed to have my former mammogram results in before my visit which is why they scheduled me several weeks out, however when i got there they didn't have them and would not be comparing results to seek out areas of concern. read more

Tried calling to make an appointment was on the line for more than an hour no one answered the phone line to make an appointment.

Had to get a CT scan w/contrast performed, so looked around at all the different places I could get it done. Ended up choosing NorCal imaging and I'm really glad I did. Was put with "Rick" who prepped me and performed my CT scan. He explained what would take place, how long it would take, what it may feel like and if I had any questions. His bedside manner, upbeat attitude and way he was carrying things out put me at ease that things would go well. Seemed like he'd performed 100+ of these and there was nothing to worry about. By the time I knew it I was all done, thanks Rick! Much appreciated. Nobody's getting a CT scan done for any fun reasons but Rick did make me feel alot better going through the process. This is a convenient place , where you can drop in for X ray. For others like DEXA, it doesn't require appt. The receptionist are easy to work with, esp. Jake. He is so supportive, patient and sweet! I had an awful experience with this facility. I showed up and waited in line to ask a question regarding accessing an x-ray because they had a sign up indicating they were not doing x-rays today. I wanted to know where else I could go, and if I could take my requisition with me and go elsewhere. I was at the front of the line, but they kept calling people from behind me. I waited nearly 30 minutes completely frustrated while they attended to many people behind me, even though I had been waiting for an extended period at the very front of the line. Finally, in complete frustration. I called them while I was standing in line to see if I could actually get an answer that way. It rang a long time, and someone briefly told me to hold. They never returned to my call or called me to the desk. l had been standing in line nearly 30 minutes and waiting on the phone for 12 minutes with no response or follow up. So I stepped forward to the window and communicated to the receptionist that I had been waiting this whole time, as he well knew and told him I simply had a question. He answered the question but did not apologize for the delay or the situation. I have knee pain and need an x-ray and standing for so long waiting was painful. Yes, staff is hard to reach especially when you follow the prompts to "schedule an appt." Personally I pushed 0 and got connected within 5-10 minutes instead of following the prompts to schedule an appt. Staff is very friendly, kind and accommodating. Daniel is amazing and helped me out with a in inconvenience from my doctors office. I did have a bit of a wait for my appointment however another tech called out and was seen about 15 minutes after my appointment. My next appointment took much longer than expected and this was a good thing because everything was thoroughly checked and ensured I received the proper assistance. Overall great location read more

As other reviewers mentioned, no one answers the phone when you press #2 for scheduling. Another time, I pressed #0 in hopes someone would answer. And someone did, only to say, "I'll transfer you to scheduling." Thanks for nothing! I have been to this office many times and have never really had a bad experience with the staff or technicians. I waited more than an hour for my sons X-ray. A very tall lady tried to demand my kids to wait outside while I stood in line to check in. I declined. I'm not sending my kids to wait outside without me. Ridiculous. I left and came back the next day. I was the first person there at 8:30 to check in for an X-RAY, and had to wait an hour to get it? They should really take appointments. Their walk-in situation is a joke. I was assisted by two different front desk clerks. Both did not give me eye contact and were very rude. A spanish speaking man was asking for help and a lady was rude to him and told him to get in line and wait for the Spanish speaking clerk. The next day, they allowed a lady to wait inside for an X ray but the manager told me and the kids to wait in my car. I asked for a patient experience card to fill out and the clerk told me they don't do that anymore. Confusing, because there are signs inside the place that say they have them and they care about what their patients have to say. A lady came inside without a mask on. I heard a clerk tell her to go to the window to get a mask very rudely. She didn't say please or ask her to put one on. She just said "go get a mask." At one point I counted 11 people inside the office. They were very inconsistent with their enforcement of "social distancing in the waiting room." It was discriminating that they only asked us to step outside. The workers seem very unhappy here. Wish I could get services from a different location. read more

ZERO Stars - Receptionist and Scheduling TLDR - Arrived 30 minutes early for an appointment, and was told that I can't be seen as it was DOUBLE BOOKED. This was a follow up appointment that was needed. I called before leaving to confirm that I have an appointment, and was told that the appointment is confirmed! - The reception mentioned she is CHANGING my order based on what she see on the 'notes' and got her manager approval. I asked her if she saw my doctor's order, and she said yes, but still she will be changing it based on the 'notes'. I asked my doctor care coordinator when I came home, and she said this is UNACCEPTABLE. If the receptionist reads the radiologist recommendation, the original order is correct. - I asked the receptionist if she knows there are other locations with earlier appointment, and she said Pleasanton has availability on later this week or next week. I called Pleasanton location, and the earliest is next month. It is a waste of time and effort. read more

I finally made an appointment for 2 weeks out for a 9am ultrasound. Mine you, they required me to be there 30mins before. These idiots called me at 8:06am on the day of to tell me they needed to reschedule and I needed call them. I'm not waiting another 45mins for them to finish picking noses. How unprofessional! They obviously don't care about my time. They should have called the day before not at the 11th hour to tell me they needed to reschedule without any explanation. Went amazing I had an xray done and everything was great. I had Alex doing my xray, he was very nice made me feel comfortable and was very patient with me and my issues, I have gotten xrays before at other places and was scared to come here based on past reviews! But I would and will come back if I have to get any more imaging done. He really listens to the problems I had and went out of his way to make me feel better and accommodate for my issues. They do have a small waiting room and it is pretty warm inside so be prepared for that, but if you are getting xrays done and you get Alex then you will have no worries. read more

What happened to this NorCal site? I called and made an appointment the Saturday before Labor Day. That morning, 30 minutes before my appointment, I get a call cancelling my Appt. because the tech decided not to come in so that she could take a 3 day weekend. Then I scheduled another appointment for the next Saturday. 30 mins before that appt. I got a call cancelling this appt because apparently the tech was having car problems and wasn't coming in. Did she ever hear about taking Uber? So I rescheduled for a third time and it was on the next Monday at 4pm. It was so crowded, that there was no place to sit. Once I was called in, the tech was rushing me and extremely rough on my Mammogram. You don't need someone to be so rough on your body, especially for a mammogram. The turn over in techs here is way high, someone new every year. Not a good experience to say the least! read more

Easy booking, the wait is never too long, the staff is always professional and they provide you with a personal login to access your imaging through their portal which is helpful if you need to share it with your physician. Location: this is in the back of the building. Drive all the way around the building until you see the giant NorCal imaging sign (facing BART). There is plenty of parking. The receptionists were nice and friendly. The waiting room is small - just 3 chairs for now due to COVID protocol. It's a bit stuffy inside. I felt kind of nervous at times about air circulation. You can't make appointments for X-rays, so I went in on 2pm on a weekday. I finished in about 45 minutes. The actual X-ray took 5 minutes. Quick and easy ! read more

I used to say nice things about this place but as I enter hour 2 of standing in the lobby I simply can no longer make excuses. I imagine the problems fall on the shoulders of "corporate policy" as all members of the staff are delightful but the inability to make an appointment for an X-ray causes great inconvenience and frustration. I, as well as the other 6 people waiting, have jobs, kids, lives and this "walk in" only policy is, quite frankly, bs. How could you not know there's no tech available? I made this appointment weeks ago. All the receptionist said was it's not her fault. Well it's somebody's fault. I took the MRI for my auto accident more than two weeks ago, but this stupid lazy people still have not contact my provider. My provider also sent them numerous emails, but no reply yet.
