We were told that all the clothing is made in France and England. I have no reason to suspect otherwise. Assuming this is true then Heroines is a bargain! Perhaps it is my Bronx skepticism kicking-in. The manager/salesperson was outstanding but I can't remember her name. I don't want to say how much we spent, but let's just say we greatly surpassed the US incoming custom's exemption. I guess we'll just need to donate the excess prior to re-entering the homeland...

The repurposed leather bags and canvas totes are super cool and unique -- take one home with you and you'll love it forever. This particular stip of the Marais has the best shopping in Paris, as far as I'm concerned. Young, thoughtful and smart designs fill these boutiques with lovely, one-of-a-kind finds that are beautiful and well-made all while remaining incredibly stylish and current. Matières à réflexion rises to the top of this group and I wish there was a way for me to get there more often!

Fast forward a week later, I'm in Paris and I stumble upon the COS store in the Marais. There are two COS stores in Paris but the Marais store carries the full collection. What I like about COS is that they carry many basic colors that you can mix and match. We're talking black, white, and gray. They have casual, business and special occasion attire too. Something for everyone and for every occasion. The styles are v-e-r-y cool with unusual mixed fabrics used together, asymmetric cuts to the skirts, unexpected shapes to the neckline or styling on the clothing. I haven't been this excited about discovering a clothing brand EVER. Needless to say, I tried on many dresses, tops and accessories and came away with a cart full of clothes. Whoopeee! Now I can no longer say I have nothing in my closet to wear. COS has solved my dilemma and given my wardrobe some excitement and fun. As a division of the H&M group (from Sweden), I'm excited to have discovered COS and I hope that I'll find their clothes sometime soon in the USA.

This year, I was poised to find another special purchase. The service here is rather typical boutique French, where you often have to ask to see items, and the dressing room is tightly controlled, meaning the best mirror is outside of the dressing room. I would say that I had a lot more fun shopping last year, when I had a sweet salesgirl helping me, and we bonded over the no-makeup look, and our love for a certain fur jacket that was out of everyone's price range. I shopped during the Soldes, which are the twice yearly national sales periods. So, I was able to get an amazing discount on a bomb-tastic faux fur jacket and a gorgeous scarf, for a "can't leave it behind" price. If you are in the mood, they have an amazing selection of jewelry and accessories.

Ummm, never. That's what I thought. And that's what makes this particular L'Eclaireur address one of the most unique and pleasant boutiques to visit in Paris, let alone the rest of the world. I rarely go to this shop because everything there is just too gorgeous and too expensive, but yesterday I was in the neighborhood and stopped by because I've been fantasizing recently over these adorable charms by an LA-based artist named Catherine Michaels that I knew l'Eclaireur carried. Of course the charm that I wanted was one of the pricier of the series, but I've been a very good girl lately and felt like I deserved it. The saleswomen helping were absolutely adorable despite their chic, sophisticated looks. They were so helpful, looking through catalogs to see what was in stock, getting out different strings for me to try my charms on with, marveling with me at how intricate and unique the designs were. It was such a pleasant pause from reality that the purchase happened almost in a blur. Chantelle, aurora and the other lady (I forgot her name) were all very friendly and welcoming and answered all my questions. I was very satisfied with my purchase. Will definitely stop by again when I am in the area! Only thing that could have been better was the tote I purchased didn't have a big enough dust cover to cover it all the way.
