You can imagine my joy when I saw this shop, and imagined myself redeeming my Euros against a large pile of newspapers, fizzy pop and sweets. It was terrible news then, when I discovered that you are expected to pay in British Sterling. Jokes aside, it's a good little newsagents. Especially worth a look at is all the Haribo style sweets, that are not Haribo branded, but taste the same, and are about half the price. The selection is great. Plus its got some strange random items that tourists might be interested in. This is just speculation though, as I don't know any tourists.

The lady who works there did a lucky dip for me the other week and i won a tenner i think shes my lucky charm! :) The only bad thing about this shop is that it is very VERY small. It only fits about 3 people in at a time! Quite often they have offers on their magazines chocolates. I like to get a good bargain from here. Also they have just started selling wispas again so i ithink im guna stock up!

Having my…read moretwo young nephews with me was the perfect excuse to pop in and try and get some 'chewing nuts' that had once been a childhood favourite. Though the exterior and interior looks a tad tired, the shop has dozens of jars filled with sweets and chocolates beyond counting (amongst these were the stereotypical newsagent offerings, this place wears two hats it seems). The shop's owner was a friendly chap who weighed out our purchases in an old-school set of scales and popped them in those crinkled white paper bags I remembered from when I was my nephews' age. A cracking little place, one of a few ones left in the UK I imagine. I hope it keeps on trading as I want more of those chewy chocolate and toffee delights!

When I informed him politely that I didn't believe this to be true he became aggressive & shouted that I wasn't welcome in his shop & ordered me to leave. Firstly I would like to point out to the aggressive shop keeper that I had walked past the "Main Post Office" to get to the small independent shop as I always try to spend with smaller businesses & intended to make an additional purchase. Secondly the stamp on the parcel had been purchased from his location earlier in the year along with a postage label. Sadly a very angry & aggressive individual & as a result a formal complaint has been made to The Post Office customer service.

I did decided to phone this irate man after as maybe a case of mistaken identity.. he then accused me of taking photos of his greeting cards... what the hell! I am a successful business man (ok dressed in casual clothes because it was Friday) What do I want with photo of his cards??? Totally nuts! He did not apologise and just slammed the phone down after his false accusations. I generally like to support local business rather than going to large corporate firms but I cannot support someone who verbally abuses inocent members of the public for no reason.

So so rude , my aunt went in today to send a package at the post office , and stood at the counter while the 2 old gas bags totally ignored her and carried on gassing for 4 minutes !! I visited this coffee shop recently and left feeling pretty uncomfortable with how I was treated. From the moment I ordered, the staff came across as dismissive and noticeably colder toward me compared to other customers around me. There were a few interactions that felt unnecessarily sharp, and it gave the impression that I wasn't particularly welcome there. I want to be fair, but as a straight customer, the difference in tone and attitude didn't go unnoticed. Whether intentional or not, it made the experience feel exclusionary rather than inclusive. It's a shame because the space itself has a lot of personality, but the service made it hard to enjoy. I'd hope they work on creating a more welcoming environment for everyone.

Whether it was because the area of town is a bit random, the building a bit unattractive and me thinking it was more of a bookshop - something just seemed to be putting me off. But today in my meeting with Matt F we decided to give it a go and what a great decision it was! First off this place is huge and a labyrinth once inside - one half hipster bookshop, the other half cool cafe with a real nod to health (check out the menu on my pics). A really lovely environment with working fountain and a variety of places to sit. The food was excellent too - my breakfast pancakes were probably the best I've had in Manchester so far which is saying something.
