I came into Nordstrom with my heart set on buying a silver Michelle watch. They didn't have the product in person. I started asking questions about the watch and the girl helping me didn't know enough about the watch to answer. We asked her manager who was rude and didn't seem interested in helping me. I have always been a Mac customer and loyal shopper of Nordstrom on the west coast but had not yet visited Nordstrom since my husband and I moved to Cincinnati. The first place I always visit is Cosmetics and this day was a very intense and emotional day for me as I just learned my husband had terminal cancer (with two months of life left.) I was greeted by many of the sales people but it wasn't until I went to the Mac counter that I felt completely in my comfort zone. It was much cleaner than I have seen on the west coast and to boot, they were even organizing as I walked up. I was welcomed immediately (which is not common in my previous mac experiences) and after briefly conversing, Syntheah began to teach me how to do the smoky eye I had asked about. She not only made me look beautiful but she also elevated me from the news I received earlier that day. The experience left me feeling that there are truly people that enjoy what they do so much that they make that feeling contagious, enabling you to enjoy yourself despite the helpless sadness that awaits. Afterward I thanked her and got her information but what I really wanted to do was call her the next day to tell her how amazing my late husband thought I looked and what a beautiful night I had. She even hugged me after the consultation which meant the world to me since I have no family support and felt so alone after hearing the news that day. I hope that she gets the accolades she is entitled to as a makeup artist and I hope to return soon to tell her this in person. I have to say that I am immensely disappointed with the Kenwood Nordstrom Men's department. If it wasn't for the Kids' department and the Bistro I would be giving the Kenwood Nordstrom a one star. My wife hasn't complained about any of the women's departments (but she also hasn't raved about any of them). This is not a Nordstrom bashing review, I want this to serve as a warning for any other guys looking to purchase a suit at this location. My wife and I moved to the area from California so we have shopped at a lot of different Nordstrom stores in a lot of different demographic areas so I would say that we are regular shoppers at Nordstrom with a balanced perspective of the different stores. Also, the amount of Nordstrom Notes my wife gets and invitations to private parties confirm the frequency of our trips. We will continue to shop at Nordstrom, we just won't ever buy a suit from the Kenwood Nordstrom again. Here's why... The main reason you go to Nordstrom or any other fancy department store for a suit is that you expect them to fit you in a good looking suit. About six months ago I went by myself and purchased a John Varvatos suit. I was relying on the salesman for the fit as my wife's discerning eye wasn't there. I realized later that the suit was too big both in the jacket and trouser. The tailor managed to make the seat of the pants both baggy and looking like I had a wedgie. I am a slim framed guy and the salesman failed to listen to me and visually fit me in the suit. I even used keywords..."I am looking for a slim fit suit", "I like European cuts", and "I want a trim jacket and trousers". Yes, I bear some responsibility as I felt like the suit was too big, but I ignored my gut to go with the "expert". So that is failure #1. Failure #2 was the poor tailoring done at this Nordstrom, maybe they can sew the hem back on a pair of jeans, but I am now very hesitant to trust them with any serious sewing. Failure #3 came this past weekend; I finally had time to take the suit back to get it fixed. The Kenwood Nordstrom is the closest to our house, but is still an hour away...and when you have five month old twins, trips are rare and very purposeful. When I got to the store I explained to the saleswoman that I needed my trousers fixed. She called up the tailor, who made her marks and I went to give my information. So at this point I am thinking things are going well and then the saleswoman tells me it is going to be $15. I brought the trousers back to get them fixed...it took two more calls to the tailor before they finally comped the charge to fix their poor work. This is a customer service fail! We spend enough at Nordstrom and have reached a status level through their programs that give us free tailoring, but the principle of this poor customer service is where I am disappointed with the Kenwood Nordstrom. The saleswoman should have not charged to fix the alteration errors regardless of my status (especially when the alteration cost is less than 2% of the suit cost). Every salesperson should be trying to fix an error for the customer regardless of who the customer is...especially if they are going to live up to the John W. Nordstrom philosophy, "offer the customer the best possible service, selection, quality and value". The Kenwood Nordstrom does have some redeeming features and staff just not in the Men's department. Unfortunately, everytime I have been to this Nordstrom the staff has been so bad that I can't give higher than two stars. They are hard to find and then when you do get help it is like I am bothering them. Rudeness has no place in a Nordstrom. If you need a suit, wait until you get to Glendale, CA. That Nordstrom has salespeople that will put you in a sharp fitting suit! read more

The customer service here is out of this world - I guess you get what you pay for. I needed to exchange a pair of TOMS my mother in law got me at Christmas, and four months later with no receipt, I didn't have a single problem. The woman who assisted me was delightful, and I just wish I had the money to shop here more often! read more

I've shopped here a handful of times. I've been told the customer service at a Nordstrom is supposed to be amazing. I haven't noticed any difference between this store and a Macy's or K-mart for that matter. I see other people being serviced,but i'm usually not greeted. They do have a great selection and decent sales. Also,their coffee bar is way better than starbucks and the service there should be commended b/c those guys are awesome. So,all in all i'd say that I enjoy shopping by myself and being left alone so not being greeted or helped isn't a huge deal. I'm more interested in getting great coffee and they definately meet that criteria. read more

I am reviewing the restaurant inside the Nordstrom store in Kenwood. The food was good...very good. I was shocked by the poor service. The restaurant does not script you through the odd ordering and seating process (you order food before being seated). Our party was confused and felt rushed to make a quick decision. Once we were seated we didn't receive our drinks for a long time and sat there thirsty. I personally get impatient if I feel thirsty and neglected at a table. Then, the food took a long time to arrive. The service was poor from start to finish and not what Nordstrom claims to be. read more

Nordstrom is pricey but they have the best customer service of any department store, hands down. The Nordstrom at Kenwood is smaller than most but what they lack in size they make up for with an attentive and friendly staff. I can't speak for the men's or children's departments, but the other departments (especially shoes and lingerie) are always willing to go the extra mile to help you find the best product for you. The Intimate Apparel department has the best selection of any of the other department stores in Kenwood. They carry up to a size J, and if you need something they dont have they eill definitely order it for you. This is the place to shop if you are well endowed in the chest area. The bras arent just the boring nude that you normally see in large suzes, they actually come in cute colors! The staff works with you to make sure the bras you are buying are the right size and are comfortable. read more

Worst Nordstrom trip ever! Is this really a Nordstrom or an outlet store masquerading as a department store? First time ever a sales associate hasn't been at my side within 5 minutes of arrival to see if I needed help. Having never been to this store, I wasn't sure where all the items were in men's dept. However, 30 mins later I had peruses all of the limited selection in men's dept, STILL without a single associate having even come in my direction. I shop at Nordstrom for the assistance and advice, not for the price. I can go to an outlet store for a good price. Probably also the only time I have walked out of a Nordstrom store without a single purchase. Oh, well. I guess I'll go spend my money somewhere else. I certainly won't make a 1 hr, 44 mins drive up to this imitation Nordstrom location. Hoping to get back home as soon as I can. read more

Shopping at Nordstrom is a good experience. I must say they have the largest selection of shoes of all department stores in the area. You will find some of the same items you will see elsewhere, but you will also find some unique items as well. Besides the shoes and unique items, the service is a highlight. I have never had an issue returning an item. And your sales associate will always walk around the counter to hand you your bag of items. The store is fairly large so I can't say I have explored it all, but I should in the future. We are lucky to have this shopping option in Cincinnati. read more

I had another great experience at Nordstrom today. My sales associate was Jody who works in shoes. I was looking for a pair of shoes to match a dress and and subsequently would want a handbag and jewelry. After I found the perfect pair of shoes she accompanied me to handbags and jewelry. I found everything I needed. She gave advice and some of it was recommending things that were not the highest price and even steering me away from some items altogether that she thought would not work. I felt very comfortable with her and trusted her advice. read more

As a preface, I've had great experiences in the mens and shoes departments, and enjoyed the service. Unfortunately, their personal shoppers leave a lot to be desired. When preparing for an upcoming wedding, on my advice, my mum booked a personal shopper a few weeks ago. The shopper reached out to get sizing and style preferences, as was expected. Upon arrival, the personal shopper had not pulled a single thing for her that was her size, only 2+ sizes too large. She was informed that they could order things from other stores, but would have to pay for it all first and return what she didn't want. I have heard superlatives from personal shoppers who had gotten inventory in advance for the customer, and there is no reason to have to pay for something you may not want. This seems backwards and a quick way to lose customers. The styles they offered made the poor lady feel like "a clown" and walked out a bit humiliated. The lack of sizing and options should have been communicated well in advance. Full stop. It is a waste time to go to the appointment if nothing was going to be available, and common courtesy would be to communicate with the customer. Needless to say, I strongly recommend to avoid wasting time with the personal shoppers as they have significantly gone downhill. read more

For example, when I walk in wearing a suit after work the sales people flock to me, but if I'm wearing jeans and a t shirt I have to go out of my way to get assistance with something. I love Nordstrom's products. As a young girl at heart, I believe that the skincare and the cosmetics lines are diverse, super fun-tastic and amazing! I've bought gifts, personal skincare, and cosmetics here. I have to say, though, I don't expect much customer service when I'm shopping for these items, but I've (surprisingly) experienced rude sales staff. I'm aware that people have bad days, but ignoring returning customers or giving an attitude is another ballpark entirely. I'm not a demanding or a snobby shopper, so it irritates me when returning customers aren't treated well! read more

As a girl in my mid-twenties I've finally developed my own fashion philosophy: expensive isn't always better; brand names don't matter; and only buy something if you love it. Believe it or not, Nordstrom meets all my criteria. So when I'm looking for quality items that don't totally break the bank I head to Nordstrom. Cincinnati's not exactly the most fashion forward city in the US but is certainly making great strides, most notably by the addition of Nordstrom at Kenwood Mall. Nordstrom carries all the brands that my inner Carrie Bradshaw wants to buy, as well as brands that my post-graduate on-a-budget self can afford...on occasion. The buyer does a great job by purchasing a variety of styles in different price ranges. The store itself is laid out well and the displays are kept tidy. Additionally, one of the things I love about Yelp is giving compliments when they're earned. Working in customer service can be a thankless job and it's easy for employees to become complacent. I imagine this is especially true during the Christmas season when an entire city descends upon your place of work. I was helped by a salesperson by the name of Amy Nigro this week while shopping and knew I had to mention her on Yelp. Many salespeople haven't mastered the art of interpersonal communication and make forced conversation, follow you around the store, or ignore you all together. Amy kindly asked if she could start a room for me and checked on me once while I was shopping. I found one item to purchase and upon leaving the dressing room Amy noticed me, took my item out of my hands and we had a pleasant, natural chat as she rang me up. Finally, someone working in a customer service position who's good with people! I asked for her card and here I am making good on my promise of a review. Well done! read more

The Chanel make up counter needs retraining. That's the nicest way to put it. My husband and I came in on Valentine's Day to grab some skin care items. We're from Seattle, we have no shortages of multiple options of Nordstrom's there or Chanel counters. But since we're in Ohio we have like 3 options but all are a hour away. We walk over to the counter and the lady walks up to us and asks what we need.( no hi no nothing, just " what do you need?"). We proceed to list the 4 items we want to buy and had a question about the boy line that Chanel came out with last month. The lady looks at us half way through while we're still talking and says" I'm going to have you stop talking, I'm busy right now. Someone will be with you later." Okay so number one don't tell me to stop talking when you asked me what we needed. It was so snarky and rude. My husband and I just looked at eachother like what did we just witness. I told him I refuse to spend $400 plus on items this lady is probably going to get Commission on or hit a sales goal with. I'm not child you speak to like that in such rude and abrasive manner. We ended up buying our skin care times online from the Chanel website. Her loss. The reason for 2 stars is because I've returned online orders here with no issue and they have been nice. read more

This is THE place to buy your makeup. Hands down. Looking for a new look, I got makeup consultations across Cincinnati at nearly every location I could think of- Sephora, Mac, Saks- all to no avail. Every time I was extremely disappointed, due to a lack of customer service or any creativity on the part of the makeup artist. Most had no direction of their own, asked you what colors to use (defeating the whole purpose of going to an expert for ideas) and slapped on a few colors without much technique or design. Going to Michelle was an entirely different experience. I discovered her at the Guerlain counter in Nordstrom and am so grateful. From the first minute it was clear she was a talented makeup artist with a passion for what she does. She asked what products I currently use to make sure the new makeup would be complementary to my overall look, took into account my features and coloring in recommending her own ideas and suggestions, and applied the makeup with a purposeful technique and design. It was the first makeover I'd received that actually complemented my features- others actually downplayed or overshadowed them. Better yet, she was extremely patient and charming, and took time to clearly explain the application technique and the positive properties of every piece of makeup/tool she was using- including the Mother of Pearl Guerlain uses. :) Finally, someone who know's what they're talking about! Nordstrom + staff put other local retailers to shame w/their customer service and product selection... not to mention the soundtrack you get to shop to. I came to Nordstrom since there was no school today looking for a better bra fitting and a bigger size range. Asked for a fit assistant and was quickly showed to a fitting room and asked her some questions. She brought her measuring tape but it wasn't necessary after we grabbed 2 sizes in the same band. Most places only offer a cup size A and B in the 30 band with some outrageous padding like some tween girl had gotten her hands on pads and stuffed them inside. Here however they do offer 30 C-F and maybe beyond. After I found my size the price was just 25% off the regular price. So I opted to look on the website. If your there ask for Nina, she's great too. read more

I have been shopping at Nordstrom in general for years, and since they opened up in Cincinnati, I had a few shopping trips there. After my trip last summer, I kept getting letters in the mail saying they would give me money off if I used their personal shopper experience. I am SO glad I did. Julia Green is who they paired me with, randomly, and she was amazing. I said that I was looking for an interview dress and a cocktail dress for an upcoming wedding. She pulled things in my size and we found two perfect dresses. THere would have been a third, but alas, they were sold out in my size. I went to my interview, and decided that I really wanted the other dress too, so I called Julia (even though I had found it on Nordstrom.com) and asked her if she got credit if I had her order it. She did, and ordered it for me. It arrived yesterday, fits perfectly, and I am so happy with the service there. I will continue to call her for any things I need there, even if they are as simple as shoes, as that way she keeps getting credit! The only things I would say about Nordstrom is that this store doesn't carry some of the brands that other stores do. I wish they had some more high end shoes and handbags, but that's just a pipe dream. The quality of their house brand - Classics Entier (Spelling is wrong, sorry!) is very good, and I have been very impressed with the things I have bought. If you are nervous about going here, or have something particular you are looking for, ask for a personal shopper, as I think they really understand what you want. You know which shopper I recommend, but I am sure they are all good! So glad Cincinnati has finally gotten Nordstrom! It might be my favorite department store. read more

Most of the glowing reviews for Nordstrom relates to the makeup and perfume counters; considering the products sold there, it makes sense that the customer service would be what made Nordstrom's fame. However, having shopped in many states with a Nordstrom, IMO the Men's department in the Kenwood Mall store is the Worst I have ever been exposed to. It provides typical Cincinnati business customer service.- hard to find, blatantly suspicious of you if they decide you may be a thief (follow you around, or multiple sales' vultures' assail you and ask 'if you need help,') and a consistent inability to Understand Spoken English. Three times i attempted to shop in the Men's department over four months (April-July.) In each case I did not require any assistance to find what I was looking for (nothing requiring tailoring, just shoes, socks, ties, and shirts.) In every visit, when a sales rep did show up, I politely told them why I was there, and that I did not require any help at all. In each case they appeared to understand me, yet spewed the standard (paraphrased) 'OK, let me know if I can help you.' I don't appreciate a supposed adult not listening to me, so in each case I reminded them that I already told them I did not require help. In every case the sales rep got very defensive, and became more so when I politely told them that IMO they were not listening to me. Another unacceptable 'customer service' is the harassment at the register. If I am at the register with my items, it is Implied that I am Done Shopping - I resent being asked at the register if 'there is anything else you need,' or would 'I like a Nordstrom credit card,' or 'how about a shirt for that tie?' STOP the sales pitches at the registers. Twice I had conversations with the manager on duty about the unacceptable attitudes and service - it became clear from the conversations that that is the "Nordstrom customer service" provided in Kenwood Mall. (P.S. Every Nordstrom I have been in Except Kenwood Mall's offers to polish your shoes if requested...) Tomorrow I will try one more time to see if they have improved their staffs' customer service - I expect no improvements, and will then stop shopping there. read more

I was recently very disappointed in Nordstrom located in Cincinnati Ohio. While walking through the store a song was playing throughout the store that had several inappropriate 4 letter words that I did not want my children to hear. This to me is completely inappropriate and inexcusable Nordstrom. You need to more closely monitor your selections of songs played in your stores! read more

I was here just recently with my husband and we were greeted by a young man named Jonathan Histle. THE best customer service in the entire store! He was so sweet and helpful and had a wonderful personality. We both made a very large purchase for a trip we are getting ready to go on and if it were not for Jonathan, we would have been there for quite a while (when I start shopping..I need help stopping!). This weekend I experienced some of the best customer service I've ever received from any company! I bought a coat from Nordstrom at Kenwood mall on Saturday to wear out to dinner and The Nutcracker ballet with my boyfriend. As we were in our Uber on our way downtown, I noticed that the security sensor wasn't taken off when I purchased it and it was right smack dab in the middle on the back of the coat. While I started to panic that I wasn't going to be able to wear the coat and we were already almost to downtown, we called Nordstrom to see if there was anything we could do to get it off ourselves since we had no time to go back to the store to get it removed. We were connected to an associate (I wish I would've gotten her name :-( ) who asked us where we were going and how long we'd be there, and within an hour she showed up at the restaurant we were at with the machine that takes off the security sensor! It was awesome and I am so impressed with the service I receive every time I come to Nordstrom. Thank you so much! read more

Great place. When I found out that Cincinnati was getting a Nordstrom, I was probably the happiest I have ever been. On opening day, I even put together a brunch party at my house and served cupcakes with "Nordstrom" written on top. After the brunch, all of my friends went to Nordy's and shopped. I was thrilled that I could find some of my favorite brands in the Midwest! Good bye last minute flights to LA and NY :) Clearly, you can tell that I have always loved Nordstrom, so why am I suddenly writing a post on yelp? Well, I went into Nordstrom a couple of days ago and one of the most genuine females helped me in the Women's shoe department. Her name was Paige and she gave me great fashion advice, answered every question that I had, and was full of poise.
