Rude, horrible front desk people. Short, quick and hateful. I had to reschedule because I woke up sick on day of appointment. I offered to pay the fee. They refused to reschedule and refused to let me pay the fee. She said, "we don't want you to get us sick." No kidding. Thats why I am forced to reschedule. The appointments are weeks out, so why can't I reschedule. But no. Just no. Really? Do they think they are the only place to go? I'll spend my money elsewhere. Who lets a demon run their front desk? I had tried two other MRI facilities that claimed to have 'open' MRI machines. IF you are claustrophobic, having your face an inch from the inside of a tunnel is not pleasant. The staff and tech at East Bay Upright MRI were helpful, organized, on time, bi lingual, kind and efficient. I was told I would need to bill my insurance myself and pay upfront, and I was fine with that because they were clear about it from the start. The MRI took half an hour, with me in a comfortable seated position, watching a TV in front of me showing lovely underwater scenes. I was in no way "entombed" as in other MRI machines. I was provided with a CD to carry to my doctors within 10 minutes of finishing the MRI. I will recommend East Bay Upright MRI to anyone. read more

The worst feeling ever is not knowing if something is wrong and calling an establishment for someone on the other end of the phone accuse you of proving the wrong info to then talking down to you. This place has the most unprofessional staff I have ever encountered. The receptionist hung up the phone in my face. The other receptionist was overheard arguing with someone on the phone. They gossip about the clients business such as: she is the lady with the funny boyfriend or someone using Medicare. We talk about diversity and equity but it is okay for people to make fun of others who can't afford:have access to medical insurance. Shame on them. I refuse to ever come back. We came for a thoracic and lumbar MRI for my Mom, who is extremely claustrophobic, is dealing with immense back pain, is weak, immobile, etc. When I called to book, we were able to get in the very next day (other open MRI facilities were booking out 3-4 weeks). When we arrived, reception let my mom stay in the car where she is comfortable until everything was ready. Then Aaron, our MRI technician, came out to get us, and went 200% above and beyond to help with different positions with pillows, foam supports, etc to keep her comfortable with her pain, accommodate her disabilities and claustrophobia. He also took the time to to do an initial scan to ensure we were getting the best pictures possible. Then check out/paperwork with the manager was so kind, joyful and sweet. I was going to have to wait in pain for the next available MRI appointment 10/9/2023 and that is them expediting, checking to see if a technician can come in and accommodate me. I also called other MRI that they suggested next appointment for those facilities are November and December that's crazy! I've already been in pain for more then 3 weeks. My husband called for me just to ask and they said as soon as the next business day. But I also had to do my part with the guidance of Charisse. Once I got the referral from my doctors office sent to her and IMP # transferred from my doctor to East Bay Upright MRI. It was smooth sailing MRI is done today! They gave me the CD for my doctor to download (already done) and will send my report with in 48-72 not including weekends. Yes, I'm claustrophobic. Yes, it's an open MRI machine my 1st time and better then another MRI I had inclosed MRI machine. Yes, it still loud sounds and feels like big washer machine. But the tech gave me ear plugs, made sure I was okay, explained the process. Yes, I still had to lay down on my back uncomfortable after awhile, but not as bad as my knee pain. Yes, if felt like forever inside the machine but it was getting done so thankful to this team! Yes, the lobby might be outdated but it doesn't matter! What does matter is availability, accommodating, the care and service received! Getting it done! One step closer to getting out of pain! This place is amazing! I have major claustrophobia and an incredibly hard time with MRI's. I've even done an Open MRI, and it was still awful and I was very claustrophobic. I've been here twice, and once for my back, I could sit upright and watch TV and have my husband in the room. It was great. The other time, for my pelvis, I had to lay back flat, but it was still okay because it was all open above me and in front and behind, so I didn't feel as claustrophobic. It's as good as it gets for an MRI! Staff is nice. Scheduling can be difficult with dealing with insurance approvals, etc. sometimes, but I will never go anywhere else, that's for sure! This is my go-to MRI spot, and I am so thankful for them. read more

The tech was very kind and did a great job. The front staff was borderline rude, which I would have tolerated if the music in the waiting room wasn't completely vulgar. F word in pretty much every song, let me f you baby, b's and hoes will f you - unbelievable that any company that deals with the public would think this is anywhere near acceptable. This place is convenient to get to, feels old and dirty. I'm Claustrophobic and needed this machine. I had a cspine/neck and shoulder scheduled, I only completed the cspine portion. To do shoulder was literally impossible. I was told to sit and then twist my injured body sideways so my shoulder is touching the machine. And sit like this for 39 minutes, was physically impossible to do. I'm frustrated with the lack of open mris I'm the Bay Area "approved" by the failed Workman's Comp system is a travesty. Tech was nice but brushed his hands over my breasts to secure the weird contraption on my shoulder. I put my hands over my girls to avoid this again. I don't believe It wasn't intentional but he wasn't "aware" of his movements, either. If you suffer from Claustrophobia, and have a neck study this place is great. Any other body part would be impossible. That's why the mark is a three, place has limitations. read more

I sadly had the same experience as Lee J. My neurologist ordered my MRI on Oct 18, 2017 as I have had severe electric burning in my skull over three years. After alot of very inept communications and lack of communication by this facility, I finally got an appointment in early Feb 2018. When the day came, since it was a long drive and with all the history, I decided to phone and confirm the appointment prior to leaving the house only to find they had forgot to write me on the schedule. I finally was seen on Feb 21, 2018, FIVE MONTHS after my referral. Zero stars for the office management. FIVE stars to the radiologist there who is the only medical professional in this chronic illness nightmare who had the kindness to say he hopes I feel better soon. read more

After searching for an in network blue shield upright mri place I found them. The only other up right mri place is vsion something in san jose. But they are out of network. Pamf and blue shield were little help. The staff was very nice. It was much less noisy and faster than the usual lying down mri. Really saved my bacon. read more

I was having a knee problem which prevented me from laying straight for regular MRI. So made my appt here. The technician was a very kind person and did a good job. But then he explained that they were unable to produce a disk for me to take to my dr. But would send him a report and the disk would follow in about a week. That was 6 weeks ago, several phone calls and promises to mail me the disk...I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING AND NEITHER HAS MY DR...I cannot get treatment until my dr gets the disk to review...how can I continue to put up with this???? Do you want the most accurate MRI diagnosis? You can lie down in a tube and completely relax your spine and body but that's not how you spend your life. Oh, you mean you actually sit or stand most of your waking hours? Well then the logical MRI should be taken in these same positions to mimic reality. Came here for an appointment we've been waiting 2 weeks for and before the door behind us even fully closed, they told us to leave?? I had called them THE DAY BEFORE to confirm our appointment, and today they said they tried to reach us by phone "multiple times" to let us know they're moving our scan date and guess what, it was the wrong number! If I hadn't taken my niece (who usually uses public transportation to get to and from appointments) today she probably would have been stranded. Now why the hell would I trust ANY medical office that would allow that to happen AND call the wrong number (multiple times)?! If an MA from my hospital made that mistake theyd be be gone pont blank period. Absolutely disappointing seeing offices run this poorly- I wouldn't wanna be a worker or a patient. Unfortunately my niece didn't want me to make a bigger deal out of it and I respect her decisions but seriously dont let people you care about come here. Best experience to say the least. The staff that I had the pleasure of meeting...aka Charisse and John, are some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. They treat you like family, but they're also just as professional and very good at what they do. It's stressful enough having a serious medical condition and nerve wracking not knowing what the MRI results will be. But their kindness was just what I needed to feel comfortable and well taken care of. So thank you Charisse and John. I walked out of East Bay Upright MRI with a smile on my face. You'll never have an issue trying to reach them on the phone, nor have an issue scheduling an appointment. When you walk in, they treat you with so much kindness and respect. Everything there was very clean and tidy. They also wore their masks, which made me feel comfortable during this pandemic. The MRI machine was very comfortable, and perfect for anyone with claustrophobia. There's a TV screen in front of you in case you want to watch TV during your MRI. John gave me the images on a CD the same day as my MRI appointment, and I received the report only a couple days later. I've gotten many MRI scans laying down, which has never showed the severity of my condition. The upright MRI was just what was needed to properly diagnose, and give a clear picture for my doctor. Now that I have gotten my imaging done at East Bay Upright MRI, I'm able to get the proper medical care from my doctor and soon get back to normal life. On another note... from personal experience, If anyone ever has an issue with your insurance approving the MRI, or giving the letter of agreement, I'll let you know East Bay Upright MRI does everything perfectly on their end, so it's best to contact your insurance company if there's any issues or delays. East Bay Upright MRI keeps up their end and calls you when they have all the info they need to schedule an appointment. I was so comfortable in the upright MRI machine that I almost fell asleep! What a difference compared to the traditional MRIs. Plus, I had no pain trying to lay down on my back! Amanda did the MRIs and she said we got some great pictures. She gave the films to me. You can definitely see much more in these films than the others. What a revolution the upright MRI machine is! No more traditional MRIs for me. The vertical position for a person with spinal disk and vertabrae issues is the most logical position to be in while doing a MRI. More accurate diagnosis in my opinion.Being able to sit rather than lying flat on my back was a tremendous pain relief. Cheryl lynn is very professional and helpful in running the patient check-in . If you are even a small bit claustrophobic then this is the place for you to have your MRI done . I had tried 2 times to have my MRI ...Once in a tube and the second in an open MRI . I am major claustrophobic and was fortunate to find this wonderful place to have a brain scan. You can watch a movie, see the tech the whole time AND have whoever you choose to be in the room with you. Time went by very fast, (40 min) and then it was over. The office manager, Tamar answered all my questions and I had a lot! She is very patient and kind. The tech, Taras was so nice and showed me what would be going on during the scan. If you absolutely need to, the tech will stop the scan so you can come out and then start again. I did not feel the need to take a break, it went really fast! East Bay Upright MRI took excellent care of me from start to finish. The standing MRI helped further visualize my bilaterial foraminal stenosis and herniated disk. The staff was excellent, especially Tamar who assisted me with any questions and helped in getting approval from insurance. I am extremely claustrophobic, having had to stop a procedure in an "open" MRI because I was freaking out (never mind that the technician had locked me in the changing room by mistake prior to the procedure, which did not make it for a good start to begin with). This upright MRI was doable for me, while my kind husband was able to actually sit in the room with me; and the wonderfully caring staff (from the office clerk to the technicians) stayed in constant view and communication with me. Watched the beginning of a movie, which also greatly helped, but they need captions for the hearing impaired, for patients to follow the movie better due to the noise, which, on the other hand, was not as bad as the other MRI machines. But still disruptive for movie watching. I would strongly recommend this machine over the regular MRI, for those individuals who are claustrophobic, as well as the terrific staff, who helped eased the remaining anxieties as related to this machine. read more

The dreaded MRI tube is no more. You can sit or stand or rotate in a completely open machine. It is hard to imagine so you have to see it to believe it. The staff set you up with pillows and cushions until you are comfortable. Can you believe that! All the staff are really caring and friendly. If you need a short break you wave at them in the window and they let you blow your nose. This place is the best kept secret out there. Oh, I almost forgot you can choose a movie on DVD and watch it during your MRI procedure. Why aren't all doctors sending their patients to this place? This is the first time I've ever written a negative review on Yelp but I thought I'd like to warn people. First I must qualify that the people on the phone (particularly Marie) who scheduled me and helped me take care of quite a few things, were terrific. Also, the tech who ran my tests (Amanda) was very kind and seemingly trying to do a great job. here's the problem, though- I went to my doctor today with the pictures and he said they weren't good enough for him to really see what was going on. One image had been duplicated and another angle was left out completely. Then the radiologist's report that came via them basically said very little and left out what he thought looked like a tear in my rotator cuff (which was the whole point of the MRI to see if I needed surgery and if so, why). I really don't think she intended to lie to me but the tech also told me that they (Mt. Tam Ortho) had referred many people to them and even many of their staff had come there which the doctor tells me is patently untrue. I'd like to think she was just confused but it was very disappointing as her comments had made me optimistic that the pictures would be good enough. There were also several technical problems in their sending the pictures to their radiologist and they also sent me papers in the mail so I could fill them out ahead of time and I never got them at all (this is now 4th mail day after I needed them!). and they were totally unable to send me an email to an aol address which I can't understand at all. I'm terribly claustrophobic so this seemed like a great potential solution but it looks like I pretty much wasted my time and money (paid out of pocket) and am really disappointed and a little annoyed. not good business is my book! read more

Good luck if you actually want to schedule an appointment with this facility. It has been 8 days and counting and I still do not have an appointment! First the office won't even talk to you without faxing the front and back of your insurance card and your doctor referral. Then the fax machine doesn't answer. So I then emailed the information. 3 days later I called to see if they received the email for them to say they never received the email. While being on the phone, she found the email. She said she'd get right on authorizing it. She called me back later that day, after I took it upon myself to put my call back number on my insurance information because I wasn't asked for any personal information. But the call wasn't about whether I had authorization or not, it was for my name address and birthdate. Shouldn't there be an intake form where this information is asked? I work in a dental office so I'm familiar with office procedures. 4 business days later now she is waiting for an authorization from my doctor but told me to call the insurance myself to ask for an authorization transfer. I could have done that 8 days ago! We'll see how much longer it takes to get an appointment. Luckily my life isn't depending on this.... read more
